Jackie Evancho - Growing Up!

There are special people in this world we are so lucky to get to know. Jackie finds them to share and enjoy with you.

This article is about a personal matter that brought me to HubPages and the discovery of a little girl who would shock the world with a voice she merely used for fun!

This is an account of how one leads to the other but most importantly the unbelievable beauty and talent of Jackie Evancho!

A Star is Born.

The golden moments in the stream of life rush past us and we see nothing but sand; the angels come to visit us, and we only know them when they are gone.

— George Elliot

From Game to Fame.

In the Beginning

When I first came to online writing I had been years away from music a good while. I had never written poetry. So to survive the torture my mother was going through that I could not stop (and that did, in fact, kill her 2010) I started putting my feelings in poems; from a suggestion of a couple of good friends here. (James Watkins and Nell Rose) Perhaps they just wanted me to change the subject, but I thank them nonetheless!

I found songs to top off poems or sometimes I would hear a song that made me have to write what that song said to me.

Well, I did poetry to vent anger, to let my mom and God and anyone who wanted to listen know what I was going through and it got me through. Good therapy for sure.

I have to admit just talking about it brings back the pain, the love, the misery and then the release of my mother’s spirit to let her go so I could finally know her pain was over.

I wrote of her caretakers who I knew starved and hurt her. I would show up unexpectedly and find this to be true but I could prove nothing, even with pictures.

I wrote of her daffodils so plain but now through her eyes, I saw the beauty and love and my plans to take them to her and see if she would know me. (I found Carol King's "My Mother's Daffodil's" and it was heaven sent.)

She called everyone by my name but me, yet when she saw me I saw the love and recognition.

I did poetry and songs of my love for her and when she died I had no choice but to finish her story that way. Amazingly it was as if angels guided me to songs; such as for the daffodils.

Who would have guessed but there it was and a tribute as I alone could have never given her.

When she died though I knew there was no song to express my feelings and I really hated that, being the ending of her life and story and my sorrow.

To my surprise and I don’t know why with all falling into place each and every time, I came upon Sarah McLachlan’s, “ In the Arms of the Angel”

I finished the end of her life in written form with the accompaniment of that most beautiful song.

I have seen Sarah perform that song a couple of times on TV in the last year and it always says what I couldn’t although there are words there not pertaining to my mom, on the whole, it says it all.

It is to me a testimonial against all who did her wrong including her own children and begged her to go where there would be no more pain and/or abuse.

Then there came this little girl to give this song another beauty all her own!

So Beautiful!

What a Wonderful World!

Thrill to Watch Her Perform.

Jackie not only has perfect pitch, but she is also able to create such emotions within the listener that she often brings her audience to tears.

She can sing in many different languages with such perfection that native speakers of those languages are simply amazed at her diction. She has the most appealing personality, largely due to her very humble nature.

She seems at home with the everyday fan, as well as with the President of the United States (singing at the National Christmas tree lighting last year) and talk show hosts in the United States, England, Canada, and Japan.

She has appeared nationally and internationally and is now set to be in a major motion picture. She is a great lover of animals and is the national spokesperson for the SPCA.

I think the safest thing to say is that she embodies all we hope for in our young people. She is the whole package.

All God's angels come to us disguised.

— James Russell Lowell

Today I found a beautiful child; eleven years old, that can give Sarah a real run for her money on that song and I just had to share it.

Maybe many of you saw her on ‘America’s Got Talent’ but I did not. I had never heard of her until today and it has been about years ago that she was on that show and now I see that she has so very many videos out and I am sure is a very rich little girl by now.

On one show about her, they said she just did this opera singing around the house and her parents thought that all eight years old's sounded like that.

That may be true but the thing is she sounds like a grown-up, she does not have the voice of a child and someone on the show says that it is nothing special about her voice box but merely from her brain, and it showed brains of other great talents so apparently the little girl has gone through very much to see what makes her tick.

I thought I would just leave you a video to amaze you if you have never heard her. Since I could not really give you her whole story you had to listen about mine to get to her.

Thanks for letting me share it with you and this fantastic talent. Please enjoy.

I have 2014 Video of her at the bottom; doing POP! You will love it. Every little girl's dream.

Be an angel to someone else whenever you can, as a way of thanking God for the help your angel has given you.

— ~Quoted in The Angels' Little Instruction Book by Eileen Elias Freeman, 1994

Jackie's Bio / Official Site

Most recently, Jackie has tried her hand at both acting and modeling. She made her acting debut in “The Company You Keep.” Legendary actor/director/producer Robert Redford cast Jackie to play his daughter in the thriller scheduled to be released April 2013. “I am so happy that Mr. Redford picked me to be in his film. And I am excited to learn from performers that are amazing at what they do,” says Jackie, who will be part of a star-studded cast that includes Susan Sarandon, Shia LaBeouf, Anna Kendrick, Terrance Howard, Nick Nolte, and Stanley Tucci.

Off-screen, Jackie was selected by GUESS owner, Paul Marciano, to star in both the Fall 2012 and Fall 2013 GUESS Kids clothing campaigns. “I have had so much fun and done so many challenging things this year. But while I really enjoyed all the traveling and the acting and had such a great time posing in all those great clothes for GUESS, singing is still the thing I love the most,” said Jackie.

