Dora Isaac Weithers: Older and Wiser. Happy Soul’s Day to You. Sunday’s Inspiration 32

Manatita is an esteemed author living in London, UK. He writes spiritual books, flash fiction and esoteric poetry, his favourite genre.

A Gratitude Song

I felt the seeds of Your compassion, touching

Me within like fragrant lavenders. Like the

Earth, I absorbed them, as they nourished my

Heart’s Lotus petals, thus blossoming into new life.

Sweet, sweeter, sweetest is this devotion,

Growing in Your garden of incandescence. My

Heart emerged, only to marvel at the beauty

Of the moon, calling out Thy name.

Ah! What is my tiny offering to You?

Overburdened with duty, Your maternal

Instincts give diligently; Your psychic tears,

A peerless raiment for the glory of Love.

The sun, in all its splendour, blazes a trail across the

Firmament, cascading endless energy to Mother Gaia,

Which, in opulence and sacrifice, vigorously renews life.

Where then is the significance of my worth?

I feel the kernels of Your quintessence, dancing within

Me like sweet thrills. Nourishing my gratitude,

I place them all at Your affection-flooded Heart.

- Manatita, The Lantern Carrier.

Easter Haiku

A new dawn awakes

The light bathes seeking souls

Mercy from above

Cross! Where are thy thorns?

The Lord of death is conquered

Candles glow in Spring

My old garb is gone

Christ’s raiment’s flood my soul

Woes now roses-white

This sweet atonement

My Heart ‘wakens to the Light

A dawn unfurling.

“Father, forgive them.”

I felt this loving prayer

Love came with the dawn

Purple Hyacinths for Hope. Happy Easter Also to ALL my Friends!!

Quotes from the gospel

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13: 34, 35. (NIV)

"He that endureth to the end, shall be saved." Matthew, 24:13

"Not my Will, but thine be done." -The Christ

How Some Christians Look at Easter

Many of the Christian devout, give greater significance to Easter than they do Christmas. Not that Christmas is not special to them, for it is! They love the family time, the camaraderie of re-union with children and grandchildren, the food, sharing and gifts. Not to mention Santa Claus, Christmas lights, Reindeers and Sleigh…

Of course, there are carols, mass and special services, but the emphasis is on fun, gaiety and jubilation, etc. Not so with Easter, as it’s more about sacrifice and atonement. One festivity is joyful and the other about blessings… receiving the Mercy of God; of praise and jubilation; of the absolution in prayer that Christ died for us as sinners … of redemption through Christ.

On Dora Isaac Weithers

I rather suspect that Dora Isaac Weithers, is of the later … of a more righteous stance and obedience to the Father in heaven, in and through the Son. A sense of gratitude that He has died for her and a willingness or eagerness to walk in the ways of Christ; of being a benchmark for Jesus, as Paul says, more so at Easter, than at any other time of the year ...each moment being precious, of course.

Dora Isaac Weithers is both outwardly and inwardly beautiful. A just, upright, charming and graceful Spirit, she is full of the holiness of the scriptures and a longing to discipleship, as so many are called to do. She is a very self-giving and generous soul and one which Linda Lum has described as:

“The personification of kindness; with words always full of love and encouragement.” – Linda Lum.

Billy Holland, our favourite author, has said a similar thing, even while offering his thanks for her friendship and serenity of actions, especially when she writes: -

“Love and peace personified, that is our Dora, a walking, talking symbol of humanness, and I am proud to call you my friend.

Thank you for our friendship. Thank you for renewing my faith in mankind through your calm actions and embracing words.” – Bill Holland

My Muslim Sister, Misbah, has noted, rightfully, that Dora’s birthday will fall on Easter Sunday for the third time! What heavenly blessings! Dora feels this episode will be one of the highlights of her bonus (after seventy) years, and the tagline “Older and Stronger” appears to be a very meaningful theme, and the mantra for her more graceful years.

