The Galaxy Song - Mony Python

Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And revolving at 900 miles an hour
That's orbiting at 19 miles a second, so it's reckoned
A sun that is the source of all our power
The sun and you and me, and all the stars that we can see
Are moving at a million miles a day
In an outer spiral arm, at 40,000 miles an hour
Of the galaxy we call the Milky Way

Our galaxy itself contains 100 billion stars
It's 100,000 light years side-to-side
It bulges in the middle, 16,000 light years thick
But out by us it's just 3000 light years wide
We're 30,000 light years from galactic central point
We go round every 200 million years
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe

The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding
In all of the directions it can whiz
As fast as it can go, at the speed of light you know
Twelve million miles a minute and that's the fastest speed there is
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure
How amazingly unlikely is your birth
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space
Because there's bugger all down here on Earth

Our lives are ordered by the Divine so that nothing is too much. We are never given more than we can handle; but nothing is too loose either. We can always breathe, yes, but at times the water is up to where the wings of the nose barely touch. And as we grow? As we grow, the water rises. Still we are preserved from drowning. Thank you Petra,it is hard to choose. One of the main reasons I spend time putting these types of hubs together is quite selfish. I find that the research, examining the quotes I have, and getting appropriate visuals to bring them alive, influences my thinking in a very positive way. I find it's a combination of quite a few quotes that makes it even more inspiring. I really appreciate your visit and feedback. Russ x

Nice collection of inspiring quotes...I never feel more alive than when I am with friends sharing knowledge and experience gained in life...I am forever surprised by the complexity of the human condition...How each of us comes at it from different motivations, yet still retain the unexplainable interconnectivity we all have...in words we use, passions we express, or hopes and desires we feel...

The quote from Anias Nin " Life is a process of becoming, a combination of states we have to go through. Where people fail is that they wish to elect a state and remain in it. This is a kind of death." is particularity appealing to me...Life is process, and like my Irish grandmother would succinctly say " Move or die..."... and yes, you've got to have fun, everyday... Go well, my friend...Larry
