Billybuc's Writing/Photo Challenge #5

CONFESSION

I really don’t know what number in this series this one is. I just put #5 because it was the first number I thought of.

Anyway, if you don’t know how this works, allow me to briefly go over the rules with you.

Challenge Rules

There are no rules! How do you like them apples? I provide a picture, or pictures, and they serve as the inspiration for a short story (or poem) by you. It’s just a fun writing exercise. Let’s not bog it all down with rules, okay?

Send Me a Link

The only request I have is that you send a link to me so I’ll know you did it. That way I make sure I comment on your offering. Email me at holland1145@yahoo.com and let me know when you have a finished product.

Why Do It?

Why not? It’s a fun exercise. It gives you a chance to practice your craft. And you just might be amazed by the results.

Here Are Your Prompts

Use one of them or all of them. It’s your option.

Thanks for taking part in this creative exercise.

Read it and commented, Kyler, and loved it! Thanks for taking part in the challenge. It's good to have you back writing.

Kyler J Falk from Corona, CA on October 22, 2020:

Hey there, Bill, just posted my attempt at creating a story from this challenge! For some reason the shed picture wasn't loading up initially, though I did have a plan for it, and so I thought it may have been removed but was still showing in the thumbnail. Turns out it is still here, and now I feel like I missed my chance at a superior tale.

Oh well, I'm not patient enough to go back and give it another go, so my attempt with the other three pictures only will have to do. Shaking off the rust from my absence.

Bill Holland (author) from Olympia, WA on August 25, 2020:

You did quite well, Peg! I thoroughly enjoyed your story.

Peg Cole from Northeast of Dallas, Texas on August 25, 2020:

I'm off to a late start but I like this idea and the photos are inspiring. I hope to come up with something quickly. It's been a while since I felt the presence of the muse. Thanks for the inspiration on this hot, summer's day.

Bill Holland (author) from Olympia, WA on August 24, 2020:

I did and I enjoyed the story very much. Thank you for taking part in the challenge, my friend.

Bill Holland (author) from Olympia, WA on August 24, 2020:

I got it, read it, and loved it, Sha!

Bill Holland (author) from Olympia, WA on August 24, 2020:

It should be fun, Peggy! Thank you!

EK Jadoon from Abbottabad Pakistan on August 23, 2020:

I have posted my article in response to your challenge, Bill. Have a read and let me know how it is.

Shauna L Bowling from Central Florida on August 23, 2020:

Bill, I just posted my response to this challenge. I emailed the link to you.

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on August 23, 2020:

Like all of your photo prompts, I am sure that you will have many takers. It will be fun reading what others write.

Bill Holland (author) from Olympia, WA on August 23, 2020:

Thank you Rajan! I hope they start appearing soon.

Bill Holland (author) from Olympia, WA on August 23, 2020:

I was close, Flourish; turns out this is #6.

Bill Holland (author) from Olympia, WA on August 23, 2020:

Great suggestion, Ann! Great minds think alike.

Looking forward to yours, dear friend.

bill

Bill Holland (author) from Olympia, WA on August 23, 2020:

We all have different talents, Denise. I wouldn't even attempt to draw a picture for this challenge, but you could do it and do it very well....and I hope you do.

Blessings always

bill

Bill Holland (author) from Olympia, WA on August 23, 2020:

I look forward to it, EK, and I promise not to laugh; unless, of course, it's meant to be funny.

Bill Holland (author) from Olympia, WA on August 23, 2020:

I'm glad to hear it, Nathan! Have fun!

Rajan Singh Jolly from From Mumbai, presently in Jalandhar, INDIA. on August 23, 2020:

Will love to read the short stories and poems as I always do. Thank you.

FlourishAnyway from USA on August 22, 2020:

I chuckled at that random assignment of numbers In the confession. Looking forward to seeing what people generate.

Ann Carr from SW England on August 22, 2020:

Why not try a drawing or painting slant to it, Denise? Just a thought! It could all start in that little studio in the garden, first picture. I'm sure you could do it because you're good at writing.

You've got some interest here, bill! Still working on mine.

Ann

Denise McGill from Fresno CA on August 22, 2020:

I love these prompts but I admit it what others do with them that thrills me most. Anything I have come up with has always paled in comparison with what I read from your many other talented followers. I know I shouldn't compare my writing with other peoples but I can't help it. I feel my imagination doesn't hold a candle. Now if we were talking about drawing or painting something, that may be a different matter. Oh well. Thanks for the prompts.

Blessings,

Denise

EK Jadoon from Abbottabad Pakistan on August 22, 2020:

I will definitely try to come up with your challenge. But hopefully, I will not make you laugh as a newbie. LOL.

Nathan Bernardo from California, United States of America on August 21, 2020:

Thanks, Bill. I needed that. Feeling bogged down, needed to do something creative.

Bill Holland (author) from Olympia, WA on August 20, 2020:

Linda, I have no doubt they will entertain us with their talents.

Bill Holland (author) from Olympia, WA on August 20, 2020:

Sorry, Liz! I'm a little late on the walks with the dogs. I was writing different articles and just fell behind. We'll get back out there soon.

Bill Holland (author) from Olympia, WA on August 20, 2020:

None at all, Ann! :)

Linda Crampton from British Columbia, Canada on August 19, 2020:

This sounds like an interesting challenge, Bill. I'm looking forward to seeing how people create a story or poem based on your photos.

Liz Westwood from UK on August 19, 2020:

I was expecting one of your walks. This was a surprise. I look forward to reading the results. Hopefully one day I might get time to participate myself.

Bill Holland (author) from Olympia, WA on August 19, 2020:

These are always fun challenges, Pamela. I look forward to them as well. Thank you!

Bill Holland (author) from Olympia, WA on August 19, 2020:

Whatever you come up with, Eric, it will be memorable. Let the juices flow, my friend.

Bill Holland (author) from Olympia, WA on August 19, 2020:

No pressure then!

LOL..sorry about that, Eric! I'll work on my timing for next time, buddy.

Pamela Oglesby from Sunny Florida on August 19, 2020:

I look forward to reading the stories. I dont know if I will be one of them at this time. It will be enjoyable, Bill.

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on August 19, 2020:

Bill you know me. I tell yarns and longer stories. But maybe this story is fun based on your challenge.

Shauna L Bowling from Central Florida on August 19, 2020:

Wow, Bill, you caught me by surprise! This will be a tough challenge to meet since I know the origin behind each photo and the lives they've touched. Talk about forgetting everything you know! How the hell do you do that?

I'll see what I can come up with, tho.

BTW, this is challenge number six. LOL

Alyssa from Ohio on August 19, 2020:

Yay! Just what I need to spark some creativity. Fingers crossed something comes to me sooner rather later. haha! Thanks Bill!

Devika Primić from Dubrovnik, Croatia on August 19, 2020:

Hi Bill I like the idea of your challenge and sue you would get responses.

Ann Carr from SW England on August 19, 2020:

I was waiting for this! A few ideas are trying to sort themselves out in my little brain, so give me time and I should come up with something.

Thanks for your challenges; they always seem to kickstart a few of us!

Ann

Eric Dierker from Spring Valley, CA. U.S.A. on August 19, 2020:
