Hawaiian Tropical Flowers - Several Options For Your Flower Needs
Hawaiian flowers are some of the most beautiful flowers in the world. So then, it is no wonder they are often used for gift giving and at parties. An exotic flower is one of the gifts that women appreciate more than anything.
When it comes to beauty, there are many Hawaii grown flowers that will say more than words could ever express. They are very unique and when put together correctly with different varieties will make an occasion even more special.
When ordered, leis and flower arrangements are hand tailored to your needs and made with the greatest quality and care. They arrive from one of the several islands usually by express service for your comfort and convenience. They're kept in specially made containers and include care instructions.
Here are some examples.
Bird of Paradise
The Bird of Paradise is a flower that is unmistakable. They have either a blue flower or an orange one. What might look as if there is some type of exotic bird hiding behind the leaves is what gives this plant its name. The plants are great for house plants and are often given for special occasions.
One of the things that make them so popular as a house plant is they seem to bloom more when they are potted. They can stay in the same pot for a long time as they really do not need repotting unless the roots gets so large they break the pot.
Since it is such a dramatic plant, they are preferred as gifts for the ladies. In addition, they are often cut and used in flower arrangements by hawaiian florists. One of the great Hawaiian arrangements using the Bird of Paradise is a spring arrangement. It is mixed with ginger plants and Anthuriums.
The orchid meets the criteria of being one of the most exotic looking flowers. Did you know the family of orchids is the largest of all plant families on earth when it comes to flowering plants? There are over 22,000 species of orchids, however out of all of these only a few are actually native of Hawaii.
The orchid can be grown indoors and is often given as anniversary, birthday or gifts for other special occasions. Used at weddings as well, one great idea is to put them inside a conch shell and use them as part of the decorations. This is a lovely tropical theme and use for orchids and is even better if the affair is outdoors.
Anthuriums are a tropical plant and are known for their bright, beautiful flowers. They have also been called flamingo flower, painted tongue and tail flowers. The heart shaped red flower that anthuriums have is actually not a flower. The real flowers are tiny and grow near the base of the plant while the red flower is really a leaf.
The anthurium is available in many different varieties including the hanging basket type. They are not hard to grow but caution should be used around animals and young children. Every part of this plant is poisonous and even the sap from inside the plant can cause skin irritation.
This beautiful flower for gift giving or purchasing for yourself is also known as the Lei flower. It is a tropical flower and in these conditions can grow as tall as 40'. They are often used for landscaping once they become too large for pots. They do make great potted plants for indoors however.
The plumeria is used for making leis and with the aromas they provide in the early summer right on through early fall; they make wonderful flowers for this. They produce clusters of flowers that are beautiful and if cut will last for several days in water. The plumeria will bloom for as much as 3 months and will have new blooms on a daily basis. The colors include red, pink, yellow, white and many pale variations.
When it comes to color, Ginger is one of the most colorful of all flowers. The word might make you think of oriental flavorings for food but the type of ginger you consume is one amongst many. There are about 1300 species and the beauty of this type of flower is enjoyed by many when given as gifts for any occasion.
Costus is a spiral ginger that wraps itself around stalks that resemble the stalks of bamboo. This variety can have a bract shape, almost pineapple like, from which the flowers appear. There are varieties that have almost a velvet feel to the back of the leaves and others have a purple, smooth back.
They are great for using as container plants which makes them a perfect gift. This plant is quite an enduring plant and will fare quite well unless it is below freezing. They are also quite beautiful in gardens.
Flower Lovers are Partial to Hawaiian Flowers
Ask anyone who loves flowers what they think is the most exotic flower they know. They will tell you to give them a few minutes. Then they will say tropical flowers. The orchid is one that many claim as a favorite. The exotic look it portrays just has a certain something that makes it a popular flower. If you really want to make someone's day, give them the gift of flowers.
Plumerias are known best for their use in making leis. The clumps of these flowers mixed with other showy flowers make gorgeous leis. They are very fragrant as well and the combination makes one think of summer breezes and warm tropical nights. Leis are made with the plumeria as well as orchids, jasmine and ferns. This is a traditional feature of hula dancers.
In Hawaii, the lei is given at birthdays, graduation, retirement parties, weddings and bridal showers. Any occasion that calls for flowers can be an occasion for giving a lei. The lei should never be thrown away. If it is not possible to return them to where the flowers originated, the next best thing is to hang it in a tree or bury it so the flowers can return to the earth.
Whereas the poinsettia is given at Christmas, Hawaiian flowers can be given any time of the year. For birthdays, anniversaries, Valentine's Day, Easter, graduation - from high school or college- and virtually any occasion where flowers would be an appropriate gift is fine for giving exotic and beautiful Hawaiian flowers. There's usually a two day delivery time from Hawaii to the mainland so you'll have to keep that in mind when placing an order.

Thanks so much!
