Book Review: "Why America Needs to Repent"

Rev. Margaret Minnicks is an ordained Bible teacher. She writes many articles that are Bible lessons.

A very unique book was released on February 15, 2022. The complete title of the book is Why America Needs to Repent: For the Kingdom of God Is at Hand. The book is the work of Pastor Dwane Massenburg who worked on the book continually for several years while listening to God and including what God revealed to him.

About the Book

Why America Needs to Repent is a 444-page book with 42 chapters. After the author describes America in the first chapter, he uses the other 41 chapters to give reasons to repent. They all start with "I Repent for . . ." His concluding chapter is "I Repent Because God Said So."

The book is written in a way that the reader does not have to read chapter by chapter. Instead, he could use the table of contents to go directly to the chapter containing information that he needs to help him the most.

The book is based on biblical principles with scripture references to prove that God wants Americans to repent for the sins they might not even be aware of. Pastor Massenburg reminds readers of those sins that are known and unknown. Therefore, the book is indeed an eye-opener.

Why I Personally Like the Book

I especially like the format of the book. It is arranged in a simplified way that keeps me very interested as I read. I have favorite chapters that I have read more than once. After you receive your copy of the book, I am sure you will find some of the chapters will be more helpful to you than others.

Here are a few examples of my favorite chapters. That does not mean I have not read the other chapters. I read the entire book because it will help me to help others as I write about, teach and preach the word of God.

  • Chapter 5: I Repent for Not Watching
  • Chapter 7: I Repent for Not Asking
  • Chapter 24: I Repent for Trying to Find Answers in All the Wrong Places
  • Chapter 32: I Repent for Not Saying No

My Review That's Posted on the Publisher's Website

The day I received my copy of Why America Needs to Repent I couldn't stop reading it. As an ordained minister of Christian education, I love the biblical references and the author's personal testimonies throughout the book.

As an English teacher, a graphic designer, and a writer, I love the format with bullet points, tables, charts, and call-out passages. It is my type of reading and studying. After reading the book, people will be provoked to repent based on the many reminders to put repentance into practice.

Why I Recommend the Book

I highly recommend the book to parents, Sunday School and Bible Study teachers, small group leaders, and preachers. I also recommend it to those who know they need to repent and to those who are not aware of things they need to repent for. That list covers a whole lot of people. Therefore, it is safe to say that America Needs to Repent should be in the library of every household because there is something in it for everyone.

A 132-page workbook was released on May 8, 2022. It is available for purchase on Amazon in two formats: Paperback $16:95 and Kindle $3.99.

Surely, the book provides valuable information, but the workbook has questions that give readers something to think about as they read the book. The questions are springboards for conversations and great for teaching. Therefore, it would be worthwhile to purchase the workbook as a companion to the book.
