Emotional Poems on Father's Day to Honor Fatherhood

Affectionate Relationship between a child and his father

Father's Day in 2014

This is 2014 and Father's Day falls on 15th of June, the third Sunday of this month. In 2012 I posted this poetic article for the first time. Today, I only want to add a reminder that give your fathers their due. They deserve it. Let them feel that they are honoured with lots of love and care.

I feel privileged that I was not only fortunate to be blessed with an extra-ordinary father but my son is fortunate too to be blessed with an extra-ordinary father. Though my father is no more I sincerely make it a point that I teach my son, now a twelve year old, to celebrate Father's Day. It's fun watching their happiness and deep in my heart I feel the pain of missing my father. Well, that's life!

Father’s Day

I am very eager to present some poems for the Father’s Day which is due on the third Sunday of the month June. On the second Sunday of the month May the motherhood is celebrated but now in June it's time to celebrate fatherhood.

Usually, we find quite convenient to celebrate Mother’s Day. It may be because of our emotional attachment with our mothers but take out a little time and find out that are we not emotionally attached with our fathers too. We are but the expression is lacking. It is only because of the difference in the basic nature of the two people: mother and father. Mothers are usually soft and emotional while fathers are usually disciplinarian and practical. We must not forget that due to the chalk and cheese combination it becomes easier to impart every attribute to a child in a balanced form. This balance in nature helps a child to grow as a proper human being. Fathers are an integral part of the family who along with mothers help a child to grow as a good and strong individual.

Fathers are not Selfish Lot

In every era money remained important for one’s survival. If we consider the percentage then we see that fathers are the main source of income in most of the families. Well, here I am not mentioning about the pain they take to earn money because it is equivalent to the pain a mother takes while managing a household. What I want to point out is that fathers are not at all selfish lot. They love their family so they do not spend the whole amount upon themselves. They try to save for the future, whose future, definitely of the whole family. With every promotion and growth in their earning they start thinking about a better living for their family.

Fathers are always concerned about their children’s whereabouts because they know about this harsh world waiting outside their home better than the mothers. They are very practical; it is because the lesson they learnt from the outside world has made them like that. Through this experience they are able to guide their children intelligently. This helps the children to face the real world very confidently and boldly. Can we say now that our fathers are less dutiful and affectionate? Simply, the answer is no. I was blessed with a wonderful mother and equally a wonderful father so what I think about the mothers and the fathers are well registered in the hubs given below: MOTHERS- The All Time Goddess on Earth and Fathers-God on Earth.

Emotional Poems on Fatherhood

Family structure, society, moral values and what not, everything is changing day by day. Naturally, every reader will not accept my viewpoint about the mothers and the fathers because it all depends upon an individual’s experience. I do agree that exceptions are there and I definitely feel sorry for those who have/had bad experience regarding mothers and fathers. To those who experienced something bad in this relationship I humbly, request all of them to celebrate with me the Father’s Day and I am sure you all will feel blessed. I wrote an article titled Poems of Different Emotions For the Mother's Day to honor motherhood on Mother’s Day then why not for the fathers on their fatherhood that means Father’s Day. Enjoy the emotional touch of the poems:

You are Incomparable

Every child assumes:

My father is the best,

While I have a firm belief,

My dad is the supreme among the rest of the best.

Truthfully I feel:

My father is beyond comparison,

Father, your fatherly moves have set an example,

Above all you are an exemplary man,

Shrugging off responsibilities is not you,

Acting selflessly is your ultimate view,

Scroll to Continue

Never saw you oiling grudge or making complains,

Not for once you place yourself higher than the others,

The man within you,

Makes you the greatest among the greats.

Happy Father’s Day!

Fathers are doting but generally not very emotionally expressive. There love is not expressed through caress, hug, kiss, big smile or tears but it is expressed through their practical action. Fathers’ love is like that only and it is the turn of the children to understand their love. Understanding your father and in return expressing your love for him on this Father’s Day will be a true gift to him on his fatherhood. Gift your love to your father:

You are My Treasure

Now as a youth,

I have sensed some hidden truth,

A fact which is very sweet,

I have understood it a little late.

During childhood I was a little partial,

At present I am completely impartial.

Let me tell you Dad:

Though you now look a little older,

But no difference I find in you as my father,

You still teach me nothing wrong,

Guide me when I fall short of being strong,

Take care of all my important documents,

Always you value my valuables,

My commitments are your assignments,

When I must understand you,

Contrarily you do it better,

This realization is my pleasure,

Dad, you are nothing but my proud treasure.

Happy Fathers Day!

A little bit of analysis of your family life and you will find out how true the fact is that your father expresses his affection through his practical approach towards you. Admire father’s another emotional touch towards his children through this poem:

A Father is a Daughter's Strength

You are My Strength

I say, supreme is my father’s strength,

Saying it not just because I am your daughter,

Rather my experience speaks in favor,

Fact is I have upon you my total faith.

Dad, I remember the words of yours:

“Concentrate and work hard,

Stop thinking about the hurdles around,

Success will then be yours.”