It would appear that Dora's Grandmother is her main inspiration, as she learned a lot from her, a woman who nurtured Dora’s strength and wisdom. Dora told us all, a wonderful story about her grandmother, of how her eyesight had been deteriorating. However, instead of grieving about what she had lost, she chose to influence others with what she still had—the strength of mind to recall song lyrics and scriptures; the strength of spirit to worship with confidence.

Despite her poor vision, her granny showed the strength of character to remain true to her purpose rather than waste time proving that she could read. Seeing this virtue and character, helped to shape and mold Dora’s character and decorum. Speaking about virtues, Dora says: -

" In tougher times, we asked, believed, and expected, but there were obstacles between us and the answer. We learned patience, humility, and selflessness before the answer came. Meanwhile, our faith had struggled, expanded, and strengthened." Much of this input has come from Dora’s last Hub and succinctly put together by Misbah, who sees Dora as being worthy of great admiration and respect.- Lantern Carrier

The Christ

The Christ was God made flesh and dwelt among us. He was and is a Divine Incarnation, the direct descent of God in human form. Considering His ministry was so short (Some three years), he has had more influence on the world than most Divine God-men, with perhaps Lord Buddha and Sri Krishna being exceptions.

There are thousands of churches, Abbeys, Monasteries, Convents and cathedrals elucidating his teachings, and many Saints have fallen gladly, facing death for the love of Jesus, the Christ. His ministry was a short but towering and phenomenal one, and his emphasis on forgiveness, Mercy, Compassion and Love, is still very much the pillars of Christianity today.

Like all Avatars (Divine Manifestations) the Christ sometimes spoke like God and sometimes He spoke like God’s son. The central messages of the Bible – as I perceive them are: -

1. He came to manifest and glorify the Father in Heaven –to do God’s Will

2. He spoke constantly of a Kingdom – within our Hearts - and gave commandments as to how to get there, the greatest instruction, being about Love. Be like good shepherds, he said and told many parables as very effective ways of teaching spirituality … of forgiveness, benevolence …mercy.

3. The Beatitudes or Sermon on the Mount, is a very sublime or lofty poetical work on how blessed it is to be peaceful, merciful … to forgive; to mourn and perhaps the lillie of His virtues -- to have a pure Heart in order to enter this Kingdom, those many Mansions of which He spoke.

4. Christ’s resurrection was a triumph over evil … light over darkness and the descent of a Higher Light to mankind. It was also to show the immortality of the soul and the promise of a new life (Salvation), in Paradise. The spirit of atonement, of redemption and reparation, was central to his mission and cemented with his rising from the dead. All hail the Christ, his saintly earthly father and His mother of immaculate purity. Jai Jesus Christ! Mere Prabhu! Jai Lord!

"I am with you always, even unto the end of Time." - The Christ

Wisdom from Sri Chinmoy

"How sweet is the breath of the flower

How illumining is the sacrifice of its fragrance." - Sri Chinmoy

"Jesus was great

Greater was His Mercy

Greatest was His sacrifice." - Sri Chinmoy

Nithya Venkat from Dubai on April 04, 2021:

A beautiful tribute to Dora . I enjoyed reading your poem and lovely haiku pieces so beautifully crafted.

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on April 04, 2021:

You are right. No one should fear death.

I think in my case, it's not so much the fear as it is leaving behind all your loved ones.

Of course, I do have my moments when I fear I am not the best disciple.

Stuff happens...I imagine I'm not the only one.

But the hope of this glorious day...does help.

manatita44 (author) from london on April 04, 2021:

Thank you, Pamela.

A most wonderful sentiment from you. I most certainly appreciate this. Dora will read your comment. Happy Easter to you. Much Love.

Pamela Oglesby from Sunny Florida on April 04, 2021:

This is another beautiful article, Manatita. I loved the poetry Jesus has risen! I love the tribute to Dora, one of the sweetest women on Hubpages that I have known for many years.

I enjoyed reading, as always., Manatita. Your words are always so beautiful Blessings!

manatita44 (author) from london on April 04, 2021:

Sure. I said a few things to comfort her on her death bed. She could not respond but gave me an elbow of positivity. Her Memorial service was so beautiful!!

