No pun intended...OK, so maybe it was intended. I have put off finishing this series on strange holidays, but it's about time I got to it. I started this several years ago, and never thought it would take me so long to cover all of the months of the year. As usual, time gets away from you, and before you know it, it's been a few years. Well, I got on it, and have for your amusement (or perhaps just my own), the strange and amusing holidays that fall in the month of March. I hope you find something interesting that you can celebrate! St. Patrick's Day is great, but if many of you are like me, by the time March rolls around, you are looking for something to distract you from the fact that summer is still so far away. Find a holiday to celebrate and banish the dreary feelings as you wait for spring and summer to finally show up.

March is a Month For...

March is full of monthly observances deserving of attention. I'm not even kidding. Usually I get a few monthly observances, but I found so many, that I had to narrow them down to only the best of the bunch. Check these interesting monthly celebrations, and maybe pick out one or two to celebrate!

• Adopt a Rescued Guinea Pig Month: I wasn't aware that you could adopt a rescued guinea pig, so I guess I learned something. I have known people who have had guinea pigs, and I don't think I would want one, but that's just me. At least I don't live in a country that eats them.
• Bell Pepper and Broccoli Month: I guess they weren't special enough to get their own month, so they had to share. Kids hate bell peppers and broccoli!! This holiday may be difficult to celebrate if you do happen to have kids, like me. My husband even hates broccoli. Maybe try sneaking these healthy veggies into foods they love, or cover them in cheese! Kids love cheese!!
• Berries and Cherries Month: Now this is a month the kids would enjoy a lot more than bell peppers and broccoli! Make up some delicious berry smoothies, or some yummy cherry pie! Mmmm...I love pie! I would suggest going berry picking, but March isn't really the best time for that, unless you live down here. Maybe I will go pick strawberries this March!
• Exotic Winter Fruit and Leeks & Green Onions Month: Well, that is so long, it took most of the month just to write it! The leeks and green onions I get. They are closely related, but what the heck is an exotic winter fruit? I have no idea. Maybe spend part of March researching exotic winter fruits, and learn different ways to use them.
• Humorists Are Artists Month: Why not? There are some people out there that call themselves artists that have no right to do so! Honor your favorite humorist this month!! Send them a letter or message, read some of their work, or just share you feelings about them. Maybe you could write about your favorite humorist.
• International Listening Awareness Month: I know a lot of people who need to be more aware of their listening skills. Are you aware of listening? Are you aware of whether others are listening to you? Are you aware that you don't always listen? Wait...what were you saying? I wasn't paying attention.
• National Caffeine Awareness Month: So, we have to not only be aware of listening, but also caffeine? I am very aware of caffeine, and the fact that my life would be less fun without it. Maybe this should be a caffeine appreciation month instead of awareness. I am sure most of us are aware of caffeine, especially when we run out of it, or haven't had it yet!
• National Clean Up Your IRS Act Month: I feel that this monthly observance is all wrong! It should be "National Clean Up Your Act, IRS, Month". They are the ones that need to clean up their act. I am sure a lot of you would agree with that. Of course, that is not likely to happen. Silly me, for even thinking it. Nobody likes the IRS. I know people who work for the IRS and they don't even like it.
• Play The Recorder Month: Oh, joy...the recorder...the parent's nightmare instrument. I remember when I brought a recorder home. My mom made me practice outside. I don't blame her. It was February and freezing cold outside. I still don't blame her. I would have done the same thing. Please, for the sake of all that is good in the world, please stop playing this instrument. We need to abolish this, now!
• Mustache March: I'm not sure of the origins of this, but I think it has something to do with the Air Force. No matter the reason for the season, make sure you grow a nice mustache this month, even you, Aunt Ida. No bleaching for you this month! If you can't grown a mustache, buy a fake one and wear it with pride! Nobody said it had to be a real mustache, now did they?

What Are We Doing This Week?

Each week in the month of March brings something new and interesting. There are great weekly observances to keep you entertained all month long. Some of these are interesting, some are kind of funny, and some are just plain silly. I even found a few that all of us writers can take an interest in! Yay for us!!

• National Ghostwriters Week (1-7): Do you have someone who ghostwrites for you? Do you ghostwrite for someone else? This is the week to honor all the ghostwriters out there. Or, are you maybe a ghost who writes? That would be kind of creepy, but if it works for you, who am I to judge?
