In Honor of April's Poetry Month

sensual-pleasures

Lets String one along

In honor of April Poetry Month Lets string one big long poem that will go from now until April 30th... Lets continue where the next poem left off.

A little game plan. ( or rules )

You must follow the theme of the the poem.. and some writers can darken it gradually or make it lighter gradually.. but there can be no big difference. You can continue adding pieces to the poem even if you already have a link to the poem chain. However, you cannot follow your own link.

Each poem must be 10 lines or less.. and please in a second text box explain your poem and who you are and what changes you made to the poem... Dark photos are so welcomed.. your own shots if possible and explain why you used those shots.. Lets have fun... Frank

the poem title: Spirits Sat as Mourners

He knew

As death grew,

The lights were dimmer,

As the darkness began to shimmer,

Eyes would glow

As the candles in back

Burnt low

And spirits sat as mourners

Massed together all in a row…

Phyllis Doyle Burns from High desert of Nevada. on April 16, 2014:

You are most welcome, Frank. Thank you for pulling all of us together to create an awesome epic poem.

I wish there is some way you can publish it on HP -- but, it would be duplicate and not allowed, unless we all delete our poems. Maybe you can put the whole thing in an eBook and publish it on Amazon Kindle?

If you need help compiling it, I will be honored to help and I am sure some of your other poets would help also.

Frank Atanacio (author) from Shelton on April 16, 2014:

thank you guys for picking each other up.. and I will get to all these wonderful pieces.. im so lucky to have gifted poets continue this poem always, examiner, phyillis Jodah et al bless you guys

That is a wonderful idea, Faith. Yes, Frank, please add the last stanza to this epic poem you started for all of us.

Frank Atanacio (author) from Shelton on April 11, 2014:

thanks Faith :)

Faith Reaper from southern USA on April 10, 2014:

Bless you too. I hope you will add the final stanza on the last day of April to end this epic poem?

Frank Atanacio (author) from Shelton on April 10, 2014:

Again thanks so much Faith for all your Faith I know I missed a great deal and I have been searching for the ones I missed too.. I wann make sure I read them all.. bless you :)

Faith Reaper from southern USA on April 10, 2014:

Hi Frank,

I believe this one will go down in history as an epic poem for sure! I saw someone, who I do not follow, had published a contribution yesterday at lunch, but I ran out of time before I could read, share and let you know of her contribution. I will try to find her again. I happened to notice her under someone else's hub where they place other hubs in this topic. Oh, do you know if most placed their contribution under Contests and Hub Challenges or under Poetry? I started out under Contests and Challenges but then changed it to poetry. Just curious what topic are they publishing under.

Have a great weekend!

Frank Atanacio (author) from Shelton on April 10, 2014:

thanks so much Faith I hope you keep adding to this long poem..:)

Faith Reaper from southern USA on April 09, 2014:

Morning Frank, I love participating in challenges too, especially when they encourage us to write out of our normal genre of writing to stretch our writing abilities a bit. It is a pleasure to share with HP and everywhere all of the great poetry and it is good for each other to show support for all participating in a challenge. It is good for the HP community too. At least I believe so. Blessings.

John Hansen from Gondwana Land on April 09, 2014:

It was a pleasure Frank. I love these challenges and thrive on being part of something a little different to my normal writing.

Frank Atanacio (author) from Shelton on April 09, 2014:

Jodah, Faith what Im saying is that if it weren't for you guys I would have fallen flat on my face.. just wanna thank you guys for giving this the push that it needed..:) bless you both... Moms.. I will check it out now girl :)

Lissette from Central Florida on April 08, 2014:

I should have read all the comments. I want to read all of the challenges. I wrote off of Jodah's since I found you two today.

There is something I made for you guys on it. It was my way of showing your works without having my work flagged for plagiarism. Feel free to take it :)

https://hubpages.com/literature/Spirits-Sat-as-Mou...

Lissette from Central Florida on April 08, 2014:

Stopped in for a visit and found this fun scavenger hunt of a poem. Wonder where it will take me... exciting.

Faith Reaper from southern USA on April 08, 2014:

Sorry, Frank, but I have been sharing all contributions with HubPages after each time I read one to encourage more participation. So if you need me to stop at this point I will? I noticed I have not seen Phyllis Doyle's contribution, so I need to read here as well. I did not realize phdast had participated until I followed shyrone's contribution. But as long as we do not follow our own, I guess that is fine as your rules state, then it is no big deal if we get a bit out of order. It has been fun reading all of the wonderful contributions. Off to read Phyllis' poem! Have a blessed day.

John Hansen from Gondwana Land on April 08, 2014:

Oops, sorry I lit that match Frank..lol. Didn't mean to make so much work for you.

Frank Atanacio (author) from Shelton on April 08, 2014:

again thanks so much for continuing to feed this small piece.. annart, you know I thought I had it under control.. but this took off like wild fire and once Jodah lit the match I fell flat on my face.. I will pull it together and get some sort of order out of it, but I'm trying to read all who entered and will find them if they haven't sent me a link yet.. but it's but going so well I just let it continue to ride..:)

Phyllis Doyle Burns from High desert of Nevada. on April 07, 2014:

If everyone who submits a stanza will come here to Frank's comment section and post just the link to their poem as soon as the publish it, it will help Frank and all of us keep the poems in order.

I thought I was following AliciaC because I did not see Jo's till after I submitted my poem. So, Jo's, tobusiness, was written before mine I think.

Phyllis Doyle Burns from High desert of Nevada. on April 07, 2014:

annart, it is in order as best as I know. except for the last one Jo/tobusiness wrote. I did not see any mention of that one in this comment section and just happened to see it in the news feed:

tobusiness

A Poem :The Charge Of The Light

https://hubpages.com/literature/A-Poem-The-Charge-...

I believe this one was written before mine, so it may be mixed up at the end of my list. The list I posted just above here is hard to read because it did not come out the way I typed it. but, if you just make a list of each link, starting from the top, it is in good order I believe.

Ann Carr from SW England on April 07, 2014:

So glad you've got this list; I've lost track of it now though I have a few on my links! Are you going to put it all together in some order some day? That will be quite a task! Ann

I am on my phone so I cannot link at the moment but I will do so after I arrive home. Blessings, Faith Reaper

John Hansen from Gondwana Land on March 30, 2014:

That's weird Shyron, I had the same thing happen with my hub 'Coffee in the Morning' but originally got it passed....not sure if they thought the poem was duplicated or some of the facts. Don't know how your verse for this was duplicated, unless when we copy the other hubber's previous verses before ours they class it as duplicate...maybe that's it.

Shyron E Shenko from Texas on March 30, 2014:

HP would not let me publish mine, they say it is duplicated. And my verse is my own words not copied.

What is going on with me is that I cannot get past a title for my hub lol, so I cannot even go further to write the hub and publish it. It is asking that I need to verify my permalink before I can even go further? Which I do not know what that means. I will ask a question about it.

Hugs,
