"Good People"...Please, Gather Around.

Just me, explaining myself through Poetry words. Words that have been in my head for years. Now inviting you to read and see what you think?

This "Poem" is based on a Movie Title Song: "One Tin Soldier". The Song puts together a great Tale on the idea and premise of the Movie: "Billy Jack". Both, the Song and the Movie give a moral lesson at the end of each one. If you have seen the Movie, (Back in the Day) then you would understand the moral lesson that both Song and Movie manage to convey.

If you haven't seen the Movie (An "Oldie" but a "Goodie"...in true Early '70's fashion)...it may be worth your time to see it...and hopefully enjoy it for the depiction of the times...with One Man willing to make a Stand.

This Poem was written many years ago. However, recently I have re-visited it, and gave it a few extra tweaks to go along with the many truths found associated with this Poem. Not because of anything I try and get across "Poem-atically" ! But, because of the message inside the Poem for us all to get along...which was displayed through out the movie: "Billy Jack" (Done in 1971...with many stereotypes of the time). I, personally, have always enjoyed this Movie...and the theme behind it. (And, especially liked how One Man was able to persevere and make a Stand through all the tragedy and craziness that was around him.)

For more about "Good People" rising up in the land...Please read my Poem below.

This Poem is Dedicated to: Tom Laughlin: 1931 - 2013, and his Spouse: Delores Taylor: 1932 - 2018. (May They Rest In Peace)

This Poem Idea Originates from the Title Song to the Movie: "Billy Jack" (Made in 1971)

Where have all the “Good People” gone?

"Good People" are hard to find...

They’ll do anything for you…and they won’t mind.

"Good People"…I used to try hard to be one...

Now forget it…I’m tired to try to be one…I’m done.

You used to find more "Good People"...when you looked around...

But everywhere I look...I see..."Good People" are hard to be found.

When has "Bad" become good...and "Good" become bad...

What has happened to all the "Good People"...it's kind'a sad.

Bad People...always seem to get their way...

And...stick it to the "Good People" ...and leave them a tab left to pay...

However...I know the "Good People" will press on....though they're beaten down...

Thank you, Lord for the "Good People"...We always need their kind around.

Why on this Earth...would anyone even try to do anything "good"...?

Because No One on this Earth would notice...and you'd think they would.

"Good People"...usually stand out in a crowd...all the time...

They always have your back...and they don't mind.

Though it takes special "Good People" to defeat what is bad...

And even then...they hardly make a difference... not even a tad.

Calling all "Good People"…Please, gather around…And, it all gets quiet...

No "Good People" here…the people I see here are about to start a riot.

Why do the wicked ones...always seem to prevail?

Why do they always put "Good People"...through such travail?

When will the next “Good People” rise up once again?

When will they stop letting the Bad People...always win?

Calling all "Good People" on this planet…who have been good to us all...

We need more "Good People" to help pick us up when we fall.

Better yet…"Good People"…get away from us…We’re not deserving...

Go…help yourself for a change…Save yourself from a World that's burning.

Oh, "Good People"…Why is there such a distinction between us?

Because we know ultimately...in the end run…it 's you we can trust.

And so...the "Good People" all left...and went away...

Far from the Bad People…who had all gone astray.

The "Good People" formed a new civilization...their own tribe...

To help keep the “Good People”...Way of Life.

Yet...the Bad People came after them…because that’s what they do...

And...you couldn't find one "Good Person" left…when they were through.

"Good People"…Who have risen up once again in the land...

It’s your turn to live …Get away from Bad People as fast as you can.

The Bad People will use you only for their own amusement...

Then, they will continue their ways…and never repent.

For every time that you have tried to make "good"...

Will never change those who are Evil and Shrewd.

And so...the Story lives on and on...right up...until this day...

That nothing "good" comes from those who try to do things the "Good People" Way.

When the "Good People" set out to help make things...as "good" as they could...

They got beaten down once again...because really...No One wants to be "good".

Is there anyone left who remembers the "good" that those People tried to do...?

The "Good People" have all vanished...So Now it's up to Me and You!

Calling all "Good People"... Are there any more "Good People" out there?

Billy Jack's Hat

Lyrics to the Song:

ONE TIN SOLDIER

(The Legend of Billy Jack)
words and music by Dennis Lambert and Brian Potter
Song Copyright © 1969 by ABC / Dunhill Music, Inc.

Listen children to a story that was written long ago
'bout a kingdom on a mountain and the valley folk below.
On the mountain was a treasure buried deep beneath a stone,
and the valley people swore they'd have it for their very own.

Go ahead and hate your neighbor, go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of heaven, justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowin' come the judgment day
on the bloody morning after one tin soldier rides away.

So the people of the valley sent a message up the hill
asking for the buried treasure, tons of gold for which they'd kill.
Came an answer from the kingdom: "With our brothers we will share
all the secrets of our mountain, all the riches buried there."

Go ahead and hate your neighbor, go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of heaven, justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowin' come the judgment day
on the bloody morning after one tin soldier rides away.

Now the valley cried with anger; mount your horses, draw your sword,
and they killed the mountain people, so they won their just reward.
Now they stood beside the treasure on the mountain, dark and red,
turned the stone and looked beneath it. "Peace on earth" was all it said.

Go ahead and hate your neighbor, go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of heaven, justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowin' come the judgment day
on the bloody morning after one tin soldier rides away.

You may like this Movie from the Past...and its Theme Song...if you haven't seen it. But, I hope you enjoyed my Poem Idea done around the Central Theme of both.