• National Write a Letter of Appreciation Week (1-7): Maybe write a letter of appreciation for your ghostwriter, or have them write it for you. Take some time this week to write a letter to someone in your life, letting them know how much you appreciate everything they do for you! Here is my letter: Q.
• Universal Human Beings Week (1-7): This is not a national holiday, or even an international holiday...it's universal!! So, let's celebrate all the human beings all over the universe. Ummm...I'm pretty sure that's just us. Maybe all the aliens celebrate us, as well this week. Thanks, aliens!!!
• Celebrate Your Name Week (2-8): Some people just don't like their name, but if you do, this is the week to celebrate it!! Wear your name on everything. Get one of those tacky necklaces with your name on it, check out some souvenir shops for coffee mugs, shot glasses, keychains, etc with your name on it. Sport a stylish nametag even if your job doesn't call for one. Let everyone know that you love your name!
• National Sleep Awareness Week (2-8): I am pretty sure everyone is aware of sleep. I know I am. I am even more aware of sleep when I don't get enough of it. That happens a lot. I am very aware of it. I don't think we need this week, now do we? I'm gonna go take a nap now...talk to you later.
• National Words Matter Week (2-8): I agree! Words do matter! It could be a kind word to a friend who is feeling down, or a harsh word to someone who has upset you. No matter what words you use, those words matter. Especially all the words on this page...they all matter!! Trust me on this one!
• Read an E-Book Week (2-8): This is probably a more recently invented celebration, but one I can get behind! I love to read! I love the Kindle my hubby got me for Christmas a couple years ago! It is the best gift he could of got me. Of course, when I got it, I had to be reminded of the Stephen King story, Ur, where a guy gets a strange colored Kindle that does some strange things. It's a good story. Anyway, read an e-book this week, maybe read Ur...
• Return the Borrowed Books Week (2-8): Wow, what a busy week!! Well, since you are reading an e-book this week, maybe you can return the books you borrowed from the library, your sister, or whoever. I am sure they will appreciate getting their books back, maybe enough to write you a letter. I don't like to lend out books. Last time I did, I got one of them back all chewed up by my friend's dog, and the other one was a little chewed up and missing the dust jacket. They were both first edition Stephen King books. Please, return the books you borrow, and keep them in nice shape!
• Festival of Owls Week (7-9): Um, that's not a whole week, but whatever. I know a lot of people who would be excited by this event! Even if it isn't a whole week. I think the owls deserve a whole week! I love owls. Unless they are living outside my back porch. That got a little scary a time or two when they thought I was disturbing their nest.
• National Procrastination Week (8-14): You know what? I will get to this one later. I have time. I will get back to it in a day or two.
• International Brain Awareness Week (10-16): Are you aware that you have a brain? I guess that's it, then! Though, I do know some people who should be made aware of their lack of brains. I call them Democrats, but why label things if we don't have to.
• Termite Awareness Week (16-22): I hate termites!! I am well aware of them. I am sure most people are. They are terrible pests that destroy people's homes. We all need to be aware of them. More than that, we need to be aware of how to keep them away from our homes.
• Act Happy Week (17-23): Well, if you can't be happy, I guess you can at least act happy. I would rather have a 'Be Happy Week'. Why act happy when you can be happy? Isn't that so much better? I guess you can spend the week pretending to be happy that you have to go to work, or wash dishes, or all those other things no one likes doing.
• Tsunami Awareness Week (23-29): There is so much to be aware of, that it's hard to keep all this awareness straight. A tsunami is a pretty big thing. I am pretty sure you would be aware of it. I know I would be.
• National Cleaning Week (23-29): For those that don't like to clean, this is not the week for you. Maybe spend some time cleaning this week. If this is the only week of the year that you clean, I guess it's better than nothing. Maybe I will clean everything in my house that week. Of course, it won't stay clean for more than a few hours, but it's something.
• Meat Free Week (24-30): I don't think I could go a whole week without meat. It's just not going to happen. Sorry. For those that are vegans, etc., this should be very easy. For most of us, though, I doubt it. Try going an entire week without meat. You can always eat some fast food, most of that isn't meat anyway.
