"Deflate-Gate" Deflated Balls or Deflated Ego?

Tom Brady's deflated balls

The Colts said this ball does not feel like it is inflated!

The Colts said this ball does not feel like it is inflated!

“Deflate Gate” Deflated Balls or Deflated Ego?

The Patriots won the game

The Colts were looking

For someone or something to blame

As they hung their heads in shame

Tom Brady let the air out of his balls

That is what the Colts and their fans all called

Troy Aikman says the quarterback would have known

If the air from his balls was gone

Did anyone ever check if Aikman's balls had the air let out?

The Patriots do not get the benefit of a doubt

When the Colts all calls,

Tom Brady let the air out of his balls

"Deflation Gate"

Their quarterback let the air right out

If their balls are kicked, thrown and pounced upon

Can you assure me none of the air is gone?

Do the Colts want the refs to make another “unfair” call

And declare the Colts the winners by default?

Tom Brady said: “I have no explanation for the deflation”

“I don’t believe anybody deflated the ball”

“I believe we won the game fair and square”

But the media, like Rachel Nichols said "It isn't fair"

And she with the rest of the media with pins in hand

Aimed like darts to skew the man

If a bit of air escapes

With each test of the PSI

How many tests must the colts take

To reach the point of

“Deflation Gate”

The only thing Tom Brady deflates

Is the ego of the Colts

In this game Called

"Deflation Gate"

Limerick for Tom Brady

There was a quarterback named Brady

Whose footballs had been deflated

In spite of getting the blame

His team won the game

Guess who had their egos deflated?

Football season has started up again -- on the 13th. Hope those who love it will enjoy it. I couldn't care less about it, but people could do worse things than watch, and it does create a lot of jobs.

Posting this to A/H.

To cool off a little for the next 3-4 days, at night anyway. Down in the 50s. Don't remember the last time we had such low temps.

Blessings, dear friend. To you and yours. Hope all is well with y'all and stays that way . . .

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on September 07, 2021:

Thank you for your well wishes and your comments.

Blessings you are a dear friend.

C E Clark from North Texas on August 14, 2021:

Something light hearted is what is needed right now, like this poem. So much crap in the news anymore. Covid got much worse again like I figured it would and it's probably the worst it's ever been because some people insist on eating animal dewormers instead of getting the Covid vaccine or wearing a mask, or ideally both.

Posting this on A/H again.

Blessings, dear friend . . .

C E Clark from North Texas on July 05, 2021:

The situation created by Covid-19 did indeed improve considerably after Biden took over. Of course it could get bad again because so may people only believe Trump about the disease. I swear they would insist on checking with Trump first before they would believe a word from Jesus' mouth. Many of them have said on video that they believe Trump is the second coming of Christ. What an insult to Jesus!

Enough about Trump. I like to read this poem because it takes my mind off crazy things like Trump and all the havoc he raises. Something to lighten the mood and bring laughter.

Posting this to AH again.

Hope you are doing well with any and all of your endeavors. Blessings, dear friend . . .

Such a great poem to lighten the situation we have all over most of the country right now. Just an election didn't resolve all the problems. Mainly it just changed them, but hopefully only 2 more months or so . . .

This poem is exactly what is needed sometimes just to relax and have a good laugh for a change. Posting this to AH & FB.

It's getting harder and harder to find articles that allow comments. I've never heard why management is doing this, making it impossible to write comments, etc. Maybe I missed it?

Hope you will have a great Thanksgiving even though gatherings are discouraged. Hopefully next year, a long way away, I know, will be better if we all cooperate in trying to banish this horrid virus.

Blessings, dear friend. Stay safe . . .

Time to review this again. Who doesn't need a good laugh right now with everything so intense, and no light at the end of the tunnel? Love this poem and am posting it on AH & FB again.

Hope you are continuing to take every precaution to stay healthy and safe even though it seems like it will never end. Blessings, dear friend . . .

C E Clark from North Texas on February 04, 2020:

Always enjoy this poem. Always makes me laugh and there aren't as many things to laugh about these last 3 years or so. Posting this to FB & AH again.

Take care. Blessings dear friend . . .

Came back to read this fun and funny poem. Football season will start next month and I can't wait. Well, technically the first game is Sept. 5th I think, but I expect they'll all be practicing getting ready next month (Aug).

The reason I can't wait is that football usually signals autumn and cooler temperatures. Being in the midst of 100 degree temps, I'm really looking forward to fall and winter when the temps are tolerable.

