Jem Halloween Costume Idea

Tawnya grew up in the 1980s and was and always will be a fan of Jem.

What 80s Girl Didn't Want to be Jem?

Growing up in the 80s, I had a lot of fun female heroines including She-Ra, Rainbow Bright, Punky Brewster, and Blossom. One of my favorite characters/heroines was Jem/Jerrica Benton. For her day job, Jerrica Benton was a foster mother and CEO of a very successful music company. Jerrica's alter ego was Jem, a rockstar diva that crooned all over the world with her band the Holograms. To make switching lives easy, Jem wore magical star earrings that made her switch from Jerrica to Jem simply and easy to do.

Jem Movie is Coming

Recently, the Internet has been a buzz about the fact that there is a Jem live action movie in the works. This excitement had me reminiscing about how much I loved Jem as a kid. So, in honor of the live action movie, I will be dressing as Jem for Halloween this year. I am going to try and talk my 10-year-old in to dressing as Aja (Jem's bandmate), but she's more of a Katy Perry kind of kid.

Complete the Look with Jem Accessories

This Jem Halloween costume comes with Jem's signature pink dress and flashy silver belt. I plan on adding a bright pink wig (think big 80's hair), bright pink pumps, and some fishnet stockings. If I can find them I may also add fishnet gloves, and a glittery microphone to carry around. To create the perfect Jem costume, you have to have the pink make-up and magical star earrings. If I attend any parties with people who grew up in the 90s, they probably will have no idea who I am, but after the movie hits theaters, I will be a trendsetter.

@aesta1: Thanks, she is one of my favorites from the 80s.

You have definitely sold Jem to me. That would really be outrageous.
