How to Design the Pages of Your E-Book

Write your e-book in a word processing program, such as Google Doc or Microsoft Word. Let your cover be the first page you designed in Canva, then include text pages with a heading and footer. You can use photos throughout the book if you like depending on the information you provide.

Set up your document to include an automatic table of content. Every time you insert new text or delete text, the document will automatically adjust your table of contents to reflect the changes in page numbers. Any word processing you use will also have a spell checker.

After you are satisfied with your pages, you can export your project directly into a Portable Document Format (PDF). The PDF then becomes the e-book that you can sell. PDF files are the easiest to publish an eBook in. Readers have no problem downloading and reading PDFs.

Selling your e-book on your own is easy and convenient. The drawback is that you will not get the exposure that you would get if you used Amazon. When you do everything yourself, you keep all of the profits, you have complete control over how your book is displayed and distributed, plus you get to retain all of the contact information about your customers for sales of other books.

After you sell your e-book on your own, you can still sell it on Amazon.