This is a great poem and it expresses well what was going on at the time you wrote it. Posting it to AH and FB. Blessings and hugs dear friend. I hope life is being kind to you . . .

C E Clark from North Texas on October 17, 2018:

Had to come back here. It's not easy to find something that is funny these days. There is plenty that is funny in a sad way, but not much that is a clean sort of funny, if you get what I mean.

Hope you are managing to stay warm and dry in this weather we've been having. It's supposed to change Saturday and at least dry out a little. Blessings dear friend. Take care . . .

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on September 03, 2018:

Dear Paula, thank you for the compliment and comments, so happy I made you laugh, this is just what I envisioned after Ruby's take off on Genna's challenge. I really had fun with this.

Flourish, thank you for the comment and compliment, I will write more on this subject as time permits, but with my husband, puppy and the yard work it is hard to find the time for all those things and my writing, but I will keep trying.

Blessings my friend.

Suzie from Carson City on March 15, 2017:

Laughing my butt off, Shyron. Not only are you funny....your timing is perfect. Comedic relief is much needed at this time! You have talent!

FlourishAnyway from USA on March 15, 2017:

I giggled throughout this. You should write more limericks! You're very clever. Perhaps about Trump and his antics. Goodness knows there is enough material there!

No things are still in chaos, and I am so discouraged by HP sliding hubber score one day I was a 65 later that day it dropped to 62. and every time I publish a hub it goes down. Very disheartening.

Hope you are well

Blessings and Hugs

C E Clark from North Texas on September 24, 2015:

Very funny poem and now football season is here. Thought I would revisit this poem and have a laugh. Sharing of course . . .

Hope all is well there and glad you're enjoying the slightly cooler temps. Take care . .

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on August 04, 2015:

Au fait, thank you for the comment, up votes and share. When football starts it means the cooler weather will also be here.

Did you here that Tom Brady is suspended.

We are booked for the week with appointments, keeping us busy, keeping us on track. Surprise today our neighbor Rod, came over to check on us because he did not see us our side.

Blessings and Hugs dear friend

Won't be long and it will be football season again. They were talking on the radio this morning about how high schoolers are out in this awful heat getting practiced up. School starts soon, and along with it, football.

A very funny poem. Voted it up and funny again. Also sharing.

100 degrees today. :( Going to seem cool pretty soon as the temp is to exceed 100 before the end of the week. Hope you are staying cool and that all is well there. Blessing to you and John. Take care . . .

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on May 20, 2015:

I hope it does not go down to 58. I went to the council meeting and it was cool. Three honest (I believe) guys were sworn in.

Blessings and hugs to you and we hope you are comfortable.

Coming by to give this another share. Voted it up and funny, too.

Wondering if it's really going to get down to 58 degrees F., tonight . . . :)

Hope all is well there and you're both having a great day. Glad everything is working again. Blessings for you both . . .

Susie Lehto from Minnesota on April 03, 2015:

I do not believe I have read a football poem in my life, not until now, Shyron. So! To me, this is totally unique.

(up-votes are not working right now, I did report it)

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on March 16, 2015:

Thank you Larry, glad you enjoyed it.

Larry Rankin from Oklahoma on March 15, 2015:

I enjoyed this immensely. Wonderful read.

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on February 15, 2015:

Jim, thank you for the visit. and the comments, glad to see you here.

Have a Blessed evening.

Jim from Kansas on February 15, 2015:

The amount of air in the balls in that game, made little if any difference. Now if the game was one by 6 points or less, we might have an issue, but still probably not.

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on February 04, 2015:

Jo (tobusiness), thank you dear friend for the comment, up votes and for sharing. I don't know what it is about men and their balls. Me I like hard one that I can roll down an alley and men like to hit them bats and rackets or kick them into nets or them as far as possible.

Blessings and Hugs to you dear friend.

Jo Alexis-Hagues from Lincolnshire, U.K on February 02, 2015:

I know less than nothing about American football, but the poem was hilariously funny. What is it about men and their balls? Up and sharing.

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on February 01, 2015:

Hi Sis/Jo, I am so happy that you enjoyed a good laugh, I did enjoy writing it. thank you for this wonderful comment and sharing. I am a Cowboy fan (of course) but because of you I will also root for the Eagles, may they fly high next year.

Blessings and Hugs

Love Shyron

Jo_Goldsmith11 on January 31, 2015:

Hello Sis!

