Free Coloring Pages for Thanksgiving

Children love to color and in the 21st century, adults are coloring opening. So, here are several coloring pages that you can print and color whenever you like. I am seeing coloring events at shopping malls, churches, libraries, and coffee shops and they are becoming more popular every day.

Coloring is not as messy as cut-and-past activities. I remember in elementary school at Thanksgiving time, we made turkeys in the with a large potato, with colorful toothpicks for legs. For the feet, tail, wings, and head we used cutouts from colored papers. This was fun, but the paste spread everywhere and after two weeks, the turkeys really smelled bad.

It was in the first grade classroom that I learned what a rotten potato smelled like!I can smell it even now.

We had left the potato turkeys over the long Thanksgiving weekend and they did not look pretty when we returned. today, I would worry about wasting a potato.

Color Your Vegetables

The vegetables below make fun coloring objects and can help teach younger children about nutrition. All ages can enjoy the animated characters of onion, potato and carrot. They are all likely to appear on the dining room table for dinner on Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Since potatoes and opinions come in so many colors, children can experiment with their own ideas as they color.

Vegetables can be fun to color. We now know that carrots and tomatoes come in many bright colors. Even sweet potatoes come in different colors, including purple.

Winter Holiday Gift Giving Seasons

When Christmas and Kwanzaa rush onto your calendar just around the corner from Thanksgiving, they, along with other Fall and Winter Holidays, can be stressful and challenging. You may feel pressed to purchase the "right": gifts for adults and children in your life.

While it is admirable to abstain from inordinate consumerism, the following toy suggestions make useful as well as entertaining gifts for children.

You might be interested in the Classic Toy Museum.

Do you remember any of these? --

  • Colorforms - This set of colorful two-dimensional plastic cling items to use for making outdoor or indoor scenes, cartoons, and doll outfits has been a favorite of many children for a long time. While convalescing from pneumonia as a child in the hospital, the staff gave me a large set of Colorforms and a board on which to place them (they clung instantly, but came off easily). The artistic toy helped me forget that I was feeling sick and it was a big surprise for me that I was allowed to take it home when I was released.

Thanksgiving Decor of Natural Materials

During October in Canada and November in USA, we speak of Indian Corn, the number of different varieties of corn grown when the white settler met the Native North Americans for the first time.

Ears with kernels of many colors on the same cob are often wired together and hung on the front door of the home as a welcome during the Thanksgiving Season.

Add your own colors to this traditional Indian Corn.

The Old Time Candy Company

Candy from the early 20th century is also still distributed in Ohio at the Old Time Candy Company and is good for holiday gifts.

This corporation puts together gift packs for gift giving as well as individual orders. It's fun just to look at their online catalogue. I've never seen some of these candies before, but my parents, grandparents, and great grandparents surely enjoyed some of them.

They even have FIZZIES, the soft drink that comes in a tablet like Alka-Seltzer!

It does! More and more adults are admitting they like to color, too. It's fun.

Ha ha!

When kids ask me how old I am I say 200! When they look at me funny and say that I cannot be that old, I say, "Well, closer than YOU!" Try it with a child sometime!

I love coloring too.
