The Author

Alberto Villoldo, Ph.D., is a psychologist, medical anthropologist, and healer who has mastered the healing methods of the shamans of the Amazon and the Andes. He is the director of The Four Winds Society, the founder of the Light Body School, and director of the Center for Energy Medicine in Chile.

Villoldo is the author of several books. He teaches energy medicine to a considerable number of medical professionals and members of the public every year.

He lives in Chile with his wife Marcella Lobos, who is a Shaman healer herself, at the Los Lobos Sanctuary.

The Book

The Grow A New Body: How Spirit and Power Plant Nutrients Can Transform Your Health book was published in 2019 by Hay House Inc. It has 293 pages divided into 18 chapters. The table of contents at the beginning of the book is accurate.

The book is divided into five parts which are:

  1. Discovering Your Inner Healer
  2. Shedding the Old Ways
  3. Overcoming the Death that Stalks You
  4. From Stillness comes Rebirth
  5. The Grow a New Body Program

Practical exercises and instructions are easy to apply and make for an effortless grasp.

In chapters 15 to 17, you will find practical details on how to find “The keys for unlocking the codes in your DNA for growing a new body…”, a questionnaire, and recipes for inner healing.

One of my favorite paragraphs that you can find on page 215 of the book, is when the author says “After the program you will find that you can more easily dance between the visible, physical world of the senses and every tasks, and the invisible world of Spirit.”

Christiane Northrup, M.D., wrote the foreword of the book. Among other achievements, Dr. Northrup is a visionary pioneer in women's health, a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist, and New York Times bestselling author of Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom.

The publisher, Hay House, publishes self-help, motivational, and transformational books, and products.

Writing Style

As with his other books, Villoldo writes with passion about shamanism, healing, self-healing, and true transformation.

He writes from a scientific perspective about his practical and mystical knowledge and experience. He at times illustrates mythological stories that I find captivating.

His writing style is soulful that engages the imagination of readers and touches their hearts.

Cost

A paperback copy costs US$16.99 or $22.99 CAD. Truthfully, the cost is not much compared to his wonderful writing and the unique and helpful information conveyed.

The eBook on Rakuten Kobo costs $13.99 CAD.

Shamanism Courses

For the past few weeks, I have taken online courses with Alberto Villoldo about Shamanism in its various aspects: Courageous Dreaming and The Shaman’s Way of Healing. I also listened to two of his talks on Being In The Flow that I found remarkable.

The learning and practices are fascinating and valuable. At times, the knowledge I am learning seems familiar to me, at other times completely new.

Los Lobos Sanctuary

The Los Lobos Sanctuary where A. Villoldo can be found is a private center in the Chilean Andes. It has a health spa that is located on a coastal hill next to a “World Biosphere Preserve”.

I would love to go there one day for a personal wellness retreat to get mitochondrial repair therapy for optimal health. Who knows? Perhaps when travel is made legal again.

Recommendation

I give this book two thumbs up.

If you want to know about mitochondria and their impact on health and longevity, you should read this book.

This content is accurate and true to the best of the author’s knowledge and is not meant to substitute for formal and individualized advice from a qualified professional.