The Disciple do not fear death. We have Faith in the afterlife and the life of the Disciple is generally as pure as can be. Humans fear the afterlife, not only because of the unknown, but because of the known. They know what's in their Hearts and many don't feel ready. Insecurity and guilt are big ones. Anyway, today is special and so I shouldn't make you worry. Just saying that the confidence of a Disciple in the afterlife is extremely high.

I forgot to thank you the first time. My gratitude for your support and concerns for my sister. Like my mother, they had both got to the point where Paradise would have been welcomed. Much Love.

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on April 04, 2021:

I do remember you telling me of her cancer & how positive she lived each day of her life.

She was so very young to endure this suffering.

I am glad her transition was easy. May she feel mo more pain in paradise.

May your heart's sadness be comforted.

You will be with her again one day.

manatita44 (author) from london on April 04, 2021:

Well. She has stage 4 for 7 years and suffered another 13 years. She was remarkable! Now she's in Paradise and she transitioned nicely on her birthday, March 4th. She was 56. A blessing, I say.

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on April 04, 2021:

So sorry to learn about your sister.

I had hoped she was doing well.

Sending you my hugs.

manatita44 (author) from london on April 04, 2021:

Long time ago! My condolences. My sister went to heaven on March 4th. She was 56. Sorry about your loss. Your love for Dora is appreciated!

Linda Lum from Washington State, USA on April 04, 2021:

Thank you for creating this for Dora. She is most deserving and such a beautiful person inside and out. On this day, 28 years ago, my oldest sister went to her Heavenly home.

manatita44 (author) from london on April 04, 2021:

Thank you, thank you, Brenda.

A very thorough and loving contribution. I'm glad you have benefitted from learning about the spiritual message of the Resurrection. I'm in a poetry seminar right now and one guy was talking about Paganism and witchcraft etc. They have their uses, but it is not the Path of the devout Christians, some of them Saints or deeply religious.

Thank you for your sentiments to MS Dora. Happy Easter!!

BRENDA ARLEDGE from Washington Court House on April 04, 2021:

This is a lovely & inspirational write for Easter.

I can see why Easter is celebrated a bit more.

It seems more sacred.

He is risen.

We have everlasting life if we choose.

He forgave us.

I did read earlier this week that our Ms Dora was having a Birthday today.

What a special day for her Birthday to be on Easter Sunday.

"Happy Birthday Ms.Dora!"

You writing about Ms Dora is excellent. She is definitely a Christian lady with a little spunk in her soul.

I just love her work & her comments.

She knows how to make others smile.

Great writing today.

manatita44 (author) from london on April 04, 2021:

Interesting, isn' it? As she is an Adventist. Ha-ha. More spiritual challenges to wake us all up!

Thanks a lot, Peggy.

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on April 04, 2021:

Happy birthday, Dora, and Happy Easter! I know which of these days is very special to you because of your writings, but it is wondrous to celebrate both of them today! I am sending many blessings your way!

manatita44 (author) from london on April 04, 2021:

No worries, my Didi ji. All's good. Could be my mistake or forgetfulness. Sorry. Much Love.

Chitrangada Sharan from New Delhi, India on April 04, 2021:

I am sorry about that Manatita. If you are referring to some email, which you may have sent to me, I must have missed it. In fact, we were busy in Holi celebrations with family. However, I did receive your Easter greetings today morning, and I also responded to the same.

Always wish peace and happiness for you. Thank you and Happy Easter once again.

manatita44 (author) from london on April 04, 2021:

Thank you!

Thank you, my Didi ji.

I wanted a mature/wise Indian voice in the Hub. I thought of you and Venkatacharyi M Ji. I'm not sure who I settled for. But I got no response. Just an overlook, I sure. You both are loving souls. Just saying that I would have put in the sentiment also, like I did with the others. Minor detail. Love you guys and Happy Easter!! (Yes, I know that Holi is gone) Sublime!

