My Heart Felt Birthday Tribute to My Twin Sister

My Sister and I Celebrating our Birthday

Celebrating "49" at Manny's Steakhouse

Happy Birthday to my Best Friend

Dear Laura

It's about 7:30 P.M. on our birthday eve. Your out with your kids right now and I have the house all to myself. I'm getting really pumped for our birthday tomorrow and celebrating at one of our favorite restaurants. I still get excited like I did when we were younger, because I always know that I share this special day with my best friend. I hope your planning on staying up until midnight so we can bring in this 49th birthday right! Some day we won't be able to stay up late, so let's get the jammies and slippers on and watch the clock strike midnight. It's going to be another Friday the 13th birthday. Those have always turned out to be amazing birthday's for us. I think with all the superstition surrounding the date, our expectations have been low which made them that much more fun.

I guess I'm writing this Birthday Wish for you so you'll Always know, in no uncertain terms what you mean to me.

My Love for you is so Strong...

Laura, I can truly say that my journey in this life has been Beautiful because of you. Life has thrown you and I some curve balls, but because we have each other, we manage to not only survive, but Thrive. When I was diagnosed with cancer almost eight years ago; as scared as I was, I knew I wasn't alone. I knew my twin sister would be there for me through thick and thin and never waiver. My love for you is so strong, I was glad it was me that ended up with cancer, and not you.

Best Friend/Soulmate

Your Love for me is so Strong...

Your love for me is so strong...

When the pharmacist told you how expensive my medications would be, you knew we could never afford it. As he explained that my medical insurance ran out and I was no longer covered for pain and nausea medication, you went to bat for me. You caused quite a commotion at Health Partners Clinic that day. The poor, unsuspecting pharmacist didn't know what hit him. Though you tried to be strong for me so I could get the needed medication, desperate pleas and flowing tears illuminated your unconditional love for me.

When you hadn't come back to my room with the medication for about twenty minutes, the oncologist had an "aha" moment. She'd seen this happen before and figured my health insurance probably ran out. She assured me I would get the chemo drugs I needed to help combat the bad side effects; but added, "there may be some confusion with the pharmacy. You'd better get downstairs and let Laura know we can take care of it." Before I even reached the lobby, I could hear my frightened twin sister pleading with the pharmacist. "Please, if she doesn't get this medication she will be deathly ill." Her voice was loud and firm, yet sadly vulnerable. By the time I entered the pharmacy lobby, all eyes and ears were on Laura. I noticed people were looking at her with kindness and compassion; like they'd been in this situation too. Many onlookers had tears in their eyes as they watched my sister fight for me. When I finally reached Laura, I wrapped my arms around her and said with all the love in my heart, "It's ok honey, my oncologist will take care of the medication." You could've heard a pin drop as the people in that lobby witnessed the Unconditional Love of a Sister.

Happy Birthday Laura-I love you with all my heart and soul and can't imagine my life without you.

So kind of you to notice my big '9' year anniversary with Hubpages. I have learned so much throughout these years & made great friends like you. Thank you for all your thoughtful comments & just being you. Hope your having a great day.

DREAM ON on June 19, 2019:

There is no time more important than now. I read your comment on my hub and I was thrilled just as if was my birthday. So it seemed so fitting to go to your birthday hub. I love to read your old comments and I have had the pleasure to read your hubs many years ago. I see someone very special had an anniversary on HubPages. I like to think of anniversaries and birthdays on the same page. A wonderful time to celebrate and watch the joys of life unfold. The more I think about it, I try to think of every day as Christmas and have all the anticipation and good feelings all throughout my body Once again my thoughts are different and people don't seem to catch on. So I keep them to myself. Your hub never gets old and each time I read it memories of all my birthdays come rushing forward. I know January is only less than seven months away. The excitement was keeping me awake so when I can't sleep I write. Why not write to the people who are wonderful and caring and as close to perfect as someone can get. Thank you for being you. I love that it can apply to both of you. I think of the old chewing gum commercial double mint gum that would have twins in the commercial. That should have been your spot in fame on t.v. Both of you would be perfect. Maybe you could be the updated version and people from our generation would remember the old one also. Everyone happy and we get to take inspiration and put ideas to real use. Then again I am so used to ideas fading away into the sunset. I can't complain. I love sunsets so much. Thank you for the love and joy you spread. Have a beautiful night.

DREAM ON on March 29, 2019:

My brothers birthday is January 18th. We are not close. I always thought brothers should be the best of friends. Real life doesnt always turn out the way we wish. When I read your posts I can feel the wonderful feelings of joy. All most as if the words aren"t even needed. I am so pleased to see the love that I hoped for does exist. Have a sweet Friday.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on March 28, 2019:

Dream On-my birthday is January 13, 1963. How cool we share the 13th of a month. Thanks for reading my tribute to my twin sister. I thank God everyday that he sent us here together. She is my best friend who has always been there for me. I feel sad for people who have noone to count on in this world. Loneliness is real for many.

DREAM ON on March 28, 2019:

I have missed a few years. I think I slept through them. Well, I am here now. My birthday is on September thirteenth is it true we share the same day just different months. Please let me know what month. I am here to celebrate. If I am real early let the party begin. If I am real late just another reason to bring back two smiles on both your faces. I love to pretend it keeps us young at heart. Why can't we just pretend it's your birthday. Would that be so bad? Seeing two wonderful people laughing and causing all kinds of ruckus. If you get in any real trouble I will take the blame. You can always say...Mikey likes it. That takes you both off the hook. I leave you with one big candle that will burn for days. I wasn't sure the year so I thought this would be a start. The candle burns so brightly. It must be an amazing light from both of you. Have a great day. Spring has finally sprung. Have a wonderful afternoon.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on April 11, 2017:

Shyron E Shenko from Texas on April 11, 2017:

Linda, I am so sorry I missed this, but it was before I became a Hubber. I have two brothers, no sisters. But I did have a cousin who was as close or closer than a sister. Shelby and I were always together.

