Has Covid-19 Claimed Exclusive License-to-Kill?

Author:

Val enjoys writing prose in rhymes by always leaving a message of a life truism in each piece.

Introduction

Really folks, what ever happened with this year's deadly flu season? There are no reports of anybody dying from it -- or, for some mysterious reason it decided to miss us this year in support to the stardom of COVID-19.

Now, I don't know if this is one of the less known symptoms of COVID-19, and supposing that I got infected, is it possible it's giving me this attacks of silliness.

Now, not that I have made myself a reputation of a very serious dude, and my age of 76 surely gives me some kind of excuse, but the more this much-advertised crap is going on, the less I believe in it.

The result of this silly spell could be evident in the following pieces of my prose in rhymes.

COVID-19 Almost Makes You Miss the Flu Season

Hey, aren't you all missing the good old flu

not because dying from it is much more fun

but because it's sounding so much more true

than this microbial assassin with a dubious gun.

Hundreds of thousands die each flu season

but there is no mention of the dead this time

those officials not giving us any valid reason

conspiracy theories smelling a Pharma crime.

Media in their global fear-mongering fever

scaring us all shitless with all fatality cases

people going brainwashed by that deceiver

with corona spreading without spared places.

Panic causing our immunity to go sharply down

and authorities know it -- but still spreading fear

they make it look like the only sickness in town

at times almost hinting at our end coming near.

We have already had pandemics before

and yearly flu is qualifying for one as well

but this is now turning into something more

if anyone is behind it -- it is impossible to tell.

Well, we're bound to hear much more of the same

everyone will be dying just from this single bug

let us hope it's not just another business game

psyching us up for massive use of their drug.

Let's Rejoice! Vaccine Is Coming!

Are you desperate for vaccine

I don't want to rain on that parade

but it's the biggest show world has seen

let's just hope corona leaves once they get paid.

Media has done fabulously effective ad

the one no mortal could easily resist

vaccines just might turn into a fad

with new viruses making a list.

But what happens when we get hit by new strain

are we going to see a replay of all this charade

with this year's vaccine going down the drain

letting us wait for some months for upgrade.

Let us invade every hospital and clinic

to receive this precious, life saving shot

sorry if I'm sounding like a first class cynic

but if it comes from media, I don't trust it a lot.

But don't mind me, get your vaccination

let's hope the crap comes in good supply

vaccinating a world beats my imagination

especially thinking of profits going sky-high.

Finally We Are All Equal -- Thanks to Masks

Like band of bank robbers we hide our faces

believing how damn virus can't sneak behind

listening to reports of new coronavirus cases

all-in-all choosing this bug for losing our mind.

This mask business has turned quite fashion trend

and maybe we'll keep them after the bug is gone

it's become a steady companion, almost friend

now more important than a makeup to put on.

These masks coming in every color n' shape

I've even seen funny one with a gorilla's face

a dude hardly waiting to be recognized as ape

but maybe just mocking the whole human race.

I wouldn't blame him, at times I feel the same

seeing this charade, and being its part as well

and I will be admitting here without any shame

I simply refuse to fall under that hypnotic spell.

I wear the mask, not really for my protection

but not wanting to be like spreader of disease

even though masks are not warding off infection

well, let everyone believe whatsoever they please.

So let's breathe into mask instead of paper bag

with reduced oxygen going confused and dizzy

but even though it's all turning into a damn drag

this wearing a mask has been nothing but easy.

Governments have over reacted to the pandemic. In the UK, the government had been running the health service down for over 10 years. Now their lack of investment in staff and infrastructure has caught up with them.

Peggy and Sherry -- Those are irrefutable facts, and what remains is how we are emotionally responding to them, whether to ruin our immune system by listening to daily reports of new deaths, worrying over possibility of us and dear ones getting infected -- or we minimize that possibility by taking an attitude of a superficial, mild concern.

We can't worry enough to change the facts, and sometimes in life a dose of white lies helps -- not a serious "denial" of facts. After all, we daily think of ourselves as beautiful to boost our self-esteem -- but no Hollywood impresario might share our opinion. LOL -- Everyone, please lighten up, enjoy this life, and have yourselves a very Merry Christmas and a better New Year.

A flu season that kills 60,000 in the US is a very deadly one. We are well over 300,000 dead from covid this year and adding thousands more each day

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on December 24, 2020:

All we need to do is ask the overworked doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, and others if they think that this pandemic is a hoax. They are exhausted mentally and physically, caring for those who are ill, and so many who continue to die. Stay safe!

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on December 24, 2020:

Wishing you a brilliantly Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Nicoartz -- I am glad you liked them all. I certainly had fun writing them.

Great set of poetry. I loved all of them, brilliant stuff. The boogie-man has taken a new form "the coronavirus". Do what they say or it will get you.
