McFilbert J Magoulahey
McFilbert J Magoulahey was a leprechaun you see
He spent his time writing rhymes beneath a knotted tree
On his head he wore a hat, that fit him perfectly
his suit was green as clover leaves and covered chin to knee
T’was his job to guard the gold in the land of Burgenspree
And keep plunderers from finding it; the ones like you and me
Of stature he was small in size inching barely twenty- three
But McFilbert did his very best what ere his job would be
He had a weakness for a hearty drink and loved a mug of ale
And when it came to stories he could spin a splendid tale.
But McFilbert’s heart was smitten by a girl from Innisfree
For he planned to wed her in the spring and live to eternity
The problem with his plan was he forgot to tell the lass
And when she heard about it, she decided she would pass
Though she loved the time spent with him beneath the knotted tree
She knew for humans and a leprechaun, a marriage couldn’t be
So sadly he accepted the refusal that she made
Although the hurt he felt was something he could not abrade
He still continues to protect the Gold of Burgenspree
And recites his poems to the lass beneath the knotted tree©
