My Winter Feelings and Celebration
Winter is the season which comes after autumn and before spring in each year. In this period the semester of the university is called fall. I am always in love with this season. Actually, the love had been originated from my childhood due to winter holidays. It has been expanded with time by realizing different gifts of this season to us. Our entire life is a blessing and gift from Almighty where these seasons are very special phenomena. I really feel that we are lucky to have the opportunity to enjoy the taste of different seasons with huge natural features and ingredients those don’t make us feeling bored in our life.
Firstly, the lovely winter just well come up with its dense moist through the whole nature. Dew drops fall over leaves and trees. It seems the nature has been wrapped up with a white and hazy cover. The urban and rural views are different. As urban city is always very busy and little crowded, we can see the views from rooftop. But the same panorama looks really so adorable from rural area. Once we walk on green grass we can feel the drops of moist. The other side of the field looks almost white due to fog. This foggy morning always gives me the feeling of the presence of lovely winter. It looks like the season itself is calling me to take the essence.
I start to select my winter wearing those are goanna fit me well. It also shapes my mind with a new ardour and warmth. Sentiments were different in childhood, teenage and university life. In childhood only important thing was about winter holidays that was pretty long. Teen period feelings were to visit native village, enjoy travelling, natural beauty and foods. Since university life started it was a separate scenario. Eating street foods, taking tea and walking in the lake with friend were the swings.
As I was always been a family person, thus I had some special panning with cooking. This was the main celebration of my winter indeed. This is the season when lots of fresh and colorful vegetables grow. These are always very tasty to cook. I used to cook vegetable khichuri (some special kind of yellow rice with different items of lentil and spices). The item used to be so mouthwatering that was just beyond any explanation. Seasonal and glowing vegetables brought the unique taste in that. Fresh salad was also a part our winter meals. These were very healthy and full of nutrition as well.
There were also exclusive specialties of different kinds of cakes. Date juices were collected in this season which was used to make those cakes with rice flours. One exceptional item was “Vapa Pitha” (a cake made of coconut, date juice and rice flour) was just delicious with its unique appetizing flavor. There were more other items like Nokshi pitha (designed cake with rice flour and jaggery), Puli pitha (cake made with rice flour, sugarcane and milk), Chitoi Pitha (cake made with only rice flour). Winter afternoon without those Pithas were just like passing very gloomy and frowzy rhythms of time.
As the nature stays calm and quiet it was pretty suitable for water riding. I had this chance for only one time in my life. River side view was also very pleasant in winter. It seemed the blue water of river also kept its tranquility and peace in that cold sate of weather. It was very pleasing to touch the water slowly as the boat was also moving very steadily. A delightful feeling was touching inside me that still cherish my mind.
We used to donate for people who could not able to afford winter clothes. I felt that it was not only about to enjoy my times but also would think for some needy people to whom I could do something. This was a way where it had been grown my impression for the society as a whole.
No matter how much opportunity we have to enjoy and celebrate the season still I have to keep in mind about the consciousness of not getting cold. Taking proper vitamin C, warm water and raw tea was always in my preferences.
As of today, maybe I don’t have enough time to pass my winter like previous days. But these emotions and memories will be always alive in my mind. All of these just knock me at every winter in my life and it seems to me like to getting back to my bygone winters in my life.