• National Week of the Ocean (30-4/5): So, this one bleeds into April! So what? I love the ocean!! I love the beach! Head to the ocean this week. I know it's probably cold outside. Strange month to put in a week for the ocean, if you ask me. Maybe spend some time cleaning up the beach, because it's way too cold to go in the water!
• Root Canal Awareness Week (30-4/5): Ugh!!! No one likes root canals. Anyone who has had one, is well aware of them. They suck! That is all that really needs to be said about it! Am I right?

The monthly and weekly observances in March are interesting, but let's look at all the funny and strange holidays that have been set up for every day of the month of March. There are a lot of them. It seems the more of these I write, and the more time that goes by, the more of these I find. There are great things to celebrate every single day in March.

• 1st: National Horse Protection Day: I love horses! This day is a good idea. I think we should all protect horses. I especially think we should protect them from IKEA!
• 1st: National Peanut Lovers Day: This is not a day for peanuts! It's a day for the lovers of peanuts! Do you know someone who loves peanuts? Give them a nice can of peanuts to honor them today. Just don't use the joke can with the snakes in it. No one likes that.
• 1st: Pig Day: Yep, pig day. Who doesn't love pigs? I love bacon! Does that count? Watch Charlotte's Web, or maybe Babe. I know my daughter loves the show, Peppa Pig. It is kind of cute, in an annoying sort of way.
• 1st: Plan a Solo Vacation Day: This kind of sounds boring. Who wants to take a vacation by themselves? Well, maybe some people do. Plan your solo vacation, even if it's only in your head. I recently took a virtual vacation with my sister. That was kind of fun and silly. It's a long story.
• 2nd: Daughters' & Sons' Day: We have Mother's Day, Father's Day, and even Grandparent's Day, so why not Daughters' & Sons' Day? It seems fair. It would be more fair if those ungrateful kiddos would clean up after themselves...
• 2nd: Dr. Seuss Day: YAY!!! I love Dr. Seuss!! I read the books as a kid, and watched The Grinch every year at Christmas time. Share your love of Dr. Seuss with your kids today. A great way to celebrate both events!
• 2nd: Namesake Day: Were you named after someone? A relative? Someone famous? Honor your namesake today. It seems March is full of things relating to names. What is up with that?
• 2nd: Old Stuff Day: We all have old stuff. I know I do. Most of it is given to me by my mother-in-law. She routinely goes through her stuff and gives me the stuff she no longer wants. My hubby and I joke that eventually, we will end up with all of her stuff, and her house will be empty.
• 3rd: Fun Facts About Names Day: Again with the names! What is going on here? Oh well. Learn some interesting, or not so interesting, facts about your name, your kids' names, everyone's name. Are there any famous people with the same name as you? Is your name special? What does it mean?
• 3rd: I Want You to be Happy Day: Awww...that is very sweet! I want you to be happy, too. Thank you so much.
• 3rd: What if Cats & Dogs Had Opposable Thumbs Day: What?? Really?? Ummm...this is just too strange. It would be a scary place if cats and dogs had opposable thumbs. I think they would take over the world. Forget the zombie apocalypse. This would be way worse.
• 3rd: Princess Day: Every little girl wants to be a princess! I know I did. Of course, I also wanted to be Wonder Woman. Dreams come true, my butt. Dress up like a princess today. So what if Halloween was almost five months ago. Do it anyway.
• 4th: Courageous Follower Day: I always thought it would be more courageous to be a leader, than a follower, but I guess it takes a certain amount of courage to follow someone into uncharted territory. Like those horror movies, where the leader of the group says, "follow me.", and they all end up dead.
• 4th: International Scrap-booking Industry Day: This seems oddly specific. It's not a day for scrap-booking, but a day for the scrap-booking industry. So, the people who make those Cricket machines? Maybe Martha Stewart. I don't know.
• 4th: National Grammar Day: This is a day more people need to pay attention to. I am not the best when it comes to grammar, but at least I try. I know some people that use such terrible grammar, it makes me want to shake them and yell at them.
• 4th: Toy Soldier Day: I think that this day would be better celebrated near Christmas time. Think about it. Toy soldiers are a typical Christmas decoration. Buy some toy soldiers for your kids, grand-kids, etc. Maybe you could learn how to make your own.
• 4th: Unique Names Day: Again with the names??? Really? Isn't that enough? Anyway, celebrate those around you that have unique names. You know, the ones that could never find a key-chain, or other souvenir, with their name on it at any gift shop ever.
