It is no secret that I am a huge fan of Rush Limbaugh, the king of talk radio and a conservative voice. He has been a regular host of his successful radio franchise that is on air 3 hours a day and 5 days a week. His syndicated show started in 1988 has over 300 affiliates and over 13 million regular listeners.

I have been a listener of Rush since the early 1990s. At first, if was just random here and there when I happen to switch to the station in NY. Since I was working full time, I could not listen from 12 noon to 3 pm on a regular basis. His conservative message is what made me a loyal customer again and again. He was the lone wolf in the wilderness. His unique style of speaking commands respect even at times when you might disagree with him which is rare by the way. He is also very entertaining in his presentation. He combines humor and politics in a simple down to earth manner that makes his audience engaged.
Rush is also a teacher. His knowledge and understanding of worldly affairs and of history is invaluable to his listeners. I have to agree that his listeners are probably smarter and more informed than the average guy on the street. Just by tuning in, one gets the important news of the day and along with his unique perspective and commentary. What is most amazing is that he is often right. He has a keen sense of the issues and is able to digest complex ideas into easy to understand parts.
Rush had a natural gift in public speaking. It is not easy to be in front of a microphone 3 hours a day and just talk. It is totally unscripted. This is a natural talent few individuals possess. Most hosts or news anchors read from a script. Rush just talks and he reacts on the fly and is quick on his feet and his wit.
With Rush, there seems to be no middle-ground. Either you love him or you hate him. There are many detractors who will tell you what Rush said and quote him out of context to sway public opinion. You only have to listen to him a few times and you will be hooked.
My Personal Experience
Having been a regular listener for twenty plus years, I know exactly what Rush is about. I know his MO. Since I am a reader of web news, I usually get the headline off the Drudge report. I believe Rush gets some of his sources from Drudge as well. He will often talk about a topic that was breaking on Drudge. This is no coincident. Rush spend hours show prep and he goes through all the top news sites and collates the news of the day and choose which ones to talk about during his show. Occasionally, he would have a call from the listener and those are few and far in between. Even more rare is having a scheduled guest on his show.
I have nevered called in or even tried to call in. There were a few times when I had the urge but stopped short. I knew it would be a small chance of getting through. Besides, I am not good at speaking off the cuff. I prefer to do my analysis by writing on my blog. That is one of the reasons I admire about Rush. He can just talk about almost any topic or issue and sound coherrent and makes sense. Not many people in this world can do that. That is the secret to his success.
Recently, I found out Rush is offering his listeners a chance to speak out. We are asked to submit a letter explaining our background and why we listen...
I jumped at this opportunity, mainly to thank him for his many years of entertainment and education. To my surprise, I received a confirmation email from Rush’s staff. They want me to conduct a video conference to learn more about my personal story. I was thrilled and humbled. Out of thousands of entries, I was chosen among a handful of listeners. That is an extreme honor.
The day of the video conference, I was sitting in front of my computer and introduced to three of Rush’s staff. They were charming and engaging and made me felt at ease. They asked questions and allowed me to tell my story. That 15 minutes was one of the highlights of my life.
About a week later, I received a box in the mail. It was a gift package from Rush. What a surprise and totally unexpected. It included a personal note from Rush, and some T Shirts and a Golf shirt, and two mugs and a Christmas ornament. He thanked me for participating in this video conference. His generosity is another of Rush’s traits. Often on a show, he would give his callers gifts of great value. This is who he is. He is like the rich uncle who just like to spoil his nephews and nieces. I will wear the shirts proudly, and hang the ornament on my tree next Christmas.

What does it mean when Rush talk about the “drive by media.“ This is a term Rush coined to describe what some of the media does in their reporting of events. He compares it to drive-by shooting of gangs. What they do is come to a scene and start shooting and causing a disturbance. Then, quickly, they leave and let the chaos percolate. They claim no responsibility and move on to something else. That is exactly what some in the media does. They take a controversial subject matter and make a splash with a breaking news headline...and then quickly move on to another story. In a way, they created the news instead of reporting on the news.
The term Feminazi is another of Rush’s lexicon. It was miss understood by people unfamiliar with Rush and his style. They thought it to be a derogatory name calling on Rush’s part. In reality, it is a fitting description of what some feminists especially the leaders of the feminine movement have become. They have taken the position that you must agree with them or else you are a bigot or mIsogynist. That is exactly what the Fascist movement was. There is only their way or the highway. Therefore, this term is an accurate description of the leaders of the Feminist movement and NOW.
Demonstrating absurdity by being absurd. Rush is a unique talent. He try to be entertaining and inform at the same time. He spots trends and connect the dots better than anyone in the media. If you are not a regular listener of his program, you may not understand what he does at times on his show. The critics of Rush and those who constantly quote him on other media does not understand this. They will report some of the crazy things Rush said on a particular topic not knowing that it was satire. In his best selling book “The Way Things Ought To Be”, published in 1992, he has a whole Chapter explaining this. Yet, in 2018, there are still many people in media who does not listen to Rush or understand Rush or get his humor.
The satire by Paul Shanklin on Barack Obama is a classic. If you have not heard it, you need to go to youtube and check it out. It was one of the great satire of all times.
The video is funny because there is an element of truth to it. That is what makes a good satire.
A Satire on Congressman Barney Frank
Rush the Best Selling Author
Rush has written some best sellers and the most impactful are the Rush Revere children’s series. These books are entertaining, and educational at the same time. It teaches children and adults our unique and exceptional history.
This is a tribute to Rush for his many years of service and for standing up for conservative principles. Happy 30th year anniversary and wish you many more.