This is just priceless! I needed air for my lungs! as I was laughing so hard on to the point this is. What a mess? I think so much to do about a whole lot of nothing! I am a Philly Eagles fan! And I know that even the Eagles could of beaten the Colts! Great read. Shared & up she goes. :-)

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on January 29, 2015:

Jodah, thank you for your most appreciated comments.

I am glad you will get to watch the game. I like both the Seahawks and Patriots. The only team I don't like is the referees, (pun intended).

In the game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers was decided by the referee's bad call, (not fait) though I like both teams and live in Texas (Cowboys). I hope you enjoy the game.

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on January 29, 2015:

Brownella, thank you for stopping by and for the comment. I don't think an overinflated or underinflated ball would have tip the scale one way or the other in this particular game, the Patriots are that good and don't need to try and cheat to win and that on the Patriots and the Colts best day the outcome would have been the same.

John Hansen from Gondwana Land on January 27, 2015:

Well I just see it announced that the Suoerbowl final is being played live on free TV here in Australia for the first time. I think I may have to watch it and barrack for the Seahawks as most of my friends here at HP seem to follow them.

brownella from New England on January 27, 2015:

I'm not a big football fan but my father is a hard core patriots man so I've been hearing a lot of ranting about this so its nice to see someone look at it with some levity. All in all I agree...it's a game. And hopefully there is enough skill involved that something as small as a tackier ball doesn't tip the scales too far (if at all).

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on January 27, 2015:

Patty, thank you for the comment and for your visit. If they will not show the video, it makes me wonder if they found a scapegoat when they could not find any other explanation.

Blessings and hugs dear Patty

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on January 27, 2015:

Thank you Flourish, for the visit and the comment. Yes they do need to man up.

Blessings and hugs.

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on January 27, 2015:

Audrey, thank you for you comment, I am so happy you found it amusing as it was meant to be. It is awful and sad that anyone would think Tom Brady, or Bill Belichick would jeopardize their careers.

Blessings and Hugs

Patty Inglish MS from USA and Asgardia, the First Space Nation on January 26, 2015:

Hilarious poem! A+++

Latest news tonight is that NFL is blaming a locker room attendant for deflating Patriot footballs, because of surveillance footage. So far, they won't show the video. Another poem could be coming from you soon...

FlourishAnyway from USA on January 26, 2015:

Funny. Some people just cannot accept losing. They just need to man up.

Audrey Howitt from California on January 26, 2015:

This is amusing--and in some ways the whole thing is amusing--but also kind of awful! Thank you for your wise and witty commentary--cretainly hit home!

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on January 25, 2015:

Jodah, thank you for the comments and for finding it funny, as it was meant to be. I wrote this when we heard about it. It is so silly that it was brought up by the losing team, because of how badly they lost. My hub made hubby laugh and he does not have much of a sense of humor, so I just had to publish it.

Blessings and Hugs dear friend

I know nothing about the game, but the title got me in and the whole thing was hilarious. Fans of the game might think it more serious however.

Devika Primić from Dubrovnik, Croatia on January 24, 2015:

Hi Shyron you approached this title with great sense and I enjoyed reading. Voted up and interesting.

Voted up and beautiful.

Had to come back and read this again. It is so funny, and I think you did a great job on it all around. Every now and then we need something that will break up the usual and this is it. This is going to be added as one of my favorites because anyone who reads it and can't at least smile needs therapy.

It did get pretty chilly las' night, around 33 last I checked. I try not to complain about it because I know that other weather when I wish it could be 33 if only for a few minutes, is on the way and will be here before you know it.

Going to share this again. Hope all is well there and that you and hubby are both trying really hard not to get into things that will cause trouble. ;) Again, so glad things came out well instead of the way I feared they might. More blessing to you and John . . .

Faith Reaper from southern USA on January 24, 2015:

Hahaha, too funny, Shyron. I read that title, which truly gets one's attention! LOL I am not a National football fan, but do love college football, but really only two team's who have a rivalry in my state.

Up and funny

Hope you are enjoying a great weekend so far.

Blessings

Bill,

Oh, and GO SEAHAWKS!!!!!!! "YES"

Shyron E Shenko (author) from Texas on January 23, 2015:

Thank you Bill for the comment. I don't know if Brady lied but I do think it is more about the bruised ego of the Colts, who had their heads deflated.

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on January 23, 2015:

Oh, and GO SEAHAWKS!!!!!!!

Bill Holland from Olympia, WA on January 23, 2015:

The argument that some are making that it would have changed the outcome of the game is ludicrous. New England would beat them five more times if they played five more times, no matter how much air is in the ball. Now, the more interesting topic is this: Did Brady lie about it?