• 5th: Discover What Your Name Means Day: OK, this is getting ridiculous!! The day is pretty specific, and very clear. I think you know what you need to do. Please tell me that this was the last one.
• 5th: National Absinthe Day: Follow the Green Fairy today!! I don't condone the use of dangerous substances, so do so at your own risk. I have never tried it, but I don't think I will.
• 6th: Day of The Dude: This has to be in honor of 'The Dude' from the movie, The Big Lebowski. If not, it should be. He is an iconic character, from an iconic movie. Think like The Dude today. In other words, don't do much, and swear a lot.
• 6th: Name Tag Day: This has to be the last one!! Names...names...and more names! Busy month for names! My goodness! Wear a name tag today, whether your job calls for it or not! Heck, wear one even if you are home all day.
• 6th: Oreo Cookie Day: Yummy!!!! A whole day devoted to Oreo cookies!! This makes the kid in me smile! I haven't had Oreos in so long! Buy some Oreos today and make sure you share them with everyone you know!
• 7th: Cereal Day: I love cereal! I usually eat it late at night. I got that strange habit from my mom. Try out a new cereal today. Eat your favorite cereal for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Have your kids make cereal necklaces. They are a lot better for them than the candy necklaces.
• 7th: Middle Name Pride Day: I guess I was wrong...that wasn't the last one. I know a lot of people who hate their middle name. Most people have a fairly normal middle name, though. Either way, take pride in your middle name, no matter how ordinary or strange it is. Make people call you by your middle name today. Address everyone by their middle name.
• 7th: Dress In Blue Day: This one seems kind of interesting, I guess. Wear blue today! Wear lots and lots of blue. Don't just slap on a pair of jeans and call it a day. Go all out! Get a blue shirt, blue socks, blue shoes. Wear blue underwear, too. I know that no one will see it, but that's not the point.
• 8th: International Fanny Pack Day: Whoever invented this one is obviously a fashion victim. I hated fanny packs when they were in style, and I hate them today. I will admit that they were a useful idea, but so tacky, and so ugly!!!
• 8th: National Proofreading Day: Thanks to spell check and all that, you would think that this is not as necessary, but we all know that spell check isn't perfect. Go back and proofread your work. Check for those errors that spell check may have missed.
• 9th: Barbie Day: That lovable little toy that most girls adore has her own day. No matter your opinion of Barbie as an adult, I bet you had one as a kid! Granted, she is not remotely proportioned like a real human being, but then again, she is a toy, not a scale replica of a person. I loved Barbie as a child. Some of my fondest memories were of me and my best friend, playing Barbies at her house.
• 9th: Get Over it Day: You heard me; Get Over It! i don't know what 'it' is, but you should get over it. Seriously. Today is a day to let things go. Holding a grudge against a co-worker who gave you a hard time when you were new? Get over it!! Holding onto feelings for your first love, even though it was twenty years ago? Get over it!!
• 9th: Panic Day: You know how everyone is telling you, "now is not the time to panic"? Well, now is the time. You have the whole day to panic!! Panic about the coming zombie apocalypse, the current government "crisis", your upcoming reunion, whatever you want. Panic for all those times people told you not to panic.
• 10th: Fill Our Staplers Day: Every time someone mentions a stapler, I always think of the movie, Office Space. I can't help it. In honor of today, make sure to fill your staplers, and make sure no one takes it. That can lead to serious problems.
• 10th: International Day of Awesomeness: A day to be awesome, celebrate how awesome you are, how awesome others are, and everything that is awesome. I find this day very awesome! Bask in my awesomeness!!!
• 10th: Land Line Telephone Day: Who the heck has a land line anymore? This isn't the olden times. Everyone has cell phones now! I do remember my aunt's house when I was a kid. Not only did she have a land line, she also had a rotary phone. Those things were practically ancient when I was a kid. I guess that's like land lines today.
• 10th: Mario Day: Mario has been a part of my life since I was a kid!! I remember getting my first Nintendo system, and thinking it was the coolest thing ever! I played Super Mario Bros. for hours on end! Celebrate the iconic video game character today by playing some Mario, it doesn't matter which version, though I think the original was the best.
• 10th: Napping Day: Video games and napping in one day? It's a slacker's dream come true. I could use a nap right about now, so I guess I will see ya later!
