Aurora's Blue Dress is Better than the Pink
Are you tired of your daughter begging to wear her pink Sleeping Beauty costume? I know when my daughter was smaller, I would have to hide her Disney Princess costumes, if I wanted her to wear real clothes and during the Disney Princess stage, Sleeping Beauty, or Aurora Rose as my daughter insisted on calling her, was always one of her favorites.
If so, you will be glad to know that there is a new Disney Sleeping Beauty costume inspired by the box office hit Maleficent. When I first watched the movie, I was shocked that "Beastie's" dress wasn't pink. However, since Tim Burton was involved, I wasn't surprised that Disney and Burton had decided to make such a bold change. In fact, it was only the first in several twists that left me feeling this way, and I imagine everyone else that watched the movie was on the edge of their set too.
Blue is much Less Princess than Pink
In the movie, Maleficent, Aurora (Sleeping Beauty's real name) wears a beautiful blue gown. Unlike the original fairytale, we never see Aurora in a pink dress at all. Since Aurora doesn't know she is a princess in the movie Maleficent, the dress doesn't rival that of a princess. Instead, it's a beautiful dress that will let any little girl's imagination run wild.
Aurora has Two Gowns in Maleficent
Personally, I prefer the new blue Sleeping Beauty dress over the traditional pink one. It may just be because it is something new, but I think the blue dress will replace the pink gown little girls have grown to love and associate with one of Disney's most famous royalty. The only gown that may compete with the new blue Aurora gown is the christening gown worn by Aurora in the movie Maleficent.
This gown is far more princess than the blue gown and is sure to make any little girl feel like she will be a queen someday. If you are thinking about gifting a little girl in your life with the Maleficent-inspired Aurora gown, don't forget the accessories. After all, it's usually the accessories that little girls love most when playing dress-up.

A princess must have more than one outfit so I would think going from pink to blue would certainly be quite fine.

I haven't watched this movie yet, but do remember the days that my daughter loved pretending to be a mermaid.
