Cake and Cupcake Decorating Supplies
Horse Theme Birthday Party
I had a Horse Theme Birthday party for my daughter's 8th Birthday. It was great! This page will all include all of the party details, photos and supplies to throw an amazing celebration for your child!
Some of the supplies featured on this page include personalized invitations, unique favors, tableware, party games, crafts, pinatas, birthday banners, cake & cupcake supplies and more.
There is a large assortment of theme invitations on the market you can incorporate into you child's celebration.
Party Supplies & Decorations
My daughter chose the Horse and Pony party supplies for her birthday celebration. Once we purchased the party pack, we coordinated all of the other items around the colors/theme.
The party pack came complete with cups, plates, tablecloth, napkins, balloons, candles, ribbon, streamers, invitations, and more.
Plus, there are many other items you can add-on to your party pack including a pinata, party favors, and personalized birthday banner.
There are also Pony Party supplies which feature gorgeous horses galloping in a meadow with a bright blue sky in the background. This would make a nice choice, too! The items available with this pack include plates, cups, napkins, table cover, balloon bouquets and and a nice selection of personalized supplies.
Our Party Decorations
The color theme of the party was red, white and blue to coordinate with the Horse party pack.
We used all of the streamers and balloons that came with pack. My daughter was really into the Pony Pals book series during this time and had the entire collection. We put all of these books around the room to add to the horse theme. (you can see them in the photo going up the stairs!)
We also set up her horse stable and all of her horses.
Jumbo Sized Balloons
We made wonderful cupcakes and arranged them in a fun Cupcake stand. I decorated them with Western theme edible sugar decorations and red, white, and blue stars. The sugar decorations designs included a horse head, horseshoe and western cowboy hat.
Our Party Favors
I made cute lollipop favors for the party. I purchased FDA approved clear bags and filled them with Teddy Graham cookies and then put a chocolate lollipop in the bag and tied it with red, white and blue curling ribbon.
The lollipops with cookies were placed in a silver tin favor pail and embellished with a personalized favor tag as well as a small horseshoe charm. They came out wonderful!
Thank You Sticker
Party Favor Stickers
There is a large selection of party favor stickers you could use to embellish your party favor bags and/or boxes.
You can choose from a variety of styles and sizes.
Make Your Own Chocolates and Cookies
I made star shaped sugar cookies and horse jello jigglers. For some reason I didn't take pictures of them.
The star shaped cookies were made using the cookie cutter below. The cookies were decorated red, blue and white and topped with red, white & blue sprinkles.
Keeping with the color theme, I used cherry and blueberry jello for the Jigglers. The kids loved these fun jello jigglers shaped like a horse. They were a big hit.
More Favor Ideas
There are many theme party favors on the market including:
- Mini basketballs
- Sticker Rolls
- Foam Horse Stickers
- Vinyl figures
- Bounce Balls
- Inflatable Horses
- Stationery Sets
Toss the Horse:
I found a large basket and my daughter collected all of her horse stuffed animals/beanies. Most of them were small to medium in size. The kids took turns tossing the horses into the basket! HorseshoesSince this was in indoor party (November!), I purchased a foam horseshoe game that can be played indoors. The kids had lots of fun with it.
I had a large party (20 kids) so I divided the kids into five groups and they played Horse Bingo. Kids are so competitive and they had a great time with the game.
I purchased a Horse Games & Puzzles book and selected a few fun puzzles.(find a word, etc.) I tore out the sheets and printed copies for everyone. I figured I would keep these incase we had some extra time. With 20 kids in my house, we had to keep them busy! We'll, the kids were getting somewhat crazy near the end of the party, so I handed out one of the puzzles. I have never seen a group of kids quiet down so quickly! It was amazing. They were all intently working on their puzzles trying to be the one to finish first and win a prize.
The kids decorated wooden horseshoes for the party craft. As soon as the kids arrived, they painted their horseshoes. Then, we put them aside to dry and did some games and ate lunch.
After the horseshoes were dry, the kids decorated them with rhinestones and stickers. They came out great!
Please note: The actualcraft kit I used for this party is no longer available. The wood horseshoes I have listed above are not as thick, but they would work just as well. And since these are thinner, you could actually create a magnet with them by attaching a magnet strip on the back.
A fun visit from a friend!
My daughter's takes riding lessons and the farm she attends is right down the road from us. We arranged for her instructor to come by our house with the horse she rides near the end of the party for a visit.
We didn't know if he would be able to make it or not since he had a show to do that day, so we did not even tell me daughter he may be coming. So, when he showed up she was surprised and thrilled and so were to party guests!
Thank you for stopping by!

Last year, my son had a horse theme party at a farm. The farm where he takes riding lessons. The kids had a wonderful time. I had each child decorate a wooden picture frame and they also added a horse and horseshoe to the frame. Then, all the kids proceeded for pony/horse rides. While they were riding I took a poloroid picture which went into their picture frames that they decorated. Afterward, they went on hayride. Everything from the invitation to the party gifts were with the horse theme. I made the party bags. The parents also received a leather key chain saddle that I had especially made. The parents had a great time. This year my son once again wants another horse party at the farm. Now I am looking to get other ideas.