Chitrangada Sharan from New Delhi, India on April 04, 2021:

Beautiful haikus on the auspicious occasion of Easter. Your explanation about the significance of celebrating Easter is beautifully done. I loved reading it.

A wonderful tribute to Dora on her birthday, a peaceful, composed person, who always spreads positive thoughts.

Happy Birthday Dora. Wish you a wonderful day and a great year ahead.

Happy Easter to everyone who celebrates.

Appreciations and Thank you Manatita for sharing this beautiful piece of writing.

manatita44 (author) from london on April 04, 2021:

Reads like you are thriced blessed, Ann

Dora has a 'double wammy' but you have a 'treble'. Congratulations!!

Glad you love Easter and yes, it has always had more significance to us Christians. I can see all the caribbean ladies in their pretty dress/frocks, fancy hats and bibles in hands plus a smile on their faces.

Easter hymms are awesome! I used to sing in church. While on Seminar in Kenya two years ago, I sang a lot for the YMCA staff. Some used to join me, as I knew a few which they didn't. We had fun together. Happy Birthday to your granddaughter tomorrow. She's blessed too. More Peace to all ... the Peace of Christ.

manatita44 (author) from london on April 04, 2021:

Respect, my Brother.

You show an excellent sense and understanding of the Haiku form to enhance meaning to life. Gratitude

Ann Carr from SW England on April 04, 2021:

This is a lovely tribute to Dora, a most deserving person. She is always calm, wise and positive; her smiling profile photo says it all.

I love Easter and I love birthdays. One of my granddaughters is 6 tomorrow, so her birthday is sometimes on Easter Sunday - in fact she was born on that day! My younger daughter's birthday also coincides sometimes with Easter Sunday.

When I went to Church with my father, I used to love the Easter hymns - always somehow more uplifting than the Christmas ones.

Happy Easter to you and yours!

Ravi Rajan from Mumbai on April 04, 2021:

Beautiful Haikus on Easter.

Wonderful tributes to Ms. Dora. Best wishes for a very Happy Birthday to her !! Very inspiring facts about her. I have not been able to go through of her works still. This article surely arouses a wish to read her works.

Great poetic celebrations of Easter and Ms. Dora’s Birthday.

I too celebrated my Birthday two weeks back on Sunday - 21st March - some of my friends made it poetic as well .... In one of my group of friends, we used to love gifting each other with poems on Birthdays right from school days. I still have some such old letters as cherished memories .... I am sure Ms. Dora will love these beautiful Birthday memories.

Happy Easter to All !!!

Thank You, my Didi ji.

Appreciations. Of course Easter, for us, is a very spiritual event (Explained in the text), so as you look forward to Ramadhan next week, let us celebrate Allah just as much, in our Hearts and minds, for we are one.

Thank you for looking at the videos and for mentioning Guru ji. Taqabbalallâhu minnâ wa minkum. Allahu Akbar!!

Misbah Sheikh from The World of Rebels. on April 04, 2021:

Manatita, I just checked your video, too. It did not appear before. Lovely songs, I like them!! Thanks for sharing

Thank you, Devika, for being the first here. Much gratitude.

Misbah Sheikh from The World of Rebels. on April 04, 2021:

Manatita, this is a beautiful gift for Dora Isaac, I am very sure she will love it. Happy Birthday Dora, Many Many Happy Returns Of The Day.

Your birthday made me remember a quote by Henri Frederic Amiel: "To know how to grow old is the master-work of wisdom, and one of the most difficult chapters in the great art of living."

I am very happy for you that you are growing wiser with every passing year of your life. Truly, that's the great art of living. Your Grandma's story really inspired me.

May the light of God’s love always shine down on you from above. May His sweet angels guide you always, and stand guard with you. Each day that you live on this earth. Stay happy and Blessed!!

Manatita: Thanks for quoting my name. You have really paid a lovely tribute to our beautiful and loving friend Dora. I like the song by Sri Chinmoy. Beautiful!!!

Happy Easter and Blessings to both Of You.
