Requisite Strategies for Revision

I've been a teacher at a school for 26 years teaching them the English language and kept my motto of giving them the best knowledge.

INTRODUCTION

Revision, proofreading, and editing are important tools to check one’s written work and manuscript. Though all are necessary while checking the completed work, but are different entities in themselves.

It is of utmost importance for all aspiring writers, students, and working professionals to be well versed in its working methods. They should be able to differentiate between them.

All students and new writers should know the crucial, and basic differences between revision, and editing.

A writer must first of all focus on his writing work. They must jot down all the ideas with full concentration. They should not write, revise, and edit simultaneously.

After having finished their writing, they ought to first revise the completed work. Then they must edit their creation. It should be done one after the other. Editing the manuscript must be done after the revision of the written composition has been completed

TIPS FOR REVISION

There are some powerful strategies to bear in mind when one is revising the manuscript. As said earlier the revision must begin after the writing has been completed.

During the revision work, the text must be read thoroughly at least thrice without any editing being done.

Take a Break

: When the work has been finished the writer must take a small but essential break. This break gives their mind some peace. It helps the writers recoup their energy.

So when they return to their manuscript they can concentrate on the finished product. They are then easily able to lap onto some simple but silly mistakes and rectify them

Understand the Text First:

Any text manuscript moves around its main theme. The author or writer must first make sure that the topic isn’t going haywire. This task is looked into after the writer has gone into the first thorough reading of the document.

One should, at the onset, make sure that the document or story can be clearly understood in context to its main idea around which it is revolving.

The work should be creative and must have utilized a good angle to its overall value. It then keeps the reader glued to the manuscript from start to finish.

Justify Yourself

The text must have significant, and clear cut consistency with regards to the points being discussed. The composer should be able to justify each statement, and questions that can be inquired into, and put forth.

So they must look into the points, and words being discussed, and these should lead to valid reasons with regards to its main theme, and story.

Read Slowly but Loudly:

The creator ought to read each sentence, and paragraph in a slow but loud tone. It should be borne in mind by them that everyone can grasp the full intention which their text is portraying.

This composition must concur completely with the main subject being highlighted. The composer ought to understand if anything goes off track the readers will lose interest in their work.

Ensure You Are Not Distracted

The author while giving the manuscript a thorough, and slow reading should keep in mind a few points. First of all, they should be able to fully focus, and concentrate on their document.

They must sit in a quiet place so that they do not get distracted by any kind of noise and distraction. Such diversions will be harmful to their work.

Proofread Your Content:

After revising the written composition one should complete slow proofreading of the manuscript. Such measured, and steady reading will immediately highlight simple mistakes being committed.

These readings will point out all the common mistakes that have been done unintentionally while writing. It will also show which words, and phrases have been repeated. They can be taken note of.

One can further check if the specific language is being maintained or not throughout the work. The revision will show if any language variation has been committed.

Such variations and mistakes can be edited after the third revision has been done. It will make the composition attractive, and meaningful to the readers.

CONCLUSION

In revision one must update or modify the copy to reflect correct, and important information, and facts. Simply said entire pareagraphs can be rewritten or alterd.

This preliminary draft is like the test run for a new product, may be electronics, vehicles, and gadgets.

So while revising one must make necessary changes where required before launching the product.

It should be borne in mind that the overall story or context should remain the same.

Thus it can be concluded that a proper, and thorough revision is necessary after writing an article, composition, story, and novel. It cannot be neglected.

If a revision is done in tandem along with editing then it will lead to confusion and many mistakes will not come forth. They will be overlooked.

This will not go down well with the readers who will get distracted. They won’t find interest in the creation and leave it midway.

One should always bear in mind that creative, and engaging context must be used while writing any topic. Such ideas will keep the readers engaged from start to finish.
