How to become an author?

How to become an author?

Introduction

Do you know you have the ability to become an author? There are many myths in the market regarding this topic.

Many people told me I am not a good writer. But I remember I was a good story-teller and I still tell stories to my friends. I always wanted to build my career by writing. I always believed that one day I could achieve my goals despite others’ viewpoint.

Now, when I share my articles and writing with other writer friends they used to say that I write so simple even their kids can understand easily.

If you want to become an author and want to explore this system then read this article. I am busting many myths related to this topic.

Through this article, I want to convince you that it is possible to become a published author even by sitting at home. So, let’s begin.

There Are Many Books On My Topic

Yes, this is true but your viewpoints can be different from someone else. So, people might like to read your thoughts regarding that topic.

For example, the articles which I write on Hubpages forum regarding that I am sure someone else have also expressed their view. Yet, others are also reading my articles. I also started with zero views but over time my readership grew. And now it is increasing day by day.

In the same way, there are many audiences who love to watch movies. And they keep on watching movies after movies. In the same way, there are readers who love to read more and more books.

So, there are chances they might read your next book. And now by using digital platforms, the world is an open market for you.

I Am Not An Expert

Whenever we think of writing any book then our logical brain says, no, we are not an expert. It tells us that we are not an expert and cannot write. But this is not a true case. You don’t have to become the only expert to write a book. Let me explain this point with some examples.

When you are in the tenth standard then you are already an expert in the eyes of students who are below you. In the same way, if you have eight years of working experience then you are an expert in the eyes of passing out graduates. So, never think that you need to be the most expert person to write your book.

I Am Not A Writer

If you know how to write in English and how to write good English then you can definitely become an author. You only need to have the intention and desire to write.

Writing is all about your mindset. You have to come out of that feeling and there are many techniques by which you can certainly write your book in the next thirty to forty-five days max.

If you think you are not a writer then even great William Shakespear or
J. K. Rowling might have thought in the same way before writing their first book.

You can use the technique which is known as free-flow writing. First, decide your topic and then start writing and write anything that comes to your mind but it should relate to the chosen topic. Write for at least twenty-thirty minutes without any disturbance.

I personally use this technique and by using this I can complete my article in almost 90 minutes. But since I have been writing on a consistent basis for the last year I have no issue in writing more than two thousand words on daily basis. See it’s all about mindset.

Who Can Earn Money Through Writing Books?

Now many people think they cannot earn money by writing books and this is the pessimist view about writing a book. If you can write a book then you will get five major benefits:

i) You can build your authority and you will get the recognition
ii) People will consider you as an expert
iii) You will leave a legacy in your name and congratulations you are now a part of history as an author
iv) Writing books can become another source of lifelong income
v) By using books you can build your other business

I have just shared five benefits of writing a book but in actuality, there are many benefits of writing a book. So, start writing as a hobby.

The secret is the more books you can write and showcase in front of the right audience, the then you will make more money. So, consistency is the key and you can now publish your book/ebooks by sitting in your home.

I Have No Command Over Language

Many people have a myth and they believe they need to write English like William Shakespeare. No, you don’t need to write like him as you cannot think like him.

You just need to follow the proper grammar and you need to write in simple English. Your words and sentences should be easy to read and understand. Write in such a way that even the fifth standard kids can understand.

Nowadays, people don’t like to check the dictionary to find out many difficult words. Since people don’t have much time to read, they like to read simple and fast.

People want quick solutions and they don’t want to spend a good amount of time reading complicated words. Try using as many complicated words and you are going to turn off your prospective readers in the future.

I Need To Write A Big Thick Book

This is another big myth which people have. They think they need to write three hundred pages of books. No, there is no particular words within which your book should complete.

It entirely depends upon the author and his topic. If you can complete your book within fifteen thousand words after editing then also you are in a good position to publish your book. Your book words don’t define your book, it’s the actual content that defines your book.

Conclusion

So, you see there are many myths in the market regarding this topic. But I do believe anyone with dedication and desire can become an author. I have also written another article regarding the difference between self-publishing and traditional publishing. If you like you can check that out too.
