Dog and Cat Halloween Costumes

Author:

Why should humans have all the fun at Halloween? Dress your pet dog or cat in Halloween costumes too. Your pet is part of the family and so should be included in such celebrations. Your neighbours might think it's bit over the top, but just wait till next year - they'll be getting a costume for their pooch or tabby too.

Dog and cat halloween costumes are becoming increasingly popular. Don't let your pet miss out.

Amazon have a fantastic selection of dog and cat halloween costumes, and I hope you enjoy reading about them here.

The Savvy Tabby Kitty Crusador cat halloween costume featured here will make your cat feel on top of the world! Boss cat really is Puss in Boots now, appearing as a swashbuckling crusador. Light up your party with this outfit and make the most of a great photo opportunity.

Be quick, because I don't imagine Puss will want to keep it on for long. No matter, once you have the photographs, you can frame it and keep with your treasured family photos forever.

Cat Halloween Costume

How did they hold this cat long enough to take the photo over at Amazon?

How did they hold this cat long enough to take the photo over at Amazon?

Cat Halloween Costume

I would love to the see 'cat in a hat' featured above in this group of Amazon capsules.

You could set your stopwatch on how long it will take the cat to get the hat off.

Meanwhile all these cute moggy cat costumes are for sale, so treat your cat this Halloween by buying one so that he too can join in the family festivities.

Dog Costumes

Well, why not? If you manage to put a costume on a cat, it is only fair that your dog should also be forced to suffer the indignity of looking stupid too. Some of these dog costumes range from the cute to the bizarre, but all have them have one thing is common.

They'll have everyone at your party talking about them. Break the ice with a dog Halloween costume.

Bride Dog Halloween Costume

Now the title of this article is wrong right away. Your dog can never be a bride. Your bitch can be, however, so it should be called Bride Bitch Halloween Costume, but they decided against that name in case someone complained that they were in actual fact being sexist against women.

However the Bride Dog Halloween Costume doesn't really have an awful lot to do with Halloween, which is a night for all the witches and ghouls and scary things to come out, but a bride?

Still, this costume could be used for a private wedding ceremony between your dog and bitch if you are so inclined to bother....

Leprechaun Dog Costume

This is seriously cute! Definitely you've got to buy this for the pooch. He will look so cute! Of course there is no disguise here (unlike the bride dog who is wearing a veil (naturally)) so it doesn't quite conform to the spirit of Halloween, but then again I'm sure it won't matter too much. If your children are going guising (trick or treating) they could take the dog along with them for protection - especially if he is a Dobermann or one of the more potentially vicious breeds. However, I do not think a Dobermann will appreciate a leprechaun outfit. Too pansy for him, likely.

Perhaps he'd prefer one of the dog costumes shown below - maybe Batman, the Dark Knight?

Other Dog Costumes Available at Amazon

Spider-Man, Batman, Dapper Dog, Jack Sparrow, Darth Vader, Cat in the Hat, Hippie Dog, Star Wars Princess Leia, Superman, Doggone Cat, Elf Dog, Flinstones Dino Dog, Harem Dog, Wonder Woman Dog, Star Wars Yoda, Dog Devil, Zelda Bouffant, Zelda cave, Shrek

and all are available in a wide variety of sizes, so you are sure to find one that is perfect for your dog!

The Elvis Dog Halloween Costume

Now the Elvis costume doesn't look too stupid for a dog (it looks stupid on a lot of humans, but on a dog, no). There's not a lot to this costume - it says jumpsuit and cape, but I guess the jumpsuit just goes over his front legs. Too cool, with the flared bell bottoms just like Elvis wore.

You'll still get someone asking, what's you dog dressed up as? Sigh.

Just play the Elvis songs as pooch make his entrance.

He Ain't Nothing But a Hound Dog!

Pumpkin Dog Halloween Costume

The Pumpkin Dog Halloween Costume is brilliant. This is just the business! It fulfills all its functions.

  • It dresses your dog in fancy dress costume
  • It makes him look incredibly stupid
  • It has a perfect Halloween theme (the pumpkin).

Don't let your dog do without this year. Buy him a pumpkin costume.

He definitely looks stupid, but happy

I would like to dress up my little white fluffy dog. Her name is Princess, so perhaps she should wear a crown? However, she won't keep even a jacket on at this stage, so baby steps!

There is that, tms! But you know, if people are happy dressing their pets up, why worry? I'm still dying to see a cat who will keep a costume on for longer than 5 minutes tops!

t-m-s on October 28, 2010:

OK, am I the only one who thinks people who dresses their pets in Halloween costumes should be mentally examined LOL

IzzyM (author) from UK on October 27, 2010:

This is THE big problem - getting cats to wear their costumes! Dogs are easy, but cats? lol

Susan Keeping from Kitchener, Ontario on October 27, 2010:

I love the cat jester costume, although my cat would never agree to wear it.

schoolmarm from Florida on October 27, 2010:

Every year I dress my very large dogs up for Halloween and it lasts about 5 minutes until one of them is chewing the others hat or something! I still can't help myself though! This year I will have an angel, a devil and a firedog. No, I can't explain the firedog...it was just cute!

Love the costumes, especially the first one, the kitty crusador. Don't think my cat will let me dress her with the sock/booties though!

These are great. I always have trouble getting the pet in the costume though. They don't seem to like the idea as much as the humans do. :O)

@Jane...is it a lady dog you have? Pink for girls/blue for boys sort of thing. I mean you don't want to give HIM a complex!

@Mutiny, thanks for that. Hoping someone is looking for a pet costume this Halloween. If not, I hope they get some fun reading about them :)

Cheri Schultz from Midwest on August 22, 2010:

IzzyM: These are the most adorable costumes I have ever seen. Great Selection!!

IzzyM (author) from UK on August 21, 2010:

Good luck with the new cat! Chances are it'll be OK for a little while, but even the most laid-back cat is not going to be having it, at least not for long!

What's News on August 21, 2010:

I tried to dress a cat in something before. He didn't like it. Now I have a new cat and he's so laid back that I might be able to pull it off with this one. I'm going to try the Leprechaun outfit he's orange close enough to Irish red I guess. Thanks for the idea and info.

kigurumi on August 20, 2010:

o my god those costumes for animals are sooooo cute.

Have you seen the animal costumes for humans at http://www.animalcostumesshop.co.uk

IzzyM (author) from UK on August 20, 2010:

So your dog doesn't need a Halloween costume? She could go as herself! Shadows are much sought after at Halloween.

Dobson from Virginia on August 20, 2010:

My dog is best suited to play a shadow as she is jet black and moves so quietly you never know she is around. It is a good thing she has no mean bone in her body! I am sure there are many who seek this info though!

IzzyM (author) from UK on August 20, 2010:

I just can't imagine a Rottie in any costume! They would just say no or go for the throat! And I don't think I've ever had a cat that would let anyone dress it up either. But there must still be pets out there that don't mind.

Tony from At the Gemba on August 20, 2010:

My cat is already the cat from hell, no need for the costume for that one.. I can't imagine my Rottweiler in any sort of costume, I think he would bite people on principle if we tried to make him look cute.. however a set of horns and a cape and he would look great.. lol

Pandoras Box from A Seemingly Chaotic World on August 20, 2010:

Too cute! Great looking hub, Izzy!

IzzyM (author) from UK on August 19, 2010:

Thanks Pamela! Can I interest you in a pet costume, perchance?

Pamela Oglesby from Sunny Florida on August 19, 2010:

Some of those dog costumes are adorable. Cute hub.
