It is almost that time of the year again. You know, the time of year when you see people decorate their homes with ugly, Petrifying Halloween decorations.

What you will need:

  • For this treat, it will require one (18.25-ounce) box of vanilla or chocolate cake mix. you can choose which you desire.
  • One (16.5-ounce) container chocolate or white frosting, you decide which frosting you would like.
  • 1/8 teaspoon green food color
  • 24 vanilla or chocolate sugar cones
  • 24 chocolate wafers
  • 72 candy corn candies

What you will need to do:

You will need to streak two 12-cup cupcake pans with paper liners. Pour the cake batter into the pans and bake at 350 degrees for 14 minutes; let it cool.

After it cools, combine the frosting in a medium bowl with green food color; blend well. Slice the sugar cones in half crossway; store the wide halves for a different use.

Finally, attach the pointed bottom half of each cone using frosting as glue to a chocolate wafer, forming witch's hats. Put a sugar cone on each cupcake top for the witch's hat with the remaining frosting.

To make the eyes pointed-side up two pieces of candy corn by pushing them into each cupcake. Then to make each nose lay one candy corn flat on the cupcake. Last, cover freely until serve. This will make 24 Witch's Cupcakes.

Note: The unused sugar cones are splendid when broken up and utilize for topping decorations.

You do not have to stop with the Witch’s Cupcakes. Moreover, if you want to make virtuosity, but simple Halloween treats that are extra tasty, so you can skip the store-bought cookies.

They can be hard and stale, so why not channel your inner strength by whipping up some moist homemade treats that are sure to please the kids. The kids will love this take on the perfect batch of Cobweb cookies that are the only kind, the children would not be afraid of getting caught up in and getting eaten by a spider. They are bound to bring out the fun and perfect for handing out to trick or treaters.

You will need 160g/5.5 oz. all-purpose/plain flour, two tablespoons cocoa powder (optional, for chocolate flavor), 100g/4 oz. butter, refrigerated, 50g/2 oz. Superfine/caster sugar, two tablespoons milk, White writing icing. First, sift the flour into the mixing bowl. Add the cocoa powder.

Cut the butter into small pieces. Rub the pieces into the flour and cocoa until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Add the sugar and stir through. Tip in the milk. Stir with a fork. Mix until it forms a dough. Use your hands to roll this into a ball of dough. Wrap the dough in a plastic food wrap. Place in the refrigerator to chill for 20 minutes.

After it has chilled for 20 minutes, preheat the oven to 180ºC/350ºF. Line the baking sheets with parchment paper in readiness for use. Take out the chilled dough from the refrigerator.

Reel the dough on a surface sprinkled with flour, to prevent sticking. Roll the dough to a thickness of 5mm/ 1/4 inch. Cut out circles in the dough. Either use a circle cookie cutter or the open end of an average-sized glass. Arrange the cut cookies on the baking sheets. Put in the oven.

Cook in the oven for 10-12 minutes. After 10-12 minutes, remove the cookies from the oven when baked. Let it sit for five minutes on the cookie dough sheets, then remove and allow them to cool off on a wire cooling rack before icing.

Adding the Cobweb Designs

To create the cobweb designs, beginning in the middle of each cookie. Draw a spiral design with the white writing icing. Continue piping the spiral. Pipe the frosting evenly from the center-right out to the edge of the cookie.

Use the toothpick to add the web effects. Starting at the center, drag the toothpick to the outer edge. Aim to do this about 6-8 times around the whole cookie, dividing it into equal pie slice shapes. Repeat with the remaining cookies. When finished, you will have a batch of cobweb cookies that trick-or-treat candy replacements.

Notes: To help the cookies hold moisture put a sheet of wax paper in the middle of each layer if you plan on having them around for a couple of days.
