Is It Going to Rain Today?

Poetry is turning out to be a very cathartic medium, I should do this more often.

Set the Mood

I looked to the skies,

The skies in my mind.

They must think me blind,

That I can't see their lies.

Skies full of a deep grey,

Sadness why have you come?

Could it be that I am dumb,

Are you here to forever stay?

Can always trust a grey cloud,

It can never deceive you.

The grey tint is always true,

Even if the thunder is loud.

What is this upon my face?

Water has begun to fall.

Scroll to Continue

Did the clouds hear my call,

Or am I just a disgrace?

Soak me right to the bone,

Taking root is my passion.

Passion won't be rationed,

Among masses shall be sown.

Leave the depths and see it's sunny,

So why do I feel this gloomy way?

Is it going to rain today?

Don't put a damper on me, honey!

Be My Umbrella

You know, it is sometimes as if people are like the rain. Sometimes you love it, you want it to fall on you, to dance and immerse in it. Then other times you wish that you had an umbrella to shield you from it, and the people who can do that are rare. Even more so my memories tend to rain on my parade, and the only thing that can shield me are others and their kindness.

Oh, won't you be my umbrella?

It's funny, I always seem to be missing my umbrella when it is raining, but whenever it isn't raining I am contemplating removing it from my car to make room for something else. I'm sure there's a metaphor for life in there somewhere, Peggy, LOL! If only we could all be each other's umbrellas, we'd never end up wet and cold!

Thanks for reading!

Reading this over again made me laugh, Misbah, and I totally forgot about writing it. It is interesting to look back on previous writings just to see how we have evolved. Innocence is weighing heavy on your mind recently, no?

Thanks for reading!

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on May 22, 2021:

We can all use umbrellas when it rains, as we can use people who are near and dear to us when we need their support and comfort. Lucky are those who have both!

Misbah Sheikh from — This Existence Is Only an Illusion on May 21, 2021:

This is so sweet, Kyler. I like it. If you don't call it flattering... Lol!!

Hope I will also find an umbrella some day...Lol...

Thanks for sharing this Innocent piece

Stay safe and healthy :)

Blessings always

Cute one.

You definitely can draw out the meaning with your words.

Take care and hope you can find an umbrella.

Ha! Thanks for the early morning chuckle!

Always nice to know I have umbrellas!

Shauna L Bowling from Central Florida on April 27, 2020:

I'll be one of your umbrellas, Kyler. Just pray I don't turn inside out when the wind kicks up! :-)

Thank you, Mitara, I am happy you could connect with the sentiments!

If only we could all be one another's umbrella!

Mitara N from South Africa on April 24, 2020:

Just when you think it's cloudy with a chance of thunder showers, we find the right umbrella for protection. You are so right, it's not easy to find or come along.

Once we find those umbrella's we keep very close, with no consideration of ever letting go.

I love it! Brilliant piece
