Halloween Decorating Is Good Family Fun!

Decorating For Halloween Is Always A Blast!

I have always loved Halloween and everything involved with it, the costumes, the costumes, and of course, the candy.

I am pretty short (5'2") so I got away with being able to trick or treat right up till I was 19, and loved every year of it!

I enjoy decorating our house up with all of the ghoulish things I can find, and every year I always seem to find something new to add to our décor. The kids get just as excited about decorating our home as I do (maybe even more so).

Silly, goofy, or spooky you select your Halloween decor theme.

Decorating tips are great fun for kids to and can be themed into a children's Halloween party.

If it is ideal for your home then it just might be perfect for the homes of your friends too.

Pick a simple Halloween craft that will only take a few minutes to make.

Have enough supplies for each party guest to make at least two crafts.

(Sometimes one will get messed up, this ensures everyone has at least one to take home.)

After the kids have run around, played a few games and you want them to cool down before cake and ice cream, sit them all at a large table to craft. Kids love to be creative and they will have something cute they made to take home to mom and dad.

Then when they are all done crafting, it's time for cake & ice cream and mom & dad to pick them up!

Speaking of faces peeking in the window. Muah ha ha ha ha ha!

Decorating OutSide

Go Crazy or Keep It Simple?

Small children are happy with a few simple Halloween decorations. It seems as the kids get bigger, so does the want for bigger and spookier Halloween displays at the house.

We always had a carved pumpkin or two at our home with a lit candle inside. Carving pumpkins was always a fun project. My dad liked to design and supervise the pumpkin carving.

Today you can still do that or you can buy an artificial pumpkin with a small light bulb inside. It's actually good to keep one of these on hand in case you can't get to the pumpkin carving. It's also not messy like carving a pumpkin and you can put it away and pull it out again next year.

A little spot to rest in peace.

Funny fantasy lighting or spooky lights are perfect for Halloween decorating

The big kids like the scary music, the black lights and the moving scary Halloween displays. There are tons of these things to buy now.

We also got a kick out of the houses that would make a big maze from sheets hanging in their yard, usually a carport would be where they would do this. The kids that were too big to trick or treat would jump out and Boo! to scare the kids. There was usually an adult at the end giving out candy and watching to be sure those big kids don't get carried away!

Today I can still remember this one lady dressed in a witches costume, she had a small plastic cauldron and a bunch of peeled grapes in it. She told us we had to put our hand in the eyeballs before we could get a candy! It was creepy fun and made some great fun childhood memories.

They also have cute orange Halloween lights similar to Christmas lights that you can string through your bushes or on your house.

A few natural elements can be a little wild too.

When I was a kid, one of my favorite things to do was to decorate for Halloween. We seemed to have quite a few school projects for arts and crafts making Halloween decorations. I would take my creations and tape them to the windows of the house. My parents were proud and had fun showing them off. Then my mother had lots of paper, crayons and paint available for me to use, so I did my own crafts at home too.

I would draw Halloween Pumpkins, actually Jack-O-Lanterns was what we called them, bats, black Halloween cats and witches.

Once we made lots of spiders. We got a lump of plaster of paris, 4 pipe cleaners and fashioned a spider by lining up the 4 pipe cleaners and wrapping the lump of plaster of paris around them. Once the plaster set, you could bend the pipe cleaners into leg shapes with bent little feet on the end and paint the spider body. I hung them from strings in my house in front of the windows.

Another fun thing to do was make tiny ghosts out of kleenex. We balled up one kleenex, covered it with another one and put a rubber band around it. Then we drew a little face on them and hung them on strings along with our spiders.

Now as much fun as these ghosts were, we ended up using up all the kleenex in the house and then played toss the ghost outside with a bunch of them stuck in our tree out front. Needless to say, my mother was not so happy with the ghost project.

My wife absolutely LOVES to decorate for Halloween. I think it's like a second Christmas to her or something lol. She usually stays home and hands out the treats to the little ghouls that come around, and I take our children out around trick or treating (that way I get some candy too hee hee).

My daughter keeps lots of craft paper and crayons on hand all the time. She has three children under the age of 8, and there is nothing she loves more than having their designs hanging in the windows during any holiday.

Enjoyed this lens! Lots of cool products and ideas. I got a chuckle out of the witch riding a flying motorcycle. I dress up in a costume to answer the door and pass out candy.