• 11th: Johnny Appleseed Day: The guy with the pot on his head who went around planting apple seeds, gets his own day, and yet all the Presidents have to share a day. That hardly seems fair.
• 11th: World Plumbing Day: I am so glad I live in a country where indoor plumbing is the norm, instead of a luxury. I couldn't imagine living without it. It is something we take for granted, so make sure to appreciate indoor plumbing today. Thank a plumber!!
• 12th: Registered Dietitian Day: I have only ever known one dietitian. I guess today is the day to honor that person who is always telling you what you should and shouldn't eat. For me, that was my mom. She wasn't a dietitian.
• 12th: World Maths Day: Not just math, but MATHS. Why it's plural, I don't know. I think math would have been fine. I don't know anyone who really likes math. I was good at math, but that doesn't mean I liked it.
• 13th: Donald Duck Day: Today is the day to honor one of Mickey's best pals! The often incoherent duck who never wears pants is honored today. What are we teaching our children?
• 13th: Ken Day: Well, a few days ago, we had Barbie Day, so it's only fair that we have Ken Day as well. Oh, Ken...with his molded plastic hair, and perma-tan...Barbie could do better.
• 13th: National Open an Umbrella Indoors Day: I thought this was bad luck?? Is it not bad luck on this day? How is that possible? Not only is opening an umbrella indoors incredibly bad luck, the day is the 13th...the most unlucky number ever.
• 13th: Smart & Sexy Day: Do you find intelligence sexy? Do you know someone who is smart and sexy? I will give you a hint. It's me.OK, that was not really a hint. Celebrate all the smart and sexy people in your life. I suggest dinner.
• 13th: World Kidney Day: Please tell me this isn't the day where organ thieves band together, and steal people's kidneys. I don't want to wake up in a bathtub of ice.
• 14th: International Ask a Question Day: This is the one day to ask me anything you want. Anything at all. Of course, I don't promise to answer. It is ask a question day, not answer a question day.
• 14th: MOTH-ER Day: Um...I don't know what this is...is it for mothers? Moths? Moths who are mothers? Or maybe it's a day about ER's for moths???
• 14th: Pi Day: Not for the food. It is March 14th...3/14. Pi is 3.14....it's a long number and I'm not writing all that. Trick your friends and invite them over for pi!!!
• 14th: Save a Spider Day: Yeah....no...I hate spiders!!! I know they eat bugs, and that they keep those pests out of your house, but I hate them!! They are gross, and creepy, and some are even dangerous.
• 15th: Brutus Day: The 15th of March is also known as the Ides of March. Remember Julius Caesar? "Beware the Ides of March." Brutus was his friend who betrayed him. Why are we celebrating a backstabbing (literally) best friend?
• 15th: Buzzards Day: Buzzards...those ugly eaters of carrion. They clean up the dead and make room for new life. They are gross, but they serve a purpose. At least they aren't poisonous.
• 15th: True Confessions Day: Ooohh...now this day could be really interesting!! Do you have a deep, dark secret that you have longed to confess? Well, wait no longer! Today is the day for confessing whatever it is you have been hiding from the world! What's you secret? Come on...you can tell.
• 15th: Corn Dog Day: What goes better with juicy confessions than corn dogs? OK...kidding, of course. That state fair favorite, and childhood lunch staple has it's own day!
• 16th: Freedom of Information Day: If only information were more free. Freedom of information...ha! Fill out a freedom of information form with the government, and see what secrets you can find out!
• 16th: Goddard Day: Goddard? Who or what is Goddard? Well, Robert H. Goddard was a physicist and engineer, who is responsible for ushering in the era of space exploration. A great man to celebrate!! Goddard is also the name of the robot dog on Jimmy Neutron.
• 16th: Lips Appreciation Day: I don't think our lips get enough appreciation. Imagine trying to talk or eat without lips. See...lips are incredibly important. So take care of your lips today! Buy some lip balm!!
• 16th: Everything You Do Is Right Day: Are you sick and tired of being told that you are wrong all the time? Well, fear not! Today, no matter what you do, everything you do is right. Unless you are a married man, then you are still wrong, sorry.
• 17th: National Irish Coffee Day: It makes sense that Irish coffee day falls on St. Patrick's Day. I am not a fan of Irish coffee. Everyone thinks I'm strange because of it.
