A Mothers' Day Poem in Pidgin English

a-mothers-day-poem-in-pidgin-english

To the Best Woman in the World

I love you - no be joke

I fit no GREE drink Coke

Just to prove say I ready to go broke

If na that one go make us no suffer stroke

For our MARRIAGE – I no dey croak

Allow me to YARN every bloke

Say my Babe, wey name be Mina, sabi stoke

Every FIRE ENOUGH to burn away my cloak

As you celebrate the week of mothers

I serenade you to the “RAFTERS”

You are a VIRTUOUS WOMAN – yes, my heart flutters

Knowing you hold the key to my abdominal “SHUTTERS”

I appreciate all your love – your “LITTLE” wonders

And I pray God to grant you your heart's desires

So that you will be counted among the dancers

In this year of divine answers….

I love you - no be small

Even if em-tee-en no gree, I must to call

GLO go helep me even if my name no be Paul

Just love me the way I be and I go stand tall.

Kaycee, you are really funny but you still made your point. Your wife is blessed to have you. What else can any woman ask for?

LOved reading this minakay - it had a wonderful rythme to it and as I read I was trying to remember how Pidgin English goes - I mean how it's organized. Good stuff thankyou.
