Desire That Burns You- Dedicated to Two Fellow Authors-a Poem on John Hansen Challenge

Misbah has always wanted to pursue writing as a career. She loves to do poetry in her free time. She loves to write on different topics...

The Back Stage Story

Yesterday John Hansen told us about his challenge on sentence prompt. He said he would like to see work on sentence prompt from his fellow authors. He is kind that he left us free to choose the sentence by ourselves. Today, while reading some decent quotes, I found an interesting one, and I chose to write a poem about it.

Before moving on, I want to tell you that for me, it’s not only a prompt challenge, but a dedication to two of my fellow authors who always have been so kind, on and off-screen

Manatita and John Hansen, an Inspiration

The Sentence Prompt

To burn with desire and keep quiet about it is the greatest punishment we can bring on ourselves

— Blood weddings and Yerma by Federico Garcia Lorca

To us, things are sweet when they're lost

Burn the candle of desires, but never let it blow,

With words and deeds of kindness, win the heart of the beloved

Desires are to keep alive, not to die

And see Manatita, The Lantern Carrier as he moves the path glows,

Keep the heart open so the light can enter

Quiet or be aloud to the world so they can know,

About speaking the light of spirituality that grows within you

The Lantern Carrier

The Lantern Carrier

It is the tragedy of life to earn and to lose

Is it not enough that you are living to prove?

The world is little; enjoy the journey as you pass

Greatest is only God, and remember, HE loves you

Punishment and rewards both are gifts of God

We are living better than many others: he has blessed

Can we feel peace and comfort denying reality?

Bring those chairs on John's porch, enjoy the life

On this platform, I enjoyed and felt alive

Ourselves, now let see, From the Porch while the sunset glows

Wonderful poem Misbah. I love the imagery that you were able to weave keeping within the limits of the sentence.THanks for sharing.

Misbah (author) from The Planet Earth on March 10, 2021:

Manatita, I am glad you liked it, I really wanted to write something different, maybe, I made a hurry but I think, I desperately wanted to mention and praise both of you.

There are many things that makes me feel you are a gem, when you say " I, am a mere instrument of Allah."

Maybe you can name it a spiritual bounding

And about John I like his kind nature and of course his porch makes me think, why we neglect so many beautiful things in our life just because they are out of trends or are small.. his porch makes me remind of mine, I used to play a lot in my porch when I was a kid

Blessings to both of you and I know your spiritual nature and words of kindness can attract anybody anywhere in the world