• 17th: Wellderly Day: I am guessing that this is a day for the wellness of the elderly. It's really the only thing that makes any sense.
• 18th: Awkward Moments Day: We have all had them...those awkward moments where there is too much silence, and no one knows what to do. Well, guess what? Today is full of them. Have fun!!
• 18th: Forgive Mom & Dad Day: Forgive them for what? Did your awkward moment have something to do with your parents? I forgive my parents for all the stupid things they did when I was a kid. Being a parent is never easy. Forgive your parents for their mistakes...they are only human.
• 18th: National Bio-diesel Day: A whole day to celebrate that weird fuel made from cooking grease? Awesome! How did we get so lucky? I guess watch some videos on how to make your own bio-diesel.
• 19th: Kick Butts Day: If ever a day needed to be invented...time to kick some butts today!! I know that you know people in your lives that deserve a little butt kicking...
• 19th: Let's Laugh Day: What a fun day!! Who doesn't like to laugh? I love to laugh. Laugh no matter what today. Get others to join you, because after all, laughter is contagious.
• 20th: Absolutely Incredible Kid Day: This day isn't for ordinary kids. It isn't for incredible kids. It's only for absolutely incredible kids. Of course, I think both my kids are absolutely incredible. I am sure most parents feel the same way about their kids.
• 20th: Alien Abduction Day: AWESOME!!! OK, maybe not. I don't think I would want to be abducted by aliens. I think I would rather stay home and watch old episodes of The X-Files. They had aliens and abductions. I think that's good enough.
• 20th: Bed-In For Peace Day: Oh, how I love John Lennon. Yoko, not so much. The bed-in for peace was a protest of sorts started by John and Yoko. The sat in their bed (which was made from old church pews), and sang songs with a group of people surrounding them. This commemorates that day.
• 20th: Companies That Care Day: It might be a rather small list. Not really, though. A lot of companies do wonderful things for charity. A company I recently worked for, donated large amounts of money, and medical equipment to a children's cancer hospital. Some companies do care.
• 20th: Great American Meat Out Day: OK...a day without meat I could do. That is easy enough. Didn't they just take the great american smoke out, and replace smoke with meat? Lazy...very lazy...
• 20th: Snowman Burning Day: I am not really sure how you burn a snowman. Don't they just melt?? I guess if you pour gasoline all over it, it would burn...sort of. I thought this day was just too crazy not to include. I just wish it snowed in Florida...
• 20th: Won't You Be My Neighbor Day: I grew up watching Mr. Rogers. It was a favorite of mine. Great...now I have that song stuck in my head. "would you be mine? could you be mine? Won't you be...my neighbor?" Such memories.
• 21st: Memory Day: Is this for the song from Cats? Or is it for your memories? I don't know. I forgot.
• 21st: National Common Courtesy Day: We could all use with a little more common courtesy in our lives. It seems as if it is not so common anymore. Extend a little courtesy to everyone you meet today. Hold the door for someone, use your manners and just be courteous. It won't kill you, I promise.
• 21st: Spring Fairy Fun Day: I guess this is the day that all the spring fairies come out for a day of fun. Dress up like a spring fairy and have a little fun of your own. Spend some time in nature and see if you can spot a fairy.
• 22nd: As Young As You Feel Day: Right about now, I feel about fifty years old. Other days I feel about twenty. I wish I had more of those days. Act the age you feel today. If you feel like an old lady, dress like it. If you feel like a teenager, go with it and do something crazy.
• 22nd: International Day of the Seal: What kind of seal are we talking about here? The animal? Easter Seals? The wax kind that they used to use on letters? I have no idea, and I suppose it really doesn't matter that much.
• 22nd: International Goof-Off Day: Now, this sounds like fun. Goof-off all day today! Skip work and have fun. Play games with the kids, build a block tower, color, and just goof-off.
• 23rd: Near Miss Day: I am sure we have all had a near miss in our lives; in one way or another. I can't count the number of times I have almost been in an accident, always when someone else was driving. Celebrate all those near misses today.
• 23rd: OK Day: I'm OK, You're OK. We are all OK. Is that OK with you? Don't aim too high and just go out and have an OK day.
