When God called you home, it was a difficult time for us on earth, but heaven welcomed you there.
Many people say that the first thing they want to do when they arrive in heaven is see all their friends and loved ones who have died.
Some wonder if they celebrate birthdays in heaven by asking, “Are there birthday celebrations in heaven?”
Jesus welcomes you home
When a loved one dies, we grieve.
On monumental anniversaries, such as birthdays, we grieve once again.
On those special occasions, we may light a candle in their honor. We reflect on the memories and we mourn over their passing.
We imagine them celebrating their birthday with the King.
We envision them enjoying life in heaven with other loved ones. We may even picture them having cake and listening to others sing Happy Birthday .
On earth, we may release a balloon in their honor. We may open a photo album and gaze upon the memory of their face.
We may celebrate our loved one’s birthday by listening to one of their favorite songs or watching a home movie.
We hold them close with the precious memories of the life we once shared.
Birthday Celebrations in Heaven
The Bible only refers to birthdays on a few occasions.
For example, when referring to Pharaoh’s birthday in Genesis 40:20 there was a feast. Again in Job 1:4, the Bible mentions holding feasts on birthdays. It does not mention birthday celebrations in heaven.
However, for those who’ve passed on before us, we yearn to celebrate with them on their birthday.
Being able to see our loved ones is a glorious facet of heaven, but heaven is far more about God, and far less about us.
The Bible does say there are celebrations in heaven. There is rejoicing found in Luke 15:10, “In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
When God called you home, it was time. It was not about our timing. If that were true, we would never have let you go. When God called you home, it was the right time. It was your time to be born in heaven.
Native American Quote
“When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced.
Live your life so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice."
Happy Birthday in Heaven
On the day we celebrate your birthday on earth, we thank God for you were born.
Today, we miss you terribly. We grieve in the presence of friends and family who cherished you. We celebrate your life, even in death.
On these commemorative events when you should be here with us, allowing us to give you birthday presents, we miss you even more.
Butterfly on Red Rose
In eternity, there will be plenty of time to see, know, and spend time with our friends and family members.
However, that will not be our primary focus in heaven. We will be far more occupied with worshipping God and enjoying the wonders of heaven.
Our reunions with loved ones are more likely to be filled with recounting the grace and glory of God in our lives, His wondrous love, and His mighty works.
We will rejoice all the more because we can praise and worship the Lord in the company of other believers, especially those we loved on earth.
If Roses Grow in Heaven Poem
If Roses grow in Heaven
Lord, please pick a bunch for me.
Place them in my Mother's arms
and tell her they're from me.
Tell her that I love her and miss her,
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for a while.
Because remembering her is easy,
I do it every day,
but there's an ache within my heart
that will never go away.
What is Heaven like?
For years people have asked the same question. What is heaven like?
In the New Testament, the word “heaven” is found 276 times.
Heaven is a real place. The book of Revelation describes Heaven in many ways.
Revelation 21:4 says, “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain; for the former things have passed away.”
The apostle John transcribed for us what he was honored to see. He tells us in Revelation 21:10-27, heaven is a great holy city filled with the presence of God.
Even with this knowledge, our heart aches in grief.
For we miss your smile, your laughter and your presence.
The love we shared remains within our hearts.
When God called you home
When God called you home, it was a birthday celebration in heaven.
For the angels rejoiced to welcome you. Your family and loved ones were there to greet you. Most of all, Jesus was waiting with an outstretch arm.
In His gracious mercy and love, He welcomed you home. It was the day you were born unto Heaven.
Note from Author: This article is dedicated to my mother. Happy Birthday Mom. I miss you and love you more than words can say.

The beauty of seeing Jesus face to face, oh how glorious it will be! I grieve with the loss of my mom’s best friend and the death of her childhood friend within the amount of three weeks. I grieve the loss of my Grandpa and my cousin, and my mom’s now grown up baby, who she miscarried. I grieve the loss of Stephanie Guzman, who battled cancer three different times, and on September 5th 2019, she passed into the arms of her Father. I’ve loss six people dear to me in this year of 2019, and now I want to be with my King, and hear “well done my good and faithful one, welcome to the place where you belong.”

This is beautiful!
It's still too painful for me to celebrate my late husband's birthday. It's going to be the fourth one this year. But I know that he's celebrating in Heaven daily.
Thank you for writing!

This is a beautiful hub about heaven, celebration and healing. I'm so sorry about the first birthday without your mom.
It's been three years since my husband passed and we celebrate his birthday with a campfire cause he made his peace with God in front of us during a campfire. He passed a week later after sitting in front of a campfire at his request.
Its been awhile since I've been on the hub, but circumstances have changed for me and I was able to come back. I hope all is well with you and am really glad to see you hear again! Kathi :O)
