Food and Love Are Connected

We all know what love is. At the simplest level, love just means intimated connected to somebody else that is not only soul-soothing but also deeply fulfilling and nourishing. And one of the best ways to increase this intimacy is through food.

Food and love, there can be no denying of the fact that they are both inextricably connected and hit the very centers of our brain that produce dopamine, the hormone for happiness that makes us feel good. In fact studies has shown that we reach our closest level in relationships through food, plain and simple.

And here are some haikus that connects food, love and everything in between.

Tomato Ketchup

Ketchup is comfort food,

comfort for me to eat her stuff

and praise her cooking.

Pizza

Pizza tastes divine,

nibbling together in bites

until our lips meet.

Spinach Dip

Tasty spinach dip,

becomes, even more, tastier

during kitchen romps.

Ramen Noodles

Lips open, gliding in,

the Ramen noodle waltzes

over her moist lips.

Pomegranate Juice

My lips are deep red,

is it from pomegranate juice

or her red lipstick?

Mayonnaise

The Mayonnaise drips

on the crusty bread from his lips

What to be eaten first?

Manchurian

Manchurian gravy

sloshes over the noodles.

steam rising within me.

Innovative and unique Haiku poetry, Ravi. It was fun to read. Yes we do believe that a way to a man's or woman's for that matter is through his or her stomach. The delicacies you have mentioned are our favorite too. Have a great day. Thanks

We love entertaining our friends by having them over to dinner parties. Now that more people are becoming fully vaccinated, we will be able to do more of that. I enjoyed your short poems and illustrations about food. Time for breakfast!

I know the way to a man's heart is with food. Ditto for the woman. I cook once a week for my wife and kids...and my woman remarked that it's 100% okay. Just imagine that. Thanks for a lovely read.

My father loves to cook sometimes for my mother and us. Sometimes he makes a breaking news but we love him doing this. Thanks for sharing

Peace

Ravi Rajan (author) from Mumbai on May 14, 2021:

Yes misbah ,it is the same. The way to a husband's heart is through food and the way to a wife's heart is also food (if the husband can cook a storm once a while). Thanks for your comments.

Misbah Sheikh from The World of Poets on May 14, 2021:

A very different and beautiful piece of writing, Ravi. I enjoyed reading it. Yes, I do believe food and love are interlinked somehow. We share many same sayings in Pakistan and India. I don't know if it is said in India as well or not that "the way to a husband's heart is through his stomach". I would love to know if my Indian brothers and sisters also use this saying. I am asking it as just a matter of interest.

Blessings and Peace
