First time I saw poster of Albert Einstein sticking out of his tongue, I do not believe that it’s a real photograph. I thought Einstein famous tongue photo was a product of computer manipulated by someone who made Einstein jokes and has unique sense of humor. Alas, I was definitely wrong.
Einstein photo stinking out his tongue is a real photo. It took by Photographer Arthur Sasse in 1951 and famous tongue became an icon of Einstein in his later years. The other famous photo is genius look of old Einstein his expressive face and distinctive crazy haired mad hairstyle.

Famous picture “Einstein sticking out of his tongue” was taken when Einstein would like went home after celebration of 72nd birthday in Princeton on March 14, 1951. While walking to a car with Dr Frank Aydelotte and Mrs Aydelotte, reporters followed trying to get shots of Einstein. Although already sitting in the car, Einstein still bullied by reporter and photographer.
UPI Photographer Arthur Sasse let the crowd of reporters take their pictures. When the crowd had dispersed, Arthur Sasse walked up close to the car and said, "Ya, Professor, shmile [sic] for your birthday picture, Ya?" Einstein really grew tired of photographers and journalist who asked to pose for birthday picture, he probably thinking the photographer would not fast enough. Einstein respond it with unique sense of humor and stuck his tongue and quickly turned his head away.
But lucky for Arthur Sasse who shoot the famous tongue. The picture ran as a shot of all three people in the car. The original picture famous tongue shows Einstein sitting on the backseat of a car between Dr Frank Aydelotte, the former head of the Institute for Advanced Study, and his wife. Photographer Arthur Sasse pressed the button of his camera in just in moment.
Einstein liked the photo and cut up so that it was just his head with his famous tongue. He used it for greeting cards joke that he sent to his friends. This photograph Einstein sticking out of his tongue became one of the most popular ever taken of Einstein. Famous tongue often used or reproduced on merchandise posters, sticker, coffee cups, and shirt joke. On June 19, 2009, the photograph was sold at auction for $74,324, a record for an Einstein picture.
