Delicious Newspaper, You Can Eat This! (April's Fool Joke)

Author:

I love reading newspaper. This is a media that gives us much information. From newspaper I got many inspirations. By drinking a cup of tea, a newspaper always accompany my morning and read entire news from regional, national up to international. As a teacher I also suggested my student to update information from newspaper, magazine both offline or online. Reading is fun and enjoyable activity. No matter with kind of media. Newspaper is one of my favorite. Reading is a positive attitude. When this activity become a habit, than the reading activities also continue to be done without being forced. Maybe some of us feel reluctant to open a sheet by sheet books, magazine or newspaper. For some reason, we seem don't have any spirit in reading. Should we read books? I thought we don’t need any limitation for this activity. A lot of reading material that can be read, for example newspaper. Reading the newspaper is also important for us because we can keep follow of current developments, both domestically and from abroad.

Reading books, newspapers, magazines or from other media, will train our brain to concentrate. Our brains are invited to give attention from word to word in the text. Because if we lose a few words, we may not be able to capture the overall intent of the existing sentence. Interesting sentences on the text give an effect to stimulating our brain to work and observe something. There are studies showing that reading books can prevent us from senile diseases. Maybe we are always invited to think when we read, so that our brains can remain active. With the frequent reading, one can develop flexibility and fluency in spoken word. By reading we can learn from other experience, this is good to give us motivation and new spirit. By reading is good to explore different disciplines and application in life.

Personally, a newspaper makes my morning so beautiful.  What is the newspaper raw material? I thought this is a silly question, most of us know that newspaper made by 100% recycled paper. That’s why I always collect my old newspaper, in the couple of next month I’ll sell these newspapers. For important things, I have series of clipping that contains useful information from the newspaper. So, old newspaper still gave us some benefits, right. Beside it can make beautiful handicrafts. From this hub, I’ll inform weird newspaper. But it’s totally unique and delicious. Why I said so, because we can eat this newspaper. Curious? please continue to read....

Delicious newspaper. Check it out!

If commonly we throw the newspaper in garbage can after we read this or we sell this to get some money. But you don’t have to do both of these things. After you read this newspaper, you can eat this. What… this is totally insane? There are many delicious foods out there. I thought we don’t have to eat this. Don’t think negatively first. This newspaper is totally safe for our body. You don’t need to worry about this. Perhaps the making of this newspaper is inspired Willy Wonka, a character in the movie Chocolate Factory, which makes everything around us can be eaten. There's very talented person who create the shape of the Metro newspaper that can be eaten. “Good cooperation between culinary expert and newspaper‘s company,” said Metro.co.uk. This newspaper doesn’t need to be discarded after finished reading. But you can eat with entire contents inside this newspaper.

Who is the man behind this newspaper?

Heston Blumenthal, the culinary scientist, had a major role in realizing this unique idea. "This newspaper is my obsession," he said. He was born May 27, 1966 in London. He is the owner of The Fat Duck, a three-Michelin-starred restaurant in Bray, Berkshire. His restaurant had voted as The Best Restaurant in the UK by The Good Food Guide 2007 and 2009. These restaurants also voted best restaurant in the world by Restaurant magazine in 2005 and other achievement awards for his successful career in restaurant management. He also knew as the culinary scientist for his scientific approach. He has innovative style in cooking. Blumenthal had published four books, such as: Family Food: A new approach to cooking, Heston Blumenthal: In Search of Perfection, Heston Blumenthal: Further Adventures In Search of Perfection, The Big Fat Duck Cook Book. (This information was taken by Wikipedia.org)

How about the taste? The volunteers as a witness how this newspaper so delicious. They are tearing the paper with their teeth and swallow this newspaper. We can see this from the pictures. They nodded their head as the sign that this newspaper so delicious. Heston Blumenthal doesn’t need editing to make this newspaper like other newspaper.

How did he make this? The dough itself is made up of Gum Arabic, cornstarch, vegetable oil, water and citric acid which was cooked until it’s like clay pasta and formed into sheets. What next?

Then the pasta was sprinkled into a thin sheet through silk screen and arranged this into titles, photos and articles. This was reminded us about cake decorations, right. Although the process of making and printing of this newspaper took several hours, and it takes a little longer to dry this but the final touch this newspaper was given vanilla aroma. Wow… how smell is good and delicious of course.

There’s a positive comment from Charles Bouquet from Edible Paper Company. He said that this project pushed the society for recycled habit. Hopefully this newspaper provide additional flavor and serves with recent issues with colorful appearance.

I am so sorry, I have to update this hub and the title also. I just want to say that "this is not edible newspaper". I get an email from my anonymous reader, he said that I have to check at metro.uk for valid information. From this site it said:

"Please note: For those of you thinking this all sounds highly unlikely - you were right to be suspicious... it was an April Fools' joke inspired by the 40th anniversary DVD re-release of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Sorry!"

Deep in my heart, I am so sorry to share this joke to all of you. I don’t have intent to lie to you. This was real information from the famous site. I just make it more beautiful and informative.

Prasetio is just human and as a man I have a lot of mistake. But I hope this news is always interesting to be read. Over and over again as a science fiction. But the benefit from reading activity was true and I have proof this to my self.

The land of creativity :

  • Spray T-Shirt , A New Way To Make A T-Shirt Quickly

Actually, we can create a new t-shirt quickly. Dr. Manel Torres is a designer from Spanish as the inventor of this method. He uses a sprayer to make a new t-shirt. A bottle of paint that you spray on your body suddenly turned into a piece of clothing that fits for your body, unbelievable.
  • Human Dreams to Fly

Thousands or maybe hundreds years ago this was become humans dream. They want to go to the other place without spending a lot of time. When they saw a bird, there’s a wish in their mind. “I wish I can fly like a bird someday." From this hub I want to share the success people who created a flying machine so “fly is not a dream anymore”.
  • Miniature Postal Service, The World's Smallest Letter

There’s a business idea come from a woman namely Lea Redmond. She was founder of “World’s Smallest Postal Service”. This is a unique service which offered by the little post office in San Francisco.
  • The Art From Cardboard By Chris Gilmour

You can see many creation of Chris. Start from typewriter, bicycle, wheelchair, guitar, violin, Fiat 500 until Aston Martin DB8. For the car we can see the detail of machine. For the bicycle we can see the detail of wheels, chains, tires, brakes. All of these things made from cardboard.
  • From Cans Become Valuable Things

How to make cans become valuable things? We can learn from Sandy Sanderson. He is very creative man to make a beautiful things from cans.

Truckstop Sally on April 16, 2011:

I too love to read the paper -- although they sometimes stack up for a week before I can go thru them all. Instead of the timleless slogan (I think from the NY Times) -- All the news that's fit to print, they'll need to change it to -- All the news that's fit to eat. Ha!
