Rev. Margaret Minnicks is an ordained Bible teacher. She writes many articles that are Bible lessons.
The title for this article is a play on words from Bing Crosby's song, "White Christmas" that is the most popular sold Christmas song. Instead of saying, "I'm dreaming of a WHITE Christmas" I chose to say, "I'm dreaming of a RIGHT Christmas."
Perhaps you will understand the connection by the time you get to the end of the article.
'I'm Dreaming of a RIGHT Christmas'
People send Christmas cards wishing one another a "Merry Christmas" and a "Happy New Year."
They believe that is the right thing to do, and it is. However, doing the right thing at Christmas should not be limited to just Christmas. Having a right Christmas doesn't mean it has to start and stop with only one day. Having a right Christmas should last all year.
According to Deuteronomy 6:18, "Do what is right and good in the LORD's sight, so all will go well with you."
In order to have a right Christmas, there should be a right relationship in three areas.
- Right relationship with God
- Right relationship with others
- Right relationship with self
Right Relationship with God
In order to have a right relationship with God start by having a right relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ.
You cannot enjoy the gift of the Father until you accept His Son as your Savior. Then you can enjoy both the Father and the Son.
In order to have a right Christmas, accept Jesus whose birthday is celebrated on Christmas Day, December 25. Then other things will fall into place.
Right Relationship with Others
The second area of having a right Christmas is to be in a right relationship with others. Start by forgiving those who have hurt you. Extend the olive branch to your enemies. If they do not respond in a positive manner, then it is between your enemies and God because you have done all you can do.
Have a right Christmas by loving your enemies as God commanded and your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12:31).
Right Relationship with Self
The third relationship is the one you have with yourself; especially, if you want to have a right Christmas.
Establishing a right relationship with yourself is the best gift you can give yourself. When you have a right relationship with yourself, you have peace within. You can trust that God will give you that wonderful relationship with Him. Remember, a relationship with God was the first relationship that was suggested. You see, it has gone full circle.
When all three relationships are what they are supposed to be, then you don't have to dream about a right Christmas because the right Christmas will be a reality.
When you have a right Christmas by having a right relationship with God, others, and yourself, you won't mind so much if you don't have a white Christmas. The snow on the ground will be only temporary until the sun comes out anyway. Then it will disappear until another time.
However, when you have the right relationship with God, it will last forever because of His Son who died for the forgiveness of your sins. Besides, you won't have to dream of the right Christmas because every day will be a right day for you.

Thanks a lot for reading my article, Louise. Merry Christmas to you! We might not have a WHITE Christmas, but surely we can have a RIGHT when we celebrate the birth of Jesus.
