Give Me Living Water! a Lyrical Spiritual Poem.
Lyrical Poetry- Spoken words with music.
lyrical poetry are spoken words accompanied with music or spoken in a way that resembles a song. In biblical times the Hebrews would sing praises and worship the Creator in song and dance, the bible identifies them as Psalms.
I have always been drawn to Psalms. I love the way the Hebrews worshiped God, the way they cried out to God, and was so thankful to God. They worshiped God from a purity within their hearts this can only come from a spiritual awakening that signify' s a relationship with the Creator.
The Hebrews recognized the Almighty through creation and nature they glorified Him from the works of His hands to His unlimited wisdom. Their heartfelt worship is the most purest form of worship I ever heard.
Having Love for God is satisfying. The only kind of love that will complete and heal you. He is the balm, the medicine, that can heal you from the inside and it will show on the outside. As you read this poem I pray music plays in your heart as it did in mine when I wrote it. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy it.
Jesus is the living water. He says those who thirst for life shall come to Him.
Group poll
Come quench your thirst from the river of life.
I lived the life of a sojourner, traveling to and fro...
I knew something was missing...
Though what I did not know...
I grew tired from my journey...
And said within my soul...
I'm weary from this traveling...
We have no place to go...
I never felt so empty...
Never have I felt so cold...
But then my spirit rejoiced in me...
When a voice spoke in my soul...
*****************************************
"I Am the living water...
The water that you seek...
Those of you who thirst for life...
Shall therefore come to Me...
I'm intoxicating...
Invigorating...
My water will healeth thee...
For I Am the river of life!
That quenches the thirst in thee"
**********************************
I ran back to my bretherens...
And their eyes opened wide...
I wasn't the same person that left...
Their eyes could not deny...
I departed from them in brokenness...
But returned whole and alive...
And when I told them of my journey...
They screamed into the sky...
**************************************
"Oh give us Living Water!
This water that healeths thee!
We understand that we were blind!
But now we surely see!
He's intoxicating!
Invigorating!
The medicine our souls need!
Please give us living water!
Our souls thirst so for Thee!
***************************************
Sing praises to the water!
The river that flows with life!
Oh bless the Living Water!
That rejuvenates, and revives!
He's intoxicating!
Rejuvenating!
Our souls are thirsting for Thee!
Oh bless the Living Water!
Living Water...
I'm thirsting...
For Thee.
There's healing in the power of worship, thanksgiving and praise.
The books of Psalms are filled with beautiful poetic expressions of worship, thanksgiving and praise. The Israelite's used poetry in hope, despair, trials and tribulations to communicate with God. To this day we still study psalms as away of encouragement. Knowing that we aren't alone in our struggles helps us to cope in our day to day situations.
Heal and rebuild through the powerful love of Jesus.
We are all searching for something in life. There's a hole in our hearts- a void- that we try to fill with people or material objects. But haven't you noticed after buying all the things you want? Or, finally conquering that person you swore would make you happy, you still fill empty? Oh, I'm sure that for a while you feel satisfied, but it's just a temporary satisfaction. Money and material things cannot fill that emptiness inside our hearts. Material possessions cannot provide us with a love that heals and rebuilds. Jesus warns us in Matthew 6:19. Not to store up treasures on earth. Earthly possessions are like fools gold beautiful and shiny but in the end they hold no true value. Material possessions depreciate in value, while wisdom and understanding appreciates with time. Get wisdom, and in all your getting, get understanding that is the only treasure that will stand the test of time.
Water the significance of it and it's meaning.
Water represents renewing, cleansing and growth. When you are thirsty a drink of water will satisfy you. When you feel dirty water cleanses you and when you are baptized water renews you. There is such a significance placed on water, when you feel stressed the sound of water will relax you. Water is vital and necessary for our lives. In the gospel of John Jesus tells the Samaritan woman at the well that the water she drinks will make her thirsty again. However, He could give her living water, referring to the gift of eternal life, that would satisfy her soul. This gift only comes from Jesus Christ. Eternal life comes through Him which, our soul greatly desires.
Why so many Christians love the book of Psalms.
Psalms are a collection of poems/ songs in the Hebrew and Christian bibles. Psalms are read and meditated on mainly by people who are hurting and praying for something specific such as:
- deliverance
- blessings
- healing
- guidance
- protection
Psalms are also perfect for prayer. If a person is going through something they can always find a psalm that will relate to their situation. My personal favorites are the psalms on wisdom and the praises for the wonderful works of creation. We can just imagine the overflowing love of the Jews, for His mercy is truly great.
Meditating on the book of songs will uplift you, encourage you and enlighten you in situations that appear hopeless. Psalms are very helpful in times of sorrow and feelings of loneliness. Many of the obstacles the Hebrews faced, we are still going through today.
What do you think?