• 24th: National Chocolate Covered Raisins Day: Actually, I prefer the yogurt covered raisins, but that's just me. Eat some chocolate covered raisins today. Give them to your kids. At least the raisins are good for them.
• 25th: National Day of Celebration of Greek & American Democracy: Say what you will about government as of late. Democracy is far better than some of the alternatives.
• 25th: Tolkien Reading Day: Have you been putting off reading The Hobbit because the movie wasn't that great? The book is better. It always is. Read some Tolkien today.
• 25th: Vaffeldagen (Waffle Day): Yummy waffles get their own day, in two languages, no less. I bet they feel pretty special...Eat some yummy waffles today to celebrate. If you don't like waffles, try some ice cream in a waffle cone.
• 25th: Letting Go of Stuff Day: This is kind of like Get Over it Day. Let go of all the stuff that you are holding on to. It's only holding you back. Let go of your hate and anger, the resentment of your past problems. Just let it all go.
• 26th: Make Up Your Own Holiday Day: I wonder if this is where all these holidays come from...Make up your own holiday. Now that sounds like fun!!! The possibilities are endless. Just make sure the day isn't already covered.
• 26th: Manatee Appreciation Day: We take manatees pretty seriously down here. They may not be traditionally cute, but I love them! Show your love for the manatees!
• 27th: Quirky Country Music Song Titles Day: Well, this is incredibly specific. I am sitting here, trying to think of quirky country song titles, and I'm drawing a blank. I don't know...any ideas? Suggestions? Let's make a karaoke night out of just singing country songs with quirky titles.
• 27th: Viagra Day: When there are so many more important things to focus on, drug companies focus on things like Viagra, and I hear they are close to a cure for baldness. YAY!
• 27th: National "Joe" Day: I am not making this up! This is a day for anyone who hates their name. Instead of being called by their name, they are called "Joe". No kidding.
• 28th: Barnum & Bailey Day: Who doesn't love the circus? I loved the circus as a child! And no circus is more famous than Barnum & Bailey. I can smell the popcorn now, well, that and the elephant dung.
• 28th: Weed Appreciation Day: If I were an idiot, I would assume that this day is in appreciation for weeds, which no one appreciates. I am not an idiot. I do not condone the use of drugs. Celebrate this day if you want. I just thought it would have been April 20th, instead of March 28th.
• 28th: Hot Tub Day: Do you have a hot tub? Hop in your hot tub and relax. I don't care if it's twenty degrees outside. Have you always wanted a hot tub? Go out and buy one. You might get a great deal this time of year.
• 29th: Earth Hour: Well, this is crap! It's not even a day. It's only an hour. I guess since they already had Earth Day, they couldn't do another one. But why an hour? What is the point?
• 29th: National Mom & Pop Business Owners Day: Honor those little mom & pop stores in your town. Eat at that little diner down the street, or visit that little clothing shop in town. Small businesses need our support.
• 29th: Niagara Falls Runs Dry Day: Well, that's not likely to happen, now is it? Could you imagine? It would be interesting, no matter how unlikely.
• 29th: Texas Loves the Children Day: Shouldn't we love children every day? I love my kids every day, even when they drive me up the wall. I don't love them any less. Come on, Texas, can't you love your kids all the time like the rest of us?
• 30th: Grass is Browner on the Other Side of the Fence Day: That is kind of a long winded way of saying "Appreciate what you have", but whatever. It's true, either way. It may look greener, but if you take care of what is on your side of the fence, it would put anything outside that fence to shame.
• 30th: Doctors Day: Most doctors I have met are jerks; just saying. Some of them are great. I have met a few that are fantastic. I will be celebrating those few, awesome doctors. The rest...not so much.
• 31st: Bunsen Burner Day: I am sure all of you know someone who almost burned down their high school after an accident with one of these. Science would not be the same without the Bunsen burner.
• 31st: "She's Funny That Way" Day: We all know someone who fits this. Admit it, and if you don't, then it's you. Celebrate your unique friend today. Send her a card that only she would appreciate, or take her to one of those strange movies she always wants to see.
• 31st: Terri's Day: Whoever Terri is, she (or he) has their own day. Do you know a Terri? The spelling is specific, but since when have I ever cared about spelling?

I am kind of the same boat, procrastination maybe the only thing that I do well. That is why it has been a couple of months since I published my last hub. But no worries, I'll do it tomorrow, or maybe the next day.