Jackie Lynnley (author) from the beautiful south on February 10, 2014:

There is your correction, no problem, doubt anyone will read it but me. Thank you for your sympathy and I hope I don't appear to be tearing myself down. I can never be good enough but don't we all feel that way and I am not sure it is so wrong. I don't go with the idea we should say how good we are, when only God is really good.

Again, thanks.

Laura on February 10, 2014:

LOL, I meant utter not udder! Please fix my spelling? Sorry

Laura on February 10, 2014:

You have inspired so much time. I am so sorry for your loss of your mother. Being a mother myself, we never, ever wish to leave our children, ever. If I was your mother looking at you today through her eyes I would feel so blessed to have such a beautiful daughter. I hope as I watch you grow that you keep being yourself and know you can be whoever you want to be and change however you want without having to tear yourself down to show us you want to change. Just do it and we will remain in udder wonderment of how very special you are.

Jackie Lynnley (author) from the beautiful south on August 08, 2012:

Thank you Christy and yes I love music too, in fact most of mt first poems were inspired by song I loved.

Christy Birmingham from British Columbia, Canada on August 08, 2012:

Jackie, thank-you for sharing about your mom. I also use poetry to get through difficult times and music helps too. I understand what you mean. Jackie Evanchos has an incredible voice for such a young age. Vote up and sharing.

Jackie Lynnley (author) from the beautiful south on August 04, 2012:

Thank you Delores, I am much better since writing this but only because I don't allow myself to think back on the bad. Now with Mom being in heaven she wouldn't want me worrying but if she were alive I am certain she would! She knew I was a sucker for her!

Dolores Monet from East Coast, United States on August 04, 2012:

As Amiller above says, a year is not much time in the grieving process. I am so sorry that you are suffering and have suffered so over the loss of your mother. But her suffering is over, yours should be too. Your mother would not want you to suffer - she would only want your joy.

Jackie certainly is an amazing child and her voice is incredible. I hope you take the message from the song. Your sweet mommy is in the arms of the angels.

ladyjojo on July 26, 2011:

Nice singing ;)

Jackie Lynnley (author) from the beautiful south on July 23, 2011:

Thank you so much greg, you have no idea how much I have written, lol. I have taken down hundreds of hubs and I have poem collections waiting to copyright, besides books and it has really helped. I am so happy to have men console me since that is rare and to have anyone say, "Oh you get over it!" like their mom was a possession now gone so forget it, seems so heartless. So I am glad to see ones not ashamed or do have feelings. My mom wasn't perfect but she had Alzheimer's her last few years and was like a baby and that is what I have such a hard time forgetting, it was like losing a mother and a child because I know she really felt like I was her Mommy and I did too. I did things for her like you would a child to please and make her happy and being so glad to do it, it also broke my heart so little pleased her. It is just a good thing spirits are not flesh because I want to hug her so tight so often when I ever meet with her again. Mom was a singing, jolly person until the last ten years of her life so I have very many good memories. I was oldest of the last 5 and all boys under me so I helped her to raise them, that made us close too. Thank you so much for sharing with me. It brings me smiles.

Jackie Lynnley (author) from the beautiful south on July 23, 2011:

Yeah, I am finding that out, guess we never stop loving Mommy and though I can laugh now about things she did and said and my whole life with her; sometimes just something out of the blue still hurts sometimes.

I thought the little girl was really something else. Great to have you visit...thank you.

amillar from Scotland, UK on July 23, 2011:

I've never heard that wee girl singing before Jackie, she really is extraordinary - and so well mannered.

A year isn't very long in the grieving process Jackie; it takes time and some need longer than others.

Jackie Lynnley (author) from the beautiful south on July 23, 2011:

I bet she does already jacqui and I think it was maybe 20/20 I saw her on and she looked happy enough so maybe her parents will balance her life out for her to get to have some childhood yet with her brother and sister. Really appreciate your visit!

Jackie Lynnley (author) from the beautiful south on July 23, 2011:

Charlotte that pleases me so much and I love to share talents that I find out about but it is getting harder to do that here even though I typed in and knew no one had anything of substance about her and not even a song, so I did the best I could, and glad you went to the end! Thanks!

jacqui2011 from Norfolk, UK on July 23, 2011:

Fantastic hub and well written. I too dealt with grief by putting pen to paper. What an amazing voice this young girl has at such a young age. Im sure she will have a fantastic career ahead of her. Voted up as well as awesome.

Charlotte B Plum on July 22, 2011:

I totally totally agree with you about her voice - it just moves me whenever I listen to her. It is such a precious gift.

Thank you for sharing this - i enjoy reading your hubs!

Jackie Lynnley (author) from the beautiful south on July 22, 2011:

Thanks, she has a very interesting story but that voice, so amazing and one thing I always hated was opera like stuff, lol, either it is changing or I am one! Thank you for commenting gregas.

Greg Schweizer from Corona, California. on July 22, 2011:

Hi Jackie, I did se her the first night she was on AGT and I was amazed as I believe most of America was. And she is a very polite young lady. Nice hub. Greg
