Prompt From Brenda Arledge

Brenda Arledge has given us a new prompt, which is hope. The rules are simple as you can write a poem, song or story. Her prompts have triggered a great deal of interest, and many people are now writing poetry who have not written in the past.

I am one of those people. I have not written poetry since I was in high school until now. I have found that I enjoy the challenges. I also enjoy reading what others write in response to her prompts.

Gabby Barrett - I Hope

Money is to short to pay the bills

Expensive medicine, too many pills,

Buying groceries to make the meals

Shopping carefully, looking for deals

My hope is in the Lord

Living a hollow life of emptiness

But strive and look for happiness,

Supporting my family and friends

Simply looking for a few wins,

My hope is in the Lord

hope-inthe-lord-per-brenda-arledge

Stay positive when things look gray

The darkness will surely go away

Mistakes occur on too many days

People gossip in so many ways,

My hope is in the Lord

We struggle to make ends meet

Success makes everything sweet,

Worry about tomorrow doesn’t help

Happy smiles will always be felt

My hope is in the Lord

Trust yourself more, worry less

After all we can only do our best,

Peace and love that is our goal

Praying each day for our soul

My hope is in the Lord
