I Say Yes To Dog Breed Ornaments
Dog breed ornaments are at the top of my Christmas ornament list. I have so many different breeds in my family and arena of friends, that I need lots of doggie decorations for the December holidays. Check out the list of breeds I am searching for:
- White German Shepherd
- Alaskan Husky/Greyhound Mix - she looks like a greyhound
- Australian Cattle Dog/Australian Shepherd Mix
- American Staffordshire Terrier
- Hound Mix
And that's just the beginning. Those are my dogs or my grand-dogs. Next on my breed ornament list are my friends dogs. If you are looking for a small gift for friends and you know they have a dog, get them a breed related gift. Any dog lover would enjoy getting an ornament, mug, or T-shirt with their favorite breed on it. I know I would. There are plenty of other great gift ideas and I will add a list of them at the bottom of this page. The reasons for the list are to help you find a great gift and simply because I love to make lists.
My White German Shepherd, Farro, is a huge dog. He weighs 100 pounds and he is pretty scary to look at. But he is the sweetest boy ever, he loves everyone. He likes to herd the other dogs, it looks to me like he wants to be a policeman when he becomes human. If you've ever seen the movie, Racing in the Rain, you know what I mean.
This dog's image, and fur, is all over my house. I have him on salt and pepper shakers, I have him on my checks, I have him in a crystal, and in an oil painting. I love everything White Shepherd, so you know my tree is covered with this breed.
He is a shedder and somedays it looks like tumbleweed city inside my home. It's worth every time I have to vacuum or sweep, which is often.
Another soft and sweet dog, Lucy, is a champagne and white Alaskan Husky/Greyhound mix. Not a combination of breeds you come across everyday. She looks just like a greyhound with that long, beautiful face and a muscular, sleek body. Long legs that can run forever.
Lucy is a sight hound and when she gets a target in her sight, look out and hold on to that leash. She is so focused on the prey. We don't let her off the leash because she would be gone. I'd never be able to keep up with her.
Our Australian Shepherd is a mix of shepherd and cattle dog. This guy is a gentle soul, and a very loud bark. He doesn't bark often, but when he does, everyone listens. His name is Raider.
He loves to practice for agility trials and has the energy of 5 dogs. But let me tell you, when he falls asleep, he is out to the world. If you or any of your friends have this breed mix or the pedigree of either of the combo, there are many different ornaments you can find to decorate yours or their tree this year.
Yes, Roxy Girl is a living angel! She is also a bit older so she sleeps a lot and on Halloween we do put wings on her, so this ornament is perfect for her. When you start looking at dog breed ornaments you are going to begin to see certain traits that your dog has, in those ornaments. The more ornaments you check out, the more noticeable those traits will become.
You can also have personalized ornaments made. Yes, you can have a name put on them or you can have a picture of your dog put onto an ornament. It's like having your kids photograph, it will thrill you. Or that special friend you are getting a gift for.
Boxadoodle is our Boxer dog and she is the funniest of the entire group. We call her BOXA for short. She prances and stands on her back legs swinging her front paws around. She is actually boxing. Thank goodness she's a lover and not a fighter, because I think we would loose that battle.
She loves to chase the ball but doesn't always like to give it back to you. So we always make sure to have a couple balls around so we can play with her. Look what a pretty Christmas tree ornament she makes.
Bells is the shortest of the group and she makes a beautiful ornament, don't you agree? Dachshunds don't know they are short. Bells is just one of the gang as far as she is concerned. She doesn't even notice the size of her pack brothers and sisters. I guess what she lacks in height, she makes up for in length.
I love how dogs don't pay attention to appearance. How much we can learn from them. They can teach us so much about what is important in life.
Lady Luna is the newest member of the family. She is a little hound beagle looking mix. She is quiet, pretty relaxed for a puppy, and smart as a whip. She is a good smart. She doesn't get into the puppy mischief that some smart pups get into and we are totally grateful for that. Lady makes a beautiful ornament too and she was the new ornament we had to order this Christmas season.
We chose the watercolor ornament for her because she is such a lady. Soft, sweet, gentle, and this looks just lovely.
