In the turbulent sea of humanity

A stormy sea

A stormy sea

in-the-turbulent-sea-of-humanity

Restoring our faith in humanity

A restless sea of tumult

Waves tossing, up and down

A sea of struggles and passion in

Which I am wont to drown.

Treading, alone in this restless sea

Hanging on for dear life -

In a sea of constant gushing waves

And continued strife.

Submerged, alone, a struggle

To be virtuous and kind -

To struggling others I may meet,

Swimming through this grind.

Battling selfish desire not

To save others I may see

Scroll to Continue

Confused in my own struggles

I merely let them be

in-the-turbulent-sea-of-humanity
A Stormy Sea at night

A Stormy Sea at night

in-the-turbulent-sea-of-humanity

Books you may like

Swimming in this great sea,

A struggle great to give

The very essence of myself

So others on may live.

To ride the roaring, raucous waves,

I must be patient, enduring

Of others as they struggle, tug

In this sea so obscuring

When I am asked, “Will you save?”

I dare not say for sooth -

While in the sea, my morals crossed

I dare not speak the truth.

As I battle onward with the sea

I struggle with my pride

That I may win, not with help, but

With my gifts, in my own time

Yet there is in this tussle

A fact to understand -

To swim this great sea of life

You need another’s hand.

This is very interesting! The struggles we face in our everyday lives and the decisions we have to make with regard to others and ourselves is so nicely portrayed in your poetry. We are all in this "sea of humanity" together and with helping hands we will be better prepared to withstand the turbulent waters. Up votes and definitely sharing!

Michelle,

This poem is beautiful but yet also very convicting! It makes us think of our priorities. I thought of humility on this one! Are we thinking of only ourselves or others? Great insightful poem Michelle!
