A Poem: Do Lions Snore?

Demas finds limericks a challenge and has crafted a few that even have chuckles. Of the bunch you can choose from he offers this one today.

When is a lion its best?

Whenever you roar,

you're sure not a bore.

Your hair gets so frizzy.

Me, I'd surely get dizzy.

I wonder if lions do snore.

They're gentle at rest.

For hunting they're best.

They dwell in a pride.

For hunting they hide.

For others they can sure be a pest.

Good hunters, and tawny,

they seldom are scrawny.

Outfitted with claws,

they hide in their paws.

So macho, so masculine, so brawny.

I wonder if you

ever visit a zoo.

The monkeys are best,

for they never rest.

The lions rest after their stew.

Some children in fact

say "Look at the cat!

Just look at his tongue,

so cute when he's young.

How lazy, and crazy is that?"

I'd give all I've saved,

to see him once shaved!

Chin whiskers and all.

No lioness would fall,

For such a lion so depraved.

Best let him just be.

For now what we see,

his roar is so loud,

it thrills every crowd,

The way God intended he'd be.

Your lion imaginings make me laugh. I don't think I want to see a lion shaved. He'd just be a big pussycat.

Blessings,

Denise

Thanks, John. Your comment made me smile, too. I even enjoyed reading it again myself! Our limericks (yours and mine) are for everyone, though we choose our own cups of tea.

Well, here I am, the first to comment. I do love limericks but I guess they aren’t everyone’s cup of tea. You covered the subject of lions really well and brought a smile. Nice job, Demas.

I had to check my own Activity to see whether or not this actually published. There it was, with no Comments in sight, and I thought the effort was worthy! At least I know it was viewed ten times the first day. In another year it will come up as a Facebook memory of mine, and I can try posting it again. Hopefully by then COVID-19 will not be uppermost on folks' minds, and there will be more time for humor?
