My Heart is Always There - but you have to look closely to see it.....
47 Years After and I'm Still Pushin'
So, in 1975 my song 'Home is Where My Heart is" traveled from Boston all the way to Nashville where it landed on the desk of Mr. Ed Penny, noted songwriter and mogul.
Dave Maynard of 50,000 watt WBZ radio in Boston loved it so much that he contacted Penny (also at one time. a Boston D-J) in Music City.
Ed Penny said he enjoyed my little tune and would present it to the number one country singer of the 1970s and 80s - Mr. Conway Twitty.
Long story short - the song never did much of anything. It has been gathering dust for about a half century....but I still am in love with it and I'm still pushing it. to wit.....
'I know last night you heard me sneak in. It was two a.m. when I creeped in. And when I got beneath the cover, you could tell I'd been with another.
You pretended you were sleepin' but I heard your muffled weepin' And in the cold light this mornin', I I know I have had my last warnin'.
But I'm begging you, please don't throw me out again. Home is where the heart is, and mine was home by ten!"
Well, that's my song (actually, just the first part of it) and I'm stickin' to it. It's going to be on the Grand Ol Opry some night - well 'prolly' not, but you never know, It just might!
