SweetiePie from Southern California, USA on October 22, 2015:

Salma Hayek is one of my favorite actresses. I loved her in Fools Rush In.

Grecelda on May 04, 2015:

Linda Herring Martinez, Vicki Carr, Eduardo Verestequi, Eduardo Palomo, John Gavin, Yvette Carmen Minieux, Diego Luna, Eduardo Yanez, Gilbert Roland , Linda Carter and many other Mexican Americans who changed their last names due racism in the U.S. were great actors and actresses. Of course Hollywood always give the Jewish people more opportunities which is a shame for life is not all Jewish or white Anglo. The U.S. has a diverse society so the movies should also have a diverse cast.

Grecelda on October 12, 2014:

Yvette Carmen Mimieux was also Mexican. Also Hayworth, Miss America, Linda Herring Martiez. There are many more. Eduardo Yanez is very talented. These actors are more beautiful than the ones they have in Hollywood now.

Jack Ripley on February 09, 2014:

Good topic.!!

I think the best Mexican celebration is the Independence Day of September 16th when Mexico fought for their independence. I truly believe that's much more of a celebration then Cinco De Mayo.

What I find controversial is that the young generation Mexican American today is very different and as change a lot. During the 80's and 90's a lot of Mexican American actors were doing films but after 2000 it became no longer integrated into the Hollywood film industry. Today it's seems separated to only Spanish speaking actors working only in Spanish stations..

To my understanding, I've notice more and more Jewish actors are more raising and not enough Mexican actors are given a chance to prove themselves they too can do a good job performing actors.

(George Lopez controversial speaking) today too many stereotyping commercials like El pollo loco and or Taco Bell are Latino actors are hired as to speak with a "Heavy accent" .

I find with my observation that the Hollywood film Industry are not hiring more Mexicans actors but more Latin region like Sofia from Modern Family which she is Colombian and Jennifer Lopez in her Puerto Rican native.

I've seen all the film school academy into the business of teaching young people about the filming business and majority are Mexican Americans who actually end up not getting a chance to film in the real field.

How on earth did I know this?

Movie credits at the end of the films. No Gonzalez,no Lopez or no Hernandez names are up? (George Lopez sarcasm)

Anyways thank you for sharing this hub page and please continue doing a great job. :)

Thanks for commenting. I used to watch Thalia when she stars in those soap operas. She is one of the best Mexican actress!

GandBi on August 20, 2012:

I knew only Salma Hayek, Antony Quinn and Thalia. I think they are the only ones who really made it out of Mexico and became huge. The two first in cinema and the last in music and TV. However, it was nice to get to know more about the more important Mexican actors, this country definitely spanned huge stars around the world. I think that people in Eastern Europe like me (I am Greek) are more linked to Thalia when talking about Mexican entertainment. At least she is the one who captured the attention of the media for more than a decade causing fever every time she was visiting our countries. But there is no doubt all these actors above indeed are HUGE.

By the way, you didn't mention the MOST HANDSOME actor ever to appear on the screen, who is also Mexican on both sides of his family: JOHN GAVIN !!!

Kathy on August 03, 2010:

I wonder how many young people have ANY IDEA how handsome, sexy and talented Ricardo Montalban was when he was younger. He was a wonderful dancer, singer and romantic lead actor in many films, both in the U.S. and in Mexico. Most people remember him in the silly sitcom "Fantasy Island", but this role has NOTHING to do with what he was like as a romantic lead in his earlier films. Honestly, my mind was blown when I saw him in some of his earlier films, dancing the tango with Cyd Charisse, romancing and singing to Esther Williams, etc., etc. YOU GOTTA SEE THIS GUY, he was the most perfect Latin Lover !!!
