Reading is a series of human emotions. Writing is the gift of sharing these emotions.

About Bob Price

I suspect that most writers deliver stories from either personal experience or by witnessing incidents as spectators throughout their lives.

I was born in Africa with European parents during the 1950’s and spent my pre-teenage years living in South Africa and Sierra Leone before coming to England. Africa was far less developed in those days with apartheid in full swing in South Africa and tribalism powerful in both countries. England then was like visiting another planet by comparison. Growing up as a teenager in London during the sixties was a great time. For me anyway that was because of a revolution through music that changed society from a staid pedestrian stroll towards more freedom of expression. The youth of the day had a need to express themselves to be noticed. The Cold War hung over us all with the possibility of a nuclear apocalypse feeling very real.

It was also a time when television became the most powerful medium of communication in the country. When actors and presenters first turned into celebrities recognized in local High Streets. Over the forty years I spent in London, I worked as a police-uniformed officer and detective before joining the Ministry of Defence as a civil servant where I worked as a generalist in a variety of roles. Today, I’m retired and settled in Northern Ireland with my wife and family. A common focus in all my novels and series revolves around right over wrong, good over evil. When I was young, I believed that evil was something only for the church, but today from experience, I believe evil does exist as does good. The problem as I see it is that people are too easily tempted by evil and quickly become lost in its dark grip. Whereas good is more of a struggle and much less to do with physical gain making it less appealing.

Now as a writer, I have disciplined myself to write 1,000 words per day and created four separate series.

About Space Village One

bob-price-books-you-shouldnt-miss-interview-with-the-author

My love for science fiction and in particular with Space Village One, the TV series, Babylon 5 inspired me to create a space station of sorts in a future just forty years ahead of today. As with Babylon 5 which deals with all kinds of political and social issues, I wanted the situations I created to be easily relatable to current topics. For example, a wife escaping an abusive husband by travelling to a space village to escape him. The space village society that had developed over twenty years having no class system thereby aiding equality to develop as a basic foundation of its social system. Also, money is removed as a necessity with people working a set number of hours and rewarded with free meals and accommodation for their efforts. Staying alive in a hostile environment dominates the thinking of the Space Village One inhabitants. Hence, working together to do so while developing and growing the station aids eliminating the artificial necessities included in societies on the surface of Earth. Having a written constitution produced by the Station Founders (a group of scientists and engineers), ensures that whoever wants to settle at the station must agree its terms and conditions.

Conflict with the surface is first hinted at by the refusal of all countries to allow any of the Station’s inhabitants to return to Earth which is dominated by dictatorships, many under the guise of false democracies. Their reason to prevent communities discovering that an equal society is possible and that no one need exist in poverty. When the abused wife of the President of the British Democratic Republic shows up aboard Space Village One as it makes its declaration of independence, political negotiation becomes frenzied as the possibility of conflict escalates.

About The Satanic Chapel

bob-price-books-you-shouldnt-miss-interview-with-the-author

The Satanic Chapel continues the exploits of Superintendent Betty Buick and her small team operating as the Irregular Missing Persons unit (IMP) in basement offices at New Scotland Yard. Buick was chosen to lead the unit because of her consummate knowledge of all things supernatural among colleagues within the Metropolitan Police. Also, a firm desire by senior management to limit knowledge of IMP’s reason for being demanded extreme discretion of all unit members something Buick appeared capable of assuring.

The Satanic Chapel is a tale about Good vs Evil in a modern context. The Devil exists and continues to attract followers who believe they possess the ability to control and use him for their own purposes. After the murder and disappearance of a group of accountants, police investigations across the UK finally reach IMP. A list containing names of dead accountants was being investigated in London when the detectives carrying out the investigation disappeared. IMP is delegated to follow a new investigation team of detectives now searching for the detectives. It quickly transpires that satanists are involved in some devilish plot to take over the UK. As the members of IMP progress, their investigation encounters with demons and other unworldly creatures provide each of them with powers to resist an onslaught from Hell itself.

About Accountability

Publication Date: November 16, 2021

Publication Date: November 16, 2021

The basic concept of Accountability revolves around betrayal and disillusionment. People employed at any level to defend their country are special. Patriotism is a real and powerful weapon as it demands observance of rules expected to apply to all involved. When that does not happen, the system falls apart and rogues are created from what were once the most loyal of supporters. Leo Priest, the former soldier who suffered the betrayal by his management took the time he spent in prison deciding what he intended when released. The revenge formula is now an accustomed sight. However, I hope that I’ve been able to bring some fresh ideas through the participants of my tale.

Accountability is about a soldier who returns from four tours in Afghanistan before being assigned to personal protection duty as a team leader. His deployment keeps him in the UK and quickly turns sour when the High Value Target (HVT) he is protecting murders a young woman. His attempt to prevent her murder is thwarted when his own men turn on him and knock him out. When he awakes, he finds himself in a police cell charged with the young woman’s murder. He is subsequently convicted and serves fifteen years in prison. The story begins upon his release and what his intentions are. However, an approach by a senior government official recommended he move to Australia and forget the whole business, something he finds difficult. Given 24 hours to leave the country after his release, Priest decides to lose the government surveillance team watching him and strikes out to find the real killer.

That I am currently working on Book 2 should tell you that Priest does not complete all of his goals.

About The White Coven - Belfast

Publication Date: June 1, 2021

Publication Date: June 1, 2021

Inspired by the TV series, Charmed and having three daughters of my own, this seemed like a good basis for me to develop a series.

It follows the exploits of three witches who operate a coven in Belfast Northern Ireland. Their coven is a part of a network of covens that cross the globe. The intention of the coven network is to shield the human race from threatening supernatural encounters emerging from other dimensions. To this end, the Belfast coven is recognised as one of the most successful.

The witches themselves unlike their human counterparts are long lived creatures, the eldest being over 500 years old. They originate from the Heaven dimension although none has returned to it since arriving in our dimension. Maintaining an appearance that suggests they are aged in their mid to late twenties it is understandable that they move location every fifty years to avoid attracting attention. Always on the alert for intrusions by demons and other creatures determined to destroy the Human dimension and thereby increase the power of their own, the coven witches operate in secret and with utmost discretion to avoid unwanted attention.

Battles between them and creatures from other dimensions are often fought in sparsely populated areas of the United Kingdom and Ireland and on occasion, in other dimensions. Maintaining a balance between Good and Evil is of paramount importance for the survival of the Human universe.
