Never Heard
A graduate of Psychology who finds writing poems therapeutic. A caring mother, loving wife, compassionate counselor, and music lover.
Recalling the past
Flashing back memories
Figuring out almost faded details
Never heard you say the words I longed to hear
Financially providing
Materially as being given
Without further deliberation
That was it and never heard the magic words I considered
How's me after all these times
I know you're losing track of that
Personally, I have grown a lot
Wish I was able to let you know that
Showing moderate and even less concern
Sounds shallow and superficial
Hesitates to show inner sentiments
That is probably what I need to keep me going
As my mind travels through
Quite difficult and hard to remember
Any single moment you tried to say how's me
With the truest sense of the word
Silence increases
Pretending things are just okay
I know there's something wrong
Yet never heard from you
Little appreciation
Simple how are you
Making me feel that I belong
That is humbly I need and never heard from you
Wish we are conditioned to be open
Open about expressing the way we feel about things
Since we are already clouded
With the psychological spaces, we cage ourselves
Praying that I could find the key
To enrich and save the family relationship we have
And live much more meaningful lives
That was never heard before
Clouds of doubt may often covered my mind
An array of confusion may sometimes overwhelmed my heart
Yet, here I am still hoping and looking for bright new days to come
Even if I never heard the words I longed to hear from you.
About This Poem
At some instances in our family life, a lack of openness may not be of help. It hurts the most since we wanted to reach out and feel that our presence matters. May concern & appreciation be in your home.

Nice poem on importance of openness in any relationship (new or old).
Being open comes with confidence when one knows that faltering or getting comments or few taunts does not make much difference, in the course of interactions among people. Where most falter is when one takes these comments seriously.
