Baby Santa Surprises Papa Santa

Baby Santa makes his debut as Papa Santa's helper in the first story. It's Christmas Eve and Santa is getting the sleigh and reindeer ready for the big trip to deliver all the gifts. Baby Santa pops out when Santa uncovers the sleigh. Baby Santa also surprises Mrs. Claus while she is busy baking. Santa discovers a surprise when he is ready to load the gifts. Baby Santa created some mischievous in the workshop and now Santa must get busy fixing all of the mess. Baby Santa saves the day when he tells Santa that he can help fix the disaster that he created when he unwrapped all of the gifts. Baby Santa proves that he knows all of the children's names and which gifts should be delivered to each child. He is rewarded by being allowed to make the Christmas Eve trip to deliver all of the gifts.

Baby Santa was published by Greenleaf Book Group Press and has an ISBN of 978-1-60832-061-5. It is recommended for ages 3-5.

Baby Santa and the Gift of Giving

Christmas is all about giving and M. Maitland DeLand's Baby Santa and the Gift of Giving is a great selection from this collection of picture books with Baby Santa to introduce young children to the giving season. Baby Santa and Santa take a trip to New York City. They encounter a family who knows what giving is all about. The Bond family cook and serve meals in a special kitchen so that many can have a Christmas meal. They also make a trip to a hospital to help sick children have a Merry Christmas while in the hospital. They visit an animal shelter to provide Christmas gifts for the homeless pets. The Bond children are encouraged to drop some coins into the Salvation Army bucket. All of these activities certainly are great examples of how we all can give to others this season. Baby Santa and the Bond family also discover the beautiful sights in New York City during the trip.

Baby Santa and the Gift of Giving is recommended for ages 3-6 and has an ISBN of 978-1-62634-086-2,

Baby Santa's Worldwide Christmas Adventure

Deland's Baby Santa's Worldwide Christmas Adventure is a fun read from this collection and features a shocking adventure when Santa discovers that the sleigh is missing! Who could be responsible? The elves admit to taking the sleigh but they had a mishap and now the sleigh might not be ready in time for the Christmas Eve trip. What will Santa do? Baby Santa comes to the rescue with his idea. Young readers will be engaged with how the problem is solved so that all get their gifts on Christmas Eve. Colorful illustrations feature the countries that Santa and Baby Santa visit. Travel the world with Baby Santa and Santa as they deliver all of the gifts on Christmas Eve.

Baby Santa's Worldwide Christmas Adventure is my favorite in this collection. It has an ISBN of 978-1-60832-062-2. It is recommended for ages 3-5.

Baby Santa and the Lost Letters

What would happen if all the letters written by children went missing in Santa's mailbox? Santa makes the last trip to the mailbox and it's empty! This is the last week before Christmas Eve and Santa has no idea what the children might want for Christmas if he doesn't find the letters. Baby Santa helps to look for the letters. Could they be in the reindeer barn? Prancer calls out to all the animals around the world to search for the letters. A surprising ending to where the letters are found saves the day. The animals from around the world help to deliver the letters just in time for Santa to get the gifts ready for the trip on Christmas Eve.

Baby Santa and the Lost Letters is another favorite in this collection. The creative use of the animals in helping Santa make this one of my favorites in the collection. This story also offers a geography lesson for young children.

Baby Santa and the Lost Letters has an ISBN of 978-1-60832-194-0.

Baby Santa and the Missing Reindeer

What would happen if there were no reindeer to pull Santa's sleigh? Santa discovers that all of the reindeer have flown off to have some adventures of their own before the big trip on Christmas Eve. Dancer makes a trip to Russia and dances with the nutcracker. Comet rides and elephant in India to decorate a Christmas tree. Donner visits Australia. Blitzen takes the opportunity to see a football game. But Santa does not have to worry-they all make it back to pull the sleigh for the big trip on Christmas Eve.

Baby Santa and the Missing Reindeer has an ISBN of 978-1-60832-576-4.

Bring Baby Santa Into the Classroom for Fun Reading and Holiday Lessons

Holiday books were always my favorite for teaching activities during the Christmas season. I used picture books in my early childhood classroom during the holidays to engage my young students in learning while the excitement of the holidays was rising daily. This collection of Deland's Baby Santa stories offers many opportunities for holiday lessons and activities.

One of my favorites in this collection is Baby Santa and the Gift of Giving. This delightful story teaches the lessons of giving for the season.

*Read Baby Santa and the Gift of Giving for your story time session. Call attentionto the ways that the Bond family is sharing the season with less fortunate people in New York City.

*The Bond family helps serve Christmas meals to the needy. Organize a class project for students to bring in food items to be donated to an organization in your community.

*The Bond family also donates to an animal shelter. Have students bring in items that are needed for the homeless pets in a shelter in your community.

Baby Santa's Worldwide Christmas Adventure offers the opportunity share creative lessons for learning about Christmas around the world. Baby Santa and Papa Santa visit France, Australia, Itally, and even Egypt. Prepare lessons for learning about Christmas in these and the other countries that are featured in this story and picture book. Cooking treats from around the world is also a fun way to extend the reading experience after reading this one from the collection.
