Holiday & Events: Weddings, Birthdays, Christmas, Halloween, 4th of July, and a couple of silly days that should be officially off.
How to Celebrate National Goof Off Day...
... or International Goofing Off Day. It sounds like an official holiday, doesn't it? I think it may be the addition of the "national" part of the title. It gives the day a little more credence, doesn't it? Well, it's not an official or federal day off from work or school... yet.
There are 2 options regarding the approach to this should-be holiday:
1... Plan activities to do for the day, but don't go to work (um... I will not say school).
2... Don't plan something. Just goof off doing things you don't usually have time for.
The latter is the approach we will review here.
It takes a lot of planning to not make plans. It's easier to plan than it is to NOT plan, but let's give it a try.
Origins of National Goof Off Day
Well, according to Holiday Insights, the origin of "National Goof-Off Day" is unknown, but strongly hints that Nintendo might have planted the seed.
Video games are one of the activities for many who celebrate this take-it-easy, and well earned, holiday.
Sounds good to me. :)

How to Organize Party Planning for Goofing Off Day
That's the whole point. Just take it easy and do some relaxing.
Watch a TV Marathon of your favorite series.
Read a series of books you've been meaning to get to. And not the tablet kind lest ye be tempted to communicate outside your immediate area.
Doodle all day long.
And keep celebrating by gifting yourself with a least 1 half hour of goofing off a day.
Tell your spouse, kids, or parents, it's Doctor recommended for your continued health.
They might even believe it.

Comfort is the whole idea. In short, whatever puts you and keeps you, in the Goof off frame of mind.
Sweat suit or track suit.
Flannel or footie jammies.

... try asking the boss if you can have a pajama or dress down day on March 22.
The worst case scenario? The boss says no.
Best case? You co-workers will love you and the day may be more productive for all.

If You Know You Can't Help Yourself from Doing Something with, or for, Someone...
Be ruthless and cut off Communications
Turn off the cell phone, ignore your email and turn down your house phone.
You can always pick up your messages later.
Note: If you have children, or a spouse who is not participating in the Holiday, have them use an Emergency code to reach you on your house phone 'cuz you are not running after it. 2 rings and hang-up, then call back after 1 minute so you can make your way leisurely to the handset. Threaten them the first time they use this code without good reason. Like they won't share in the pizza for dinner you are, not planning, but having.

Cats have relaxing down. Part of the success is partying all night long with anything that will move at night. Or anything THEY can move. Whatever entertains them... and keeps you up.
All Hail to the King of Slackers.... Garfield!
I Propose National Slacker Day Should Come Right Before or After National Goof Off Day
And this holiday will be Celebrated on whichever day makes a long weekend, whatever the weekday. Oh, and we should eat Lasagne for our celebratory meal.
In honor of this holiday, every house cat should be temporarily renamed Garfield. No matter what you call them... they won't come to you anyway. So why not? 99% of our feline friends already celebrate this holiday on a daily basis.
