Why I Choose Handmade Gifts

Handmade gifts are becoming more and more popular these days. Some people even sell handmade products in Ebay and Amazon in order to make extra cash during spare time or even as a full time job.

A handmade gift takes time and efforts to make a perfect gift for some one special to you. Many people learn to make handmade gifts by searching on internet for websites which provide quick and easy steps and photos to guide them. Most importantly, it, which I believe everyone is having a tight budget while hoping to give something that is unique and beautiful to your special person.

Benefits of making Handmade Gifts

As for me, I regard making handmade gifts as a well rewarding hobby since i could get most of my supplies and stationaries at home by recycling things which are going to discard also known as "trash" and reusing left over materials into beautiful gifts.

Imagine that you are giving a helping hand to save our planet Earth by reducing garbage and saving money in your pocket at the same time!

  • save money
  • recycle left-over papers
  • reuse stationary at home
  • use tooth picks as the stems
  • help to reduce trash
  • produce beautiful handmade gifts for love ones
  • long lasting gifts

I was sick and tired of buying $1 per piece of tissue paper for craft making. It was waste of money and expensive.

Luckily, I stumbled upon this tissue paper that comes in 4 pieces of each color. Imagine 100 pieces that could last me a few years of craft making paper flowers!

I love the variety of colors provided, from red, pink, orange to rainbow colors! In addition, the tissue paper isn't the same as tissue paper that we buy for wiping mouth. The papers do not wrinkle much, doesn't rip off easily and best for making paper flowers and Easter egg coloring too.

This was the BEST Buy I had ever purchased online!

What are the things I need to make Handmade Gifts

  • colorful construction papers- get as many different types of colors as your can in order to make colorful gifts for different projects
  • a bottle of white glue- I chose white glue instead of the normal school glue because white glue sticks firmly and a little glue does the magic.
  • Pencils - drawing the petals
  • a pair of sharp scissors- cutting out the petals, make sure the scissors is sharp.
  • toothpicks or kebab sticks - to make the flower stems. Alternatively, you can use tree branches if you can find any

Real flowers do not last long

paper flowers lost longer than real flowers, a memorable gift

paper flowers lost longer than real flowers, a memorable gift

  • · Last longer-

Fresh flowers could only last a few days and starts to wither, the petals dried up and fall off. Paper Rose Flowers could last all year, retain the shape and color without fading.

  • · Easy to maintain

- You need to change clean water for fresh flowers and a little sunlight. Paper Rose Flowers are easily kept in dry places. If the flowers are dustty, just brush off the dust with feather duster or simply blow off the dust.

  • · Cost Nothing

-You need to fork out money to buy fresh flowers. On special occasions such as Valentine's Day& Mother's Day, fresh flowers price hike up; double the normal price, high in demand which may result in flowers shortage. While Paper Rose Fllowers are free, you make them with left-over materials and recycle papers into beautiful gifts. You can make as many flowers as you like and save money at the same time.

  • · Useful for decoration

-Both fresh flowers and Paper Rose Flowers are useful in decoration for any occasion. Basket flower gifts, decorate flowers in vase on dining table, side table, prayer alter and bedroom.

Mommy love handmade gifts

How did I get the idea to make Paper Rose Flower

Frankly speaking, when I first saw my daughter brought home a handmade Paper Rose Flower , I thought that if a student could make such a beautiful craft, so can I.

She learnt the skill from her art teacher in school by using white A4 paper, painted the paper with watercolor, dried it under the sun and cut out the shapes. In order to shorten the preparation time, I decided to use left-over colorful construction papers which I had kept from my past craft projects. Indeed, the rest of the procedures are pasting and curling, as easy as a pie!

The joy of receiving handmade Paper Rose Flowers by your receipient is a feeling that money cannot buy. It brings sweet smile on her face, a sweet sentimental feelings and lasting memories in years to come. That is what she really wants.

In this article, I would like to share with you how I made a Paper Rose Flower for my mom on Mother's Day. You can give this unique gift to your special woman in your life this handmade Paper Rose Flower as a special gift for any occasion ; such as Valentine's Day, Women's Day, Parent's Day, National Grandparent's Day, Teacher's Day, Birthdays, Christmas and of course Mother's Day.

Do leave your comments what do you think of this gift or any problems you are facing when making this handmade gifts. I will be gladly to help. Happy Crafting !

  • Just snip a little in order to make a little hole.
  • Push in the stick until it shoots out of the paper flower.
  • Apply a little white glue around the tip of the stick.
  • Find a small piece of paper and wrap around the tip, forming a match stick head.
  • Allow it to dry for a couple of minutes.
  • Apply a little more glue at the "match stick head"
  • Pull back the stick , pull it towards you.
  • The "match stick head" will stick in the middle of the Paper Rose Flower. Do not pull it too hard. Otherwise it "head" will come off.
  • Apply a little white glue at the pointy end of the paper flower. Let it dry.
  • Your Paper Rose Flower is done! Make as many flower with different color papers. If you want shorter sticks, use a toothpick as the stem.

Getting free toothpicks from food outlets is one of the alternative way I could gather for my projects.

However, it doesn't seem nice to grab a handful after each meal.

So, I bought a box of wooden toothpicks for after meals, convenient when meats get stuck in between the teeth and for my artprojects , Rose paper flowers that I did for mon on Mothers Day.

These toothpicks are made well, smooth surface, a sharp pointed but it doesn't hurt the gums nor fingers.

When slipping the toothpick into the paper flowers, each toothpick has the just right lengths and the white glue managed to glue pick toothpick firmly.

I would definitely buy another box next month

yes indeed, handmade gifts are the most beautiful, cheapest and lasting

SweetiePie from Southern California, USA on March 19, 2015:

Handmade gifts are beautiful, and always appreciated by people like me. Also, I think our ideas about what gift giving has become over the top. Back in the day if kids got a couple of birthday gifts it was a big event, but now parents are scolded for not by the latest and best gadget. I think families who craft together make wonderful gifts together.