Yeah Jack, that's because you don't have to deal with a customer service department to use them!
Did you listen to Rush today? He spent the first part of his show lamenting about how incompetent everyone he has to deal with is! Exactly my experience too! Not just with these products I mentioned but everywhere and anywhere you have a need ty o deal with customer service! People take no pride in their work and don't have a clue how to meet a customer's needs!

Tsad, by the way, all the products that Rush sent me as gifts are high quality..including the mugs, the t shirt, the golf shirt...

Tsad, thank for this details. The old saying caveat emptor applies...
The Logician from then to now on on April 03, 2019:
I did Jack 7 months ago, twice and got no reply - on top of this the other one he pushes, legacy box, another incompetent comoany. I used it on Rush's special 50% discount. I sent 8 mm films and 15 pictures.
They returned my originals but the digital conversions that were sent me were a whole collection of someone else's family pictures! And the 8mm Videos were converted at a too fast speed - it was like watching a Benny hill movie! I don't know who they sent my pictures too! I warned Rush, got no answer. CS claimed this has never happened (yeah, right I'm the only person who just happens to get ripped off by both the companies Rush pushes?) I had to go to the VP of legacy box to finally get an apology and refund. I know some one else who sent a panorama picture from the 40's and because it was so big they cut it into 5 separate digital sections! He put it back together himself on his computer and guess what - part of it in the middle was missing, the sections couldn't be matched together!
I will never partake of anything any of the broadcasters recommend -they obviously only care about making money.
Like relief factor - people like Medved and Pregor were touting that they have an 80% renewal record. I wrote them both and explained the reason was that to try their trial offer you have to subscribe to automatically renewals (evidently they didn't know that's a scam practice) Most people forget to cancel. I got no replies but within weeks Medved stopped saying it and Pregor went from 80% to 70% in his touting the company product. And I can tell you that is still a lie. Companies like this count on the placebo affect which eventually wears off. Even if their product is worthless they make millions from people suffering the placebo affect and reordering. That's why they keep advertising it year after year - they need to get new people affected by the placebo affect which can account for up to 30% of renewals or all the renewals if the product doesn't really work. And on top of that Medved yours it as totally harmless with no side effects which is a lie - if you are on a blood thinner it can kill you!

Tsad, sorry about your problem with I Drive. I am sure you can contact Rush directly via his website and email and file a complaint. They are just one of his many advertisers...
The Logician from then to now on on April 02, 2019:
Sue, here is something you can tell him - the I- Drive company he touts everyday is nothing but a bunch of deceitful crooks- you can get a hint of what they do online from the BBB complaints but that is nothing. They fleece people all the time, their customer service is WORTHLESS and if you have to actually install a backup because your drive dies it doesn’t work and screws up everything. I know because I went through it Their CS doesn’t have a clue on how to fix anything - you'd think with millions of subscribers they know how to fix a problem immediately but all I got was try this, doesn’t work, then try this, that doesn’t work, then try this, honestly nothing they say to try works and you can’t get through on the phone! I love Rush but he is snowed big time on this company and it is only going to come back to bite him after the ftc gets the whole story on how they charge credit cards without authorization and purposely cause you to go over your storage allotment when you get near renewal so they can charge you overage. It’s a rippoff and I can’t believe Rush is blind to it!
Jack Lee (author) from Yorktown NY on April 02, 2019:
Sue, don’t be nervous. His staff are the nicest people. They are just people like you and me. I didn’t get the chance to speak with Rush in person. However, they did caught me by surprise at the end by asking me if there is anything I would like to ask him? I couldn’t think of anything at the moment but they told me I could email them later...which I did.
You can be prepared since I just gave you a heads up.

and I must say I am hard pressed to think of any differences with the man I have regarding any issues although I suppose I too may have some differences if "differences regarding some issues" doesn't necessarily mean disagreement on those issues.

Jack, I can appreciate all the accolades you have tossed out toward our friend, Rush Limbaugh. He is as genuine a human being as has ever walked the earth. I have some differences with the man regarding some issues, but he still is one of the greatest communicators and visionaries alive today. The very fact that his name generates so much controversy is a testament to his effectiveness. Thank you for writing this article and congratulations for receiving recognition from EIB and the man himself.