Thank you Michael. I love the word you used "invitation" that is exactly what is is. An invitation to be blessed with the cooling-refreshing healing of the Lord. He is a love that is so satisfying and the water will flow deep for those who believe in Him. Thank you for reading and leaving such a beautiful comment.

Hello Dana Tate.
Inspirational and uplifting.
Why I was reading ' Oh blessed Living water ?' Inspired by the words of your poem, I heard once again the greatest invitation ," If anyone is thirsty let him come to Me and drink..." Only He satisfies ! We come to Him believing , we do trust His spiritual blessing only to become consummation of His promise ' Streams of living water will flow from deep within the person who believes in me' (GW Transl.)
"Oh bless the Living Water"
Voted up and beautiful.
Shalom.

LadyFiddler: yes, I can relate to the story of the woman at the well also. Searching for something missing, acquiring but never being satisfied until I feel in love with Jesus. He is a love that is so satisfying. Thank you so much for your beautiful comment and visit.
Joanna Chandler from Caribbean on November 17, 2014:
Wells of water ever springing draw from my well that never runs dry. Like a woman at the well i was seeking for the things that could not satisfied. Then i heard my Saviour speaking saying draw from my well that never runs dry....... We so need to keep drawing from God's well to get all the good things inside us to help purge out the negative energy that is around us.
God's water is forever bubbling in our souls, once we let it.
Thank you for sharing this poem.

Lovely poem. I am not a churchy person, but the Christ I read about in the Bible wasn't either, which is why he was constantly taking on the Pharisees. Nonetheless Christ is my guiding light and I give him thanks daily. Great poem.

I was also discouraged and felt exactly the same way, that those I shared with just didn't appreciate my gifts as well. Until I read Scribal Purpose by Theresa Harvard Johnson. The Lord opened my eyes to see creative writing in a new way, it is really ministry. Every poem you write has the ability to shed light in others. Here is an excerpt from Scribal Purpose. If you like I can send you a pdf copy if you send me your email address. The Lord is doing a new thing through your writings pouring in the oil and wine for you to bless the wounded and hurting in the world, so be encouraged and tell discouragement to get under the blood of Jesus Christ.
Excerpt
My first love is poetry and it has been since my youth. Poetry for me is a way of expressing God’s position on matters creatively and then stating what it is going to take to change the world from his perspective. There was a time when the Lord would release a poem from my spirit and I would run to those closest to pointed and frustrated because those with whom I’d wanted to share didn’t seem the least bit interested. I had to realize that there are many believers who just aren’t interested in writing or they’ve never really considered it as being an integral part of
ministry.
Over time, I became discouraged and soon stopped sharing the writings the Lord would give me with them. Instead, I began sharing with other poets and writers who not only enjoyed the art form, but who had the same heart for the creative word that I did. There were times when I would find myself looking out into the congregation as people would talk about prophetic dancing,
the praise and worship ministry, the drama groups, the steppers, the musicians, the shofar blowers, and even the prophetic visual artists – but for the scribe, there seemed to be very little conversation, compassion, understanding or even respect. Quite honestly, my spirit was grieved because I knew within my heart that poets, spoken word ministers, and other creative writers were just as important to the body. But when you look at a person
who writes acrostics, haiku or prose and then look at
someone who plays the piano – who do you think most people will place the most value upon concerning ministry?
me to share it. I was so excited about the creativity of the word pouring from me, and how much it lined up with the word of God.

Mabelhenry: Not only are you blessed, but you have been a blessing to me. To have someone of your caliber offer such kind and generous words regarding my work is an honor. The Lord is so awesome!. When I woke up this morning I wasn't feeling so great, I hope I can share with you that sometimes I don't feel like my spiritual work is appreciated. And although the Lord informed His saints the road would not be easy, the indifference and sometimes out-right hostility towards the saints are hurtful. I have been thinking of looking for a place just for spiritual work where the work is expected and appreciated. I know the Holy Spirit spoke through you with your beautiful words to encourage me not to become weary. So I say praise God, and thank you Mabelhenry. You have truly and sincerely uplifted, and encouraged me. May the Lord continue to bless u for you are dearly loved by me, as my sister and fellow soldier for our Lord Jesus Christ. Your encouragement and constant support of my spiritual work is such a pleasure.

We are called to edify and encourage one another in Christ Jesus. You are blessed and you are a blessing.
Just Shine On! (Poem)
Wherever you go, and
Wherever He sends you,
Just shine on!
You are blessed, and
You are a blessing,
You have a way about you
That declares God is real!
You are always friendly,
Amicable and gregariously sincere!
Be encouraged, and know, that
He will lead you, and guide you,
By the power of His might,
He is your buckler, strength, and
Your high tower,
Just do what you do best,
Shine on!
