Beach Poetry
Brittany is a self-published poet who lives in the lowcountry of South Carolina.
The beach. Who doesn't dream of living in such a place? Warm weather the majority of the year, relaxing tides crashing onto the sand, scattered seashells to add to your collection at home at no cost, water activities, seagulls flying in the sun, building sand castles, relaxing in the sun with a good book, fishing on the pier, and ocean views while dining at restaurants. This environment is paradise to most individuals. The longer I've lived in the palmetto state, the more I've realized the majority of the locals are originally from other states, including myself. Many people retire by the beach from up north or visit for summer vacation. The beach is a great place to relax and forget about one's problems.
Beachy Environment
Blue green waters
Salty air that blows my hair
A seagull flies high in the air
Laughter from children swimming in ocean waves
Mothers yell while browsing their cells at kids that misbehave
Boogies boards gliding by
Teenage boys with a gleam in their eye
Couples walk hand in hand
Along the shoreline and the sand
Young, tan ladies lay in the sun
Fit, muscled athletes run for fun
A boat in the distance sails away
Looking like a portrait in a carefree way
Seashells scattered on the ground
If pressed against your ear, you'll hear an ocean sound
Men are fishing on the pier
While spouses read books they hold dear
I wrote this poem in October of 2020 on my poetry blogging website.
Carolina Beaches
Fishing in the beginning of the day
Seagulls flying above the bay
Sweet and salty Carolina beaches
Lemonade stands beside the shore
Sand built castles on the floor of the Carolina beaches
Scattered starfish in my hands
This is the life of the Grand Strand
Ocean views from my backyard
Hearing calls from the lifeguard
On the east coast of the Carolina beaches
Reading a book under the sun
Riding the ferris wheel at night for fun
I'm living my best life near the Carolina beaches
Mermaids smile with tiny children while their parents melt with warmth
Families looking to escape daily routines from up north
Near the relaxing tides of the Carolina beaches
Poem written for a poetry book I self-published in November of 2020

Hi Chrish. I'm glad you enjoyed my poem. Outdoor environments are definitely places people can take for granted. The virus makes you appreciate the simple experiences in life.
Much love.
Chrish Canosa from Manila Philippines on March 06, 2021:
Hey there Ms Brittany! I'm so into your poem. I love beaches. But nowadays it's kind of a big deal since the virus subverted the lives of many.
Have an awesome day!
I'm sending a bunch of love from the Philippines

Thank you. Wilmington is a nice area. I like to visit from time to time.

I enjoyed your poems. I grew up in Wilmington, NC and it was exactly 5 miles from my driveway to the drawbridge to Wrightsville Beach, so you can imagine I spent most of my youth on the sand or on the pier.