I hope you both had a Wonderful birthday each and every year.

Blessings and hugs to you both

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on April 08, 2017:

Dear Manitita-I know with every fiber of my being that you are right about us being sent here together for a reason. We've gotten through so many trials and tribulations together and are best of friends. I thank my dear Lord for the blessing that is the gift of my twin sister. Love and Peace to you my friend.

Liz Elias from Oakley, CA on January 13, 2015:

What a stunningly beautiful tribute! You are both so lucky to have each other. I confess to a bit of envy; as an only child, I'll never know the connection one has to a sibling.

Luckily, my current husband is my soulmate, so I can sort of get it vicariously.

May you both enjoy many more wonderfully happy birthdays!

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on January 13, 2015:

DREAM ON on October 02, 2014:

I know it's not your birthday but it is coming closer by the day. I just had one myself and all I could think of is your hub. It took awhile for all the excitement and joy to calm down. I don't think it will ever leave. Life is filled with so many moments. It is impossible to keep track of them all. So I don't loose my mind I focus on ones I love the best and keep repeating them over and over again. The feelings are the same. I am satisfied and never get tired of feeling great. That is all for now. Hope your night goes well. I send my blessings to you both and many more stories here on Hubpages as well.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on April 17, 2014:

I see so many people say a birthday is just another day.I feel so sad then I go to your hub and feel all my great feelings that I love as they rush through my body from head to toe. Bringing the smile back where it belongs.Planted far and wide across my face.Like your first birthday cake from ear to ear and all over everywhere. Fun and more fun what can I say. You are so sweet DREAM ON-How did I get so lucky to meet such a special friend here. I still get blown away that I've made such great friendships here.

Our birthday was absolutely fabulous! To be honest, we stretched it out as much as possible. The party started on Friday and went until the real birthday on Sunday. Don't worry, I don't mean we didn't sleep or anything. We had plans with different friends or family each night. Saturday night was the biggest celebration. Maybe I should do a hub on it my friend. I just love celebrating birthday's with my best friend. It's such a blessing. Thanks so much for coming by and if I do a hub about my birthday this year, then you can take the poll.

DREAM ON on January 17, 2013:

I waited all year for this moment and I missed it.Tell me all about it.From beginning to end.Don't leave out any details or any cake.I love birthdays and your poll was closed.I hope every birthday is special and G R A N D only one thing could be better than having a birthday and that is having a twin.Double the birthday pleasure and did you go out to eat and stay up late. Belated Happy Birthday and extra love and kisses.

Peggy Woods from Houston, Texas on December 27, 2012:

Since this was written 11 months ago...you will soon be celebrating your 50th birthday if one of the early comments about your 49th was correct. That should be quite a celebration with your twin sister Laura. She must have loved this hub with your outpouring of love and thankfulness built into it. You are so lucky to have one another! Up and beautiful votes.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on August 25, 2012:

What a great birthday tribute and a beautiful message to your twin. You both share so much love that it warms my heart. I love my two brothers ( no we're not triplets) and there's something special about the sibling connections.

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on February 22, 2012:

Nothing better to warm my heart than a birthday wish from my Canadian Prince. Laura and I had a really special birthday with her kids. We went to a real swanky restaurant where they valet'd our car and were treated like royalty. It's a well known steak place that is rated one of the top in the state. We all ordered our own steak, appetizer and they brought us free dessert for the birthday. It was one of the best desserts I've ever had. It was called Brandy Chocolate Mousse Cake. They sliced a huge piece for us and we each got our own fork. After dinner we dropped the kids off at their dad's and we planned to go out for a cocktail and some fun but we ate so much, we ended up going home and getting on the pj's. I just read this comment to Laura as she is on face book and would love to be a part of your group there. I may end up being on face book some day but at this point I haven't joined because I know I'd love it and just one more site to get hooked on. Thanks so much for reading my birthday tribute to sis. Your the best Colin.

You are such a honey bunny. It's always so good to hear from you, my dear friend. I don't think I knew your wife had sisters that are twins. I think it's great they all live together. It just feels like a natural thing for Laura and I to live together after all these years since we are both single gals now.

It must be so wonderful being a twin, I don't know how you can keep from living in the same house, lol. My sister is several years older than me and she really did not ever like me to be truthful because she was jealous of the closeness me and Mom had. May you both live to be 100 at least!

Linda Rogers (author) from Minnesota on February 04, 2012:

Thanks Lady_E. Our birthday was amazing! That dessert you see in the picture was so nummy. It was called, Chocolate Mousse Rum Cake.

Thanks so much Caroline-I really appreciate the birthday wish. It was a great birthday but I ate too much at the steak restaurant and was miserable for a couple hours. That's what I get for not stopping when my tummy told me to. LOL

YIPPEE-My buddy Cheerfulnuts stopped in to wish me a happy birthday. Thanks for coming by, I was hoping to see you my sweet friend. How sad to hear of your blogger friend who lost her twin. Sis and I can't imagine how hard it would be to lose my each other. Not a conversation sis and I like to have, but we did when I was sick. I remember how many nights Laura just cried and made me promise not to leave her. I was like, "not if I have anything to do with it." I know that not wanting to leave her helped me get better and fight hard. I would like to follow this twin you speak of, if you think it's ok. I am so glad you and I found each other on our blogs. You are a very special woman.