Well I picked this readout because my husband also listens to Rush Limbaugh and he is very detailed in what he speaks We enjoy him so much
The Logician from then to now on on February 23, 2018:
Mike, his greatest contribution has to be revealing what liberalism actually is and specifically defining it as a world view because liberals would portray themselves to gullible people as just the opposite. Rush Limbaugh broke down “liberalism” in a detailed-yet-simplistic way for his listeners.
Limbaugh argued that “in a free country, people will not choose liberalism.”
“If they want to eat salt, they’ll eat it. If they want to eat trans fats, they’ll eat it. If they want to eat beef, they’ll eat it,” he explained. “The only way liberals can get you to live the way they want you to is to deny you freedom to do what you want to do. And they’re not happy with you living and thinking in ways other than the way they live and think. You must conform.”
He also pointed out that “liberals cannot survive in an unrigged contest in the arena of ideas.”
That’s because, according to Limbaugh, “they are not about ideas.”
“Liberals are not about choice; they are about imposition. The way they live, the way they believe, must be imposed on people, otherwise they won’t do it on their own,” he added. “It’s taken them 50, 60 years to get to this point of conditioning people, of taking hold of the education system, the university, academia system, the media. It’s taken a long time to condition people not to stand up for themselves, not to exercise freedom, not to speak outside the acceptable norms. What is political correctness but speech censorship, is all it is.”
The thing is, although Rush is a Republican, he is not talking about Democrats per say but liberalism and there is liberalism, too much liberalism, in the Republican party and he also points that out.
Jack Lee (author) from Yorktown NY on February 23, 2018:
Mike, I agree. Rush is also a National treasure.

The Logician from then to now on on February 19, 2018:
Well said Jack. I was apolitical until I began to listen to Rush many years ago (but not soon enough). When I was young I focused on the obvious hypocrisy in politics on both sides of the aisle and simply dismissed it as a waste of my time but Rush opened my eyes to what is really going on in politics and the world and once you gain his perspective on things it all makes sense and you realize "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." was never more true and applicable than in the realm of liberalism verses conservatism.
Jack Lee (author) from Yorktown NY on February 18, 2018:
Jennifer and Tsad, you are both right. Rush is one of a kind. I find him very intelligent, self taught since he dropped out of college, and he is a student of history. He has taught me so much via his many books, starting with the one Jennifer mentioned and later with the Rush Revere series for children. They are really entertaining and teaches about out history and heritage. He is also not political like your typical talking heads or politician. He enjoys being independent and away from Washington DC but he does interact with many in the politcal scene. He does have influence one way or another. He is an american icon.
The Logician from then to now on on February 18, 2018:
Jack, nice to see anyone speak out about Rush, his talents and accomplishments. He is above all else an educator and anyone who will listen regularly to his broadcast (for at least a month) and not learn anything of value to affect their world view, outlook and opinion on life, politics, society and government is beyond help of any kind.
Jennifer - odd that you say you were a never Trumper and cite that as a disagreement with Rush, then you say you like Prager and Medved when neither of them were never Trumpers, actually very supportive of Trump, even more so than Rush. Rush really doesn't "support" anyone as much as he just tells it like it is and let's you decide. If you listen to him on Trump and still are a never Trumper then you simply aren't listening. When the choice is between pure evil like Hillary and policies that will and are helping America how can anyone say never Trump?
Jennifer Mugrage from Columbus, Ohio on February 17, 2018:
In the early 1990s, I was in high school. I guess Rush had been broadcasting for about 10 years by then, but that is when I remember him bursting onto the scene. He published his book, The Way Things Ought to Be, and I think there was a cover story about him in a major news magazine. So, that was when I first became aware of him, just as with you. After that, my brother and Dad started listening to him occasionally.
Though our family was Christian and hence conservative on many social issues, still I had never heard anybody make a compelling, heartfelt, unapologetic case for political conservatism. In the political climate I was raised in, we were apologetic about being American and capitalist, and we were against national defense because it involved killing people. Before Rush, I had never heard anybody talk about free markets, the USA, and actually defending yourself like they were *good* things rather than necessary evils.
The main thing I remember him saying in his book was, "Look, I'm entertainer. I believe everything I say, but I wouldn't be saying it on the radio unless it entertained people and made me some money." I found this refreshingly honest and practical and I think it's crucial to understanding Rush.
I don't listen to his show regularly (I like Dennis Prager and Michael Medved). Nor do I always agree with him. I was a never Trumper, for example. Also Rush's extensive research means that half the time, I am new to the topic he is talking about and have little idea what's going on.
That said, when I do occasionally tune in, his gift is obvious. Even if he's just reading one sentence from an article he wants to talk about, the way he reads it is entertaining.
And it's nice to see a current picture of you, Jack. :-)
Jack Lee (author) from Yorktown NY on February 17, 2018:
AB, thanks. I do believe there are more of us out there... we are winning some hearts and souls and thanks to Rush.
A B Williams from Central Florida on February 17, 2018:
Good for you Jack!
I too am a big fan of Rush. I have been ever since I was venting to my husband one day about who knows what that say...
He said there is this guy on the radio, you have to listen to him, he sees things as we do. I've been listening ever since. It works out well for me to do so. We are self-employed, I am at a drafting table most days and Rush is on the radio.
