What Valentines Day Means to the Young Today

Valentine’s day has always been associated with romantic love. But over the years it has been seen as love beyond romance. Many believe that it can be made meaningful by sharing with friends and family and doing what you love the most.

It also means celebration of the special bond shared with their children, parents, friends, pets, and even themselves. Their energies are focused, where their love is reciprocated. It is a time for parents to bond with their children by taking them on fun-filled outings on Valentine’s Day. It is an amazing feeling to spend the time with them on a day earmarked for love.

It is more about a thank you to your dad or a simile at your neighbour who took your mom to the hospital when she was ill. Valentine’s day for today’s youth is about spending time with those who they care for than any formal date with their girl or boyfriend.

Senior citizens try to reinvent the festival of love by indulging in activities that are close to their heart. Children plan taking their parents to their favorite destinations to break free from the monotony of everyday routine. For the singles it is invariably a day to celebrate with friends. We are seeing more and more youngsters fall prey to heart ailments. More so during the pandemic, cardiac problems have increased, especially among young people. Sharing Love

Today people celebrate love in all forms, they are passionate about their work, craft, hobbies et all. Sharing the joy with others is the spirit of Valentine’s Day. My friend who has been single for quite some time now says valentine’s day for her is all about bringing a smile back on someone’s face who is in need of some help. Most youngsters think so today.

This is a generation that has achieved a few goals early in life. Their minds are sensitive and their vision clear. For them the meaning of love is different. They are wiling to walk the extra mile to make someone else happy. Some youngsters in our area have planned a visit to the orphanage and give the children books, toys, chocolates and make their day a happy one for them.

Time for Some Self-Love

Love yourself is the new mantra which makes the concept of love more inclusive and encompassing. It is the right time to experience things solo on this day, for those who love themselves. It can be travelling to lesser explored places, buying new stuff for oneself or enjoying gourmet food, watching a movie solo. Many consider taking a backpacking vacation as the best gift you can give to yourself on valentine’s day.

Self -care is giving the world the best of you according to Katie Reed, a writer and speaker. True love begins with self-care, because if you don’t love yourself, you cannot love others. Some may be passionate about cooking or yoga, others about their work or hobbies. It’s all about self-acceptance and learning to embrace your faults. Having your me time is a way of prioritizing yourself over others. It is not a selfish thing to do but it is a way to recharge and rejuvenate yourself.

Many prefer the solitude when one gets the time to reflect or just relax read a long-pending book, and catch up on some sleep. Gifting yourself with something you have always wanted is another way of self-care. Engaging in self-care is known to reduce anxiety, depression and increase concentration and happiness.

If we want our species to survive, if we are to find meaning in life, if we want to save the world and every sentient being that inhabits it, love is the one and only answer.

— Albert Einstein

Love and the Universe

The world has been passing through a critical phase for the past two years because of the pandemic, that has afflicted the effluent and non-effluent alike. Albert Einstein would have believed that the cause of this untold misery on the inhabitants of this earth to be the failure of humanity to use and harness the various forces of the universe in the right direction.

Einstein realized through a flash of intuition that there was an extremely powerful force `that governed every phenomenon operating in the universe about which science could not find any formal explanation. This universal force, he said is love. The positive energy of love, he believed is so powerful that it has the capacity to heal the entire world. He explained that while trying to develop the unified theory of the universe, scientists completely overlooked the existence of this positive energy.

Love is the only reality and it is not a mere sentiment. It is the ultimate truth that lies at the heart of creation

— Rabindranath Tagore

According to Mata Amritanandmayi, love is like gravity and works like a magnet attracting people towards one another. It is power because it extinguishes blind selfishness and ensures that humanity is not governed by a narrow-minded attitude. God is love and love is God.

Those who live in tune with the attractive force of love, achieve harmony with nature and their fellow beings and are attract God. Pure love is nothing but the emptying of the mind of all fear. Suffering has made us realise the transitory nature of life on this earth. It is too precious to be fritted away by nurturing thoughts of hatred, `and ill-will among fellow human beings.
