B-24A Liberator: Now Named: "Diamond Lil" (Formerly known as "'ol 927")

I see your side tail rudder…through the waist gun aft hole…

High above it All…You are something rare that is “Flying”…and in full control.

Your strong streamlined fuselage of camo-green…and aluminum insides tell a story…

Of the famous “Liberator”…who still flies High… in all of her Glory.

Heading...once again...Down the Runway...and back up into the Sky...

You fly with all the strength and might...Like you were made to fly.

Let the engines roar…and let the propellers’ take a chomp out of the wind…

You've returned back up to the Sky…where you forever belong…one more time again.

The ones who fly and care for you…Know this is where you were made to be…

With every flight that you continue to take…you continue to make History.

You can’t keep a good Warbird plane down…

And there is no reason for her to remain on the ground !

You were made for the Air…to slip above each Cloud…

I hear your mighty engines declare this fact…they declare it out loud.

There is no faint wobble or old creak heard inside you…from old age…

Your construction lasted all the way to the end of the book…and is now writing a new page.

The birds off your wing…recognize you…as one of them…an old friend...

You’ve been around for so long…they share the Sky with you… as it has always been.

The B-24 Liberator was first designed with the landing gear locked up in raised position…

Every person viewing you from that time on…must respect this engineering decision.

You were not made to stay stuck here on Earth…

"Diamond Lil"…Time for you to fly...for all you're worth.

There is a time and place for everything…Yet…still...up in the Sky…you remain…

Never let us forget how important you are...And those who served aboard each WWII plane.