Very inspirational were those words,

Still ringing in my ears,

Following them from then on,

Never ever I will cease to tread on.

Words of yours helped me,

To strengthen, control and convert,

The confidence which I lacked in me,

Into a very strong will power,

(But) something more I want to share,

I also now possess a strong inner self,

That has grown me mentally tough,

My life thus turned fabulous,

Huge thanks for imparting a lesson so marvellous.

Happy Father’s Day!

What else a father can offer his child? A marvellous teaching in return a child gets a strong and fabulous life which is the ultimate gift for any child. The children who start understanding the sincerity of their fathers actually become able to understand their fathers quite deeply. Next poem is an example of such a deep understanding:

You are Great

Once I saw you, father,

Sitting on your couch quietly,

You looked very disturbed,

Eyes of yours were full of tears,

I felt pain in my heart,

Rushed towards you in fear,

Enquired anxiously about your anxiety,

Spontaneously you smiled back at me,

Instantly became exulted,

Hurriedly expressed huge excitement,

Immediately you overcame your sadness,

I who saw grief in your eyes,

That perturbed me so badly,

Felt confused and amused,

But around me I noticed only happiness,

Later my worries went in vain.

The then I realized you share,

Only the joy of yours,

But your agonies never ever,

Oh! God, amazing experience it was,

Truly great you are! My dad.

Happy Father’s Day!

Lack of Comfort Level

Fathers are not unaware of the fact that the children are usually very fond of their mothers and they also know the reason behind it. It is mainly because children enjoy a great comfort level with their mothers but there is some hesitation in the relationship between children and their fathers. Hesitation is not because of the lack of love between a father and his child but it is because a father creates a tough shell of discipline around himself which becomes difficult for both of them a child and his father to break it and have a simple comfort level. This is the reason that sometimes fathers make an opinion that they are loved less than the mothers by their children. A poem for such fathers:

Countless Love for You

You think I love you less,

Even you say sometimes:

From you I keep a distance,

Yes, I do but listen to my reasons once,

Your sweet smile makes me feel very happy,

Sadly, I get to see it very rarely,

I am not scared of you but feel a little awkward,

Only it’s because you look always so reserved.

This is why I stay a little away,

But I miss you when you are far away.

The day you come back home early,

Means like having a blast with family.

I feel excited when I talk a lot to you,

Never ever wish to conceal even a few.

Simply having you beside me,

I experience something extra-ordinary.

Hope you now understand,

My love for you I can’t measure,

It in fact gives me immense pleasure.

Feel the love I've for you, dear Dad,

It’s in no way less but at par,

With the love I've for my mother dear.

Happy Father’s Day!

The modern day fathers are very cool in their approach. They are not bothered about setting up rules and regulations for their children. Life for them is to enjoy and not to create panic about anything at all. Well, this does not mean they lack discipline, honesty, sincerity, love, care and all the other goodness. The modern day fathers believe in creating a friendly atmosphere in handling the relationship with their children. They are actually fond of fun and frolic, through it they always prefer to guide a child towards a right direction. The modern day fathers are easily reachable because they do not have any strict image. They are flexible according to the modern age and have a sweet and loveable style. It does not mean that they fail as a good father rather modern day children are very happy to have a cool father who imparts moral values in a coolest manner. For such fathers I have a poem to offer:

My Cool Dad

You are a cool dad,

Nothing turns you sad,

You know how to be crazy and mad,

Just to add some zing in the life’s sand.

I as your child,

Love you and would like to add,

Your teachings of the facts those are hard,

In a manner so relaxed,

Helps me to accept it at every ground,

This makes me feel happy and proud.

Happy Father’s Day!

Let all the fathers be happy on their fatherhood this Father’s Day. Honour them unconditionally because their love and care is unconditional and feel blessed. Fatherhood is a great responsibility so pay them their due tribute because they definitely deserve it.

Thanks to Fathers on Father's Day

Hello DDE,

Yes, you are right that every child needs both parents. I had been very fortunate in that regard. Life becomes extra special when both the parents are around. The poems in this article are all what I experienced. Thanks for reading

Fathers try to play their part as best as they can and in most cases are very much to themselves, every child needs both parents.

Not all kids have this kind of father by their side, but for those who do they are the fortunate ones.

Thank you for such a touching hub.

Hello sen.sush23,

It is great to receive your comment. Thanks a lot for praising the hub and for sharing it too.

I respect your personal angle. If you ask me about my relationship with my father then my answer is : very sweet, simple and loving relationship. I was equally close to both my parents and I never hesitated in opening up with them. The poems I wrote was on the basis of various relationship I observed between a father and his child but

Sushmita from Kolkata, India on June 06, 2012:

Nice little poems that could give some idea and inspire teenagers to express themselves to their dad. Voted up. But I have to disagree on one point, as a girl child it is much easier for me to feel and express my love and admiration for my dad, but maybe sometimes, I take Mom for granted. Of course, that is a personal angle, and I guess the boys here must look to it that they do not do the same when it comes to dad. :) Thanks Shampa and Sharing.
